@themightyant Yeah I'll just wait for the PS6 version of GTA6 myself since I got a PS5 and not a PS5 Pro. Sony has been super aggressive on their pricing this end of the year. I have a gut feeling PS6 will be announced mid to late next year with a 2027 release.
Goes to show that PlayStation is FPS/Sports/GTA machine first with great 1st party exclusives as secondary. And it's not a bad thing. I'm not really sold on Yotei, but will probably get it when it's around 30 bucks.
@nomither6
Yes and we have better discussions in there than here. I remember the time when it's almost wasn't allowed to mention Nintendo in here or you'll risk a warning of going "out of topic" when PS fanboys starts ganging up on you. I've been visiting NLife, Push Square, and PureXbox since 2013 when I was coming back to console gaming (played FamiCom, MegaDrive, Gameboy, SNES, PS1 when I was a kid before going PC) and I was choosing which system to buy at first.
Another thing Nintendo Life is better than Push Square is writers tell you in their articles what platforms 3rd party games are coming out whether it's also on PC, XBox and Playstation. PushSquare on the other hand will only tell you "it's coming to PlayStation on.." like it's an exclusive. LOL.
I agree with most multiplatform gamers in here. I just play on my Switch/2 whenever I want to go handheld. I only bought a PS Portal just because it's the 30th anniversary edition and I was curious to have one. And I don't even have premium subscription.
Good for those who use it regularly. PushSquare just making a "hit" out if it.
@1UP-HUSKY Weren't you hoping Sony shouldn't win this case like Nintendo on Palworld?
If you watch Genshin Impact reveal gameplay/trailer and compare it to Breath of the Wild, the animations, enemies and how they are defeated, art style, and the environment are very similar as well. But Nintendo didn't sue Genshin.
@RiverGenie
You and IGN may be right, and I'm not arguing. My point is Nintendo trying to cover more grounds to punish (or to kill, in your own term) Palworld for blatantly copying Pokemon's creatures. There are other games whose characters and designs were inspired by Nintendo's own. But they are not the same as Palworld's. And I haven't heard any other lawsuits.
I'm not defending Nintendo, but I can understand where they are coming from. @1UP-HUSKY maybe right that there maybe repercussions if Nintendo wins this lawsuit. They are not really addressing (winning) the battle directly (blatant copying of the designs) because law says they can't, but they are using other means (gameplay patents) to win.
@TrollOfWar Because it's not a blatant copy. They may be inspired by it, but they have different art styles and designs to differentiate from each. It was also pointed out that they are also inspired by Japanese myth creatures/beliefs.
@1UP-HUSKY So far, they've only used it against someone who blatantly copied their designs in a game in which they can't sue them for it. We'll see if they go beyond.
I honestly thought Nintendo's gonna sue the devs of Genshin Impact because of the similarities on Breath of the Wild. They both have the same animations and art styles when it was first revealed. I didn't follow, but it seems Nintendo thinks they are different enough on other aspects.
What about Sony's Horizon ripoff Light of Motiram? What happened to the lawsuit?
@1UP-HUSKY The patents they used against Palworld were registered long ago I think. They may be covering more grounds on the new ones.
Also are there any other lawsuits that Nintendo used a patent for game mechanics? Correct me if I'm wrong, I've only heard about patents on game mechanics against Palworld.
@TrollOfWar
I've seen that before. It's old news. The similarities are not comparable to Palworld's. DQ's creatures mostly inspired Pokemon's designs. Or from Japanese myth "creatures" in general inspired both. Palworld's designs are just ripoffs.
I don't think Nintendo care much if you copy their "game mechanics". But anybody who's not a Nintendo hater won't deny Palworld's creatures are blatant Pokemon creatures ripoff. Nintendo however can't sue them on the similarities (switched body parts), so they are suing them on grounds that they can win just to take them down.
I remember DOOM on Switch 1 having the single player game files on cartridge and the multiplayer game files needed to be downloaded separately. Not surprising at all given the PS5 blu-ray discs can't hold much of today's game data. (edit: oops, it's 100GB)
That's why I'm being picky on what single player games I buy. If it includes all data and is playable (save for minor patches later) then I'll buy it physical. But if it needs a big day one patch to be playable, then I'll just go digital later on when it's at least 33% off.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner @carlos82
Yeah I don't understand preordering digital games months in advance. You can just do a day or a few days before if you want it readily downloaded upon release. Reviews will probably out by then.
I only pre-order physical games (mostly limited editions) as they can get cheaper and/or they could run out on release day.
I mean they play it longer on PS because they actually bought it? Those with Xbox has other games to play included in their gamepass. And PS5 have a higher install base than Xbox. This is not surprising at all.
I was bad at analog stick aiming back in the emergence of FPSs in the PSOne days. After playing FamiCom, Super Famicom, PSOne, and Sega Megadrive, I went solely PC gaming.
I only got back to console gaming in the Wii U days because of gyro aiming and having kids to play with.
I'm excited on the Switch 2's mouse functionality as only Splatoon and Nintendo games use the gyro aiming efficiently. I'd definitely start buying more FPS games on the PS5 if they add mouse support.
Remember when Genshin Impact copied Breath of the Wild's artstyle, animation, and tweaked the character models a little? Nintendo fans called it a blatant copy but Sony fans says it has a different gameplay. I suspect this will be the same case with different gameplay and/or mechanics.
@Matroska @NEStalgia @danzoEX
It's Sammy B. I've long been suspecting (ever since I started visiting NLife and Co. during the Wii U days) he's getting paid and/or working with Sony. In my observation, he do sometimes criticize Sony when things don't look good for the company but will later steer the narrative to their favor/side. Or he's just the biggest most bias fanboy that I just chuckle on most of the articles he write.

Re: Palworld Is Being Forced to Make 'Disappointing' Changes to Its Gameplay Due to Nintendo
I'll just leave @Ogbert 's post from Nintendo Life. (Sorry for dragging you here, pal):
"Nintendo/Game Freak/ The PokƩmon Company, do not care and are not trying to stop people making monster catching games. They do not care about TemTem or Cassette Beasts etc. But they DO care about Palworld.
The reason for this is Palworld is very clearly selling itself on itās visual similarity to PokĆ©mon in a way that is potentially damaging to PokĆ©monās reputation as a family friendly IP. Because they have deliberately designed all their Pals to look like existing PokĆ©mon and then made them wield guns and such. They can say they donāt like the āPokĆ©mon with gunsā name now but they encouraged it at the start and they are still promoting Palworld with a picture of not-Electabuzz wielding a machine gun.
So why doesnāt Nintendo sue them for the designs being copied? They canāt. Itās protected under parody laws which are important and good. So they go to patents which are much more solid and protected but actually very specific. There are some general ones like the infamous nemesis system but more often they protect they way it was achieved in the game rather than the concept itself. Nintendo likely patented the way it was done because as people said āgliding on a creatureā is too broad. That means Palworld likely has code systems that exactly match those in the PokĆ©mon games. Which after the scandal of them having stolen the 3D models and just tweaked them, suggests they have just taken huge chunks of other peopleās code/engine work and put it in their game as their own.
If they had never tried to be so close to PokĆ©mon visually, it likely would never have been found and they would not be in this situation. Which is why Nintendo not only doesnāt care about TemTem and Cassette Beasts etc, but is happy to actively promote them in Directs. Those guys are playing nice, Palworld came out itching for a fight and is sad now theyāre loosing."
Re: Palworld Is Being Forced to Make 'Disappointing' Changes to Its Gameplay Due to Nintendo
@GabrielBacakPS
Nah, they are based on existing art/designs, animals or mythological creatures. Palworlds' designs on the other hand are just body parts "swaps" from existing PokƩmons.
