The year is 2023, and Dead Island 2 is an actual video game that just released. If you can still remember the project's initial teaser trailer for all those years ago, then you might find this whole situation quite surreal. The craziest part, though? Against all odds, the game's actually good fun.
We gave this latest zombie-smushing hack and slasher a respectable 7/10 in our Dead Island 2 PS5 review, calling it "a refreshing surprise". We praised its "killer setting, brutal melee combat, and stunning graphics".
But are you sold on Dead Island 2? Will you be taking a trip to Hell-A this weekend? Have your say in our polls, and then explain your stance in the comments section below.

Game looks great but I just have to much to finish.
Had to choose between Jedi Survivor and Dead Island 2 and i picked Jedi for this months big gaming buy. I do plan on getting it though i just don't know when.
@WallyWest same
Only a week until SW Jedi survivor, then Redfall just a few days later…so Dead Island 2 has to wait I’m afraid. Probably get it down the road in a sale.
I'll likely get it sometime in the future when the price drops a bit.
I had to buy a washing machine instead
@Beerheadgamer82 I just had to buy a dryer lol stupid ‘planned obsolescence’
@WolfyTn ha life things always get in the way
I’ll buy it when it’s drops to about £30 I think give it a few months.
Probably wait for this to go on sale later in the year I've got too many other games still to finish.
I was into this game but auto level for enemies?
No, thanks.
‘27% No, Dead Island 2 just isn’t for me’ Yet the 27% still proceed to take part in a poll of a game they have no interest in? 🤔 alrighty then.
I’ve got this installed and ready to play later tonight, I can’t wait as it’s looks great.
I’d like to imagine them as the resident zombies we already have in our cities.
I still feel scarred from the final boss in the first game and how bad the game was leading up to that final insult of my intelligence. I do like the look of this but I recall having similar thoughts about the first game. I’m sure we all remember THAT trailer they put out before the game was anywhere close to being released.
This seems like an Extra game in a year or bargain bin in 6 months, either way I'm in no hurry to check it out. Although I'm excited it's linear.
Just been to asda ,bought dead island 2,cigarettes, whisky and pizza....tis the stuff of life 😁
@MaccaMUFC As someone who voted not interested, I just wanted to see where the PushSquare community stands on this game. Its not a crime right?
@MaccaMUFC well the option is there ,so why not ,myself personally thinks it looks like great fun,im looking forward to smashing some heads, with a large glass of whisky when I finish work 😁 ( obviously not smash the heads with the whisky, what a waste)
I gave up waiting for it, I've moved on from games built for Co-op/MP.
@MaccaMUFC
Typical Man Utd fan always complaining
Too much to play for the foreseeable future. Its always been a wait for sale game for me
My interest has definitely piqued after the decent reviews, but would like to play Dying Light 2 and a few other games I missed from last year before.
@CRASH64 Of course it isn’t a crime, I was just pointing out that quite a lot of people are taking an interest in an article and poll of a game they aren’t interested in, there’s an option to see the poll results without actually voting.
@tallythwack Sounds like it’s going to be a messy night round yours, see you in Hell-A! (If it has cross-play between PS5 and Series X that is).
@SolaceCreed Do you blame me after last nights performance? 🤦🏻♂️
Not yet.zombie games are always fun to play.more games is always welcome.word up son
I’m chilled gaming wise at the minute on all consoles. My next purchase will be TOTK.
I have not seen a single person play the multiplayer aspect of this game yet.
Was planning on getting it but it released too closely to the FF pixel remaster. Will get it at some point though
I have pre-ordered the Hell-A PS5 Edition, but the postal service unfortunately delayed the delivery. I will probably have it on monday instead, and it does look like a fun game.
I want it bad, I want it now. However there is the reality of my budget. Last week I purchased a new disc copy of RE Village for 20 bucks. The money I saved over the new price was used to purchase two hardbound books.
Loving it so far, good levelling with the zombies too as they stay at a decent difficulty with you.
Still, one gripe if I may. It's 2023, can devs please put more than four character models in? Sometimes I'm fighting a group of zombies and they are all exactly the same model. Surely we can fit in a few more?
My copy arrived today but I’m still working my way through Burning Shores. I’ve installed it so will probably play it over the weekend.
I’ve put in about an hour of the game because I had to stop playing due to work, but it was fun. I’m looking forward to playing more when I get the free time.
no. zero interest. dead island 1 was mid.
btw the only reason the ''i enjoy zombie games'' vote is so high is because of TLOU , LOL.
@nomither6 Dying Light's sold amounts would disagree with you.
@NoCode23 Books over games? How dare you!
@burning_as_souls dying light 1 came out , like , what , almost a decade ago??
dying light 2 is filler trash and didn’t surpass the first game , back 4 blood was a disgrace, what other zombie game is there ?
Oooh weeee Rick, it gotta 7. Can't believe the hype here. Oooooh booooy. burp
I had to choose Jedi Survivor and Horizon Burning Shores over Dead Island 2 sadly.
I'll grab DI2 in a future sale when it's dirt cheap...still need to play thru the first game and Riptide anyways.
Will have a blast on this tonight. I hope it's a good one
I can't bring myself to get the game. Just feel the name is tainted after the first game so it put me off. I know it has a different studio working on this one, it's just that the first game put me off Riptide and now this. I've no faith in the original developers so they put me off Dying Light too. Probably should have given this game a new name then I'd probably be more interested. I know it's silly, it's just reading or saying that name reminds me of the things I disliked about the original
@CRASH64 as a matter of fact, the site literally asked you whether you're interested lol
I'm playing it and enjoying it. I purchased the standard edition and don't regret it one bit. The level of polish and performance alone easily make this a £60 game - esp for zombie fans. For those unsure - Youtube has some great videos explaining how the game works and if it would be worth your time.
I don't usually like zombie/horror games but this is more like if GTA was linear with zombies. Has a good tone to it overall and the environmental design along with level design is great.
The best way to describe the tone is more horrible than horrific. TLOU is more horrific with all the happiness and fun sucked out of the world, and the violence has a very brutal tone to it.
Dead Island 2 is more bright and upbeat despite more realistic gore. The violence is more circus like than brutal.
I don't really have any interest in Redfall or any Star Wars games so this one was a no brainer for a purchase.
@NoCode23 Hey, smart. I do similar purchases. Save cash and get all the patches up-to-date
@MaccaMUFC LMAO 🤣 thanks for sharing. I think since i'm not interested, ill just vote for not interested instead. I promise you, my vote won't take away from your enjoyment or anyone else's.
