Twisted Metal: Black originally launched on the PlayStation 2 way back in 2001, and was critically applauded for its dark tone and class-leading vehicular combat.
"In the [PS3] game we are really getting into the depth of the newly evolved Sweet Tooth," explained Jaffe, "Black was the first title where we really started [exploring the] darker world of Twisted Metal, and so [the download is] kind of a look back to allow you to see where all that began. Hopefully you'll agree that this new [game] blows that whole world open."
In addition to the Limited Edition announcement, Sony also revealed Twisted Metal's boxart on the PlayStation Blog. The striking white cover focuses on the face of Sweet Tooth, while exploding vehicles punctuate the bottom half of the artwork.
We're desperate to see more of the game. Thankfully Jaffe promises there'll be plenty to talk about in the new year, as Twisted Metal's Valentine's day release date nears.
