There are some incorrect answers here. USB 3 is fast enough for any hdd or sdd (m2 with nvme excluded). the internal drive has a sata interface, not an usb3 interface. ssd internal and external will always be faster than a hdd on your ps4. ssd´s have a very low access time, so you profit even more with lots of small files, compared to standard hdd. here are max speeds, in case you want to upgrade with an external ssd, which makes sense on your ps4 and ps4 pro.
