Astro DualSense

Astro Bot is out in the wild, earning full marks from us in our 10/10 Astro Bot PS5 review! To celebrate launch day, Sony sent us the limited edition Astro Bot DualSense, and this thing is a beaut.

Sporting the eye-catching Astro white and blue combo, this DualSense stands out from the crowd, and is easily among our favourites of the other DualSense designs. Differentiating itself from other limited edition releases, the Astro controller features white thumbsticks, the ice-blue shapes on white buttons, snazzy sci-fi line indentations on the front of the controller, and the iconic Astro eyes on the touchpad.

We love the glossy finish to the blue on the sides of the controller, because it really makes the colour pop. The back of the controller is fairly simplistic with an all white backing featuring a small Astro logo, and the iconic tiny PlayStation shapes along the grips.

Probably the coolest thing about this controller though is that it actually features in Astro Bot. Astro's Dual Speeder — which is fitted with jets and wings obviously not featured in the real version — has the exact same colour design. Considering the DualSense mechanics baked into the game, it adds another wonderful layer of entertainment as we play through the game's fantastic levels.

We have to say though, it feels like a missed opportunity not having a controller with a reactive LCD type touchpad so Astro's eyes could emote as you play. Obviously, we're then talking about a far more expensive controller than this — which already sits at a pricey £70 — but we can't help but feel it would have been cool.
