Continuing the insanity that is June's release schedule, Diablo 4 is out now on PS5 and PS4. The loot-heavy action RPG had been in development at Blizzard for what felt like an eternity at times, but it's finally here, and by most accounts, it's very, very good.
Want proof? Well, we gave it an 'excellent' 9/10 in our Diablo 4 PS5 review. We gushed about its atmosphere, tone, and gore-filled combat. "Diablo 4 is the true successor to the bad old days of action RPGs and oozes quality in its frenetic combat and deep, engaging character development," we concluded.
If you've been playing the game since early access began on the 2nd June, we imagine that you'll already be waist-deep in demon guts, but we still need to ask: are you playing Diablo 4? As always, vote in our polls, and then explain your desired character build in the comments section below.
Are you playing Diablo 4? (3,101 votes)
- Yes, I'm playing it
- Not yet, but I want to play it
- I'm not sure about the game yet

Are you a big fan of the Diablo series? (2,641 votes)
- Yes, I love Diablo
- Yeah, I enjoy Diablo
- Kind of, I've dabbled in Diablo before
- Nope, Diablo 4 will be my first Diablo game
- Nah, it's never really interested me
- No, I don't like Diablo at all

The deluge of games has started and Zelda is the clear winner for me, taking up basically all of my gaming time at the moment. Then it’s on to FFXVI, which I’ll likely be playing until sometime in August when I decide what to play next. I typically allow myself one new game a month and August is looking like a toss-up between Diablo, Street Fighter, Armored Core, and possibly Altus Fallen, which looks surprisingly good to me. Too many options and not nearly enough time…
This is a little far down the list for me. Ive barely scratched the surface with Zelda and have a while left before Im done with it. Next I want FF16, and I dont even have a PS5 yet. I do want Diablo 4 eventually, but I imagine it will be on sale eventually.
Diablo never really clicked with me. I mean sure I played 3 but by the end of that game I was ready to play something else. I don't get addicted to the min/maxing that a lot of the die-hards get into.
Nope.
As a HUGE Diablo fan this will be the one that I will not touch, unfortunately. I just do not like the way Blizzard approached this. Not everything has to be a MMORPG or some kind of variation of that genre.
Also, I watched the story online and it is so bad. So boring and uneventful.
It's going to be one hell of a battle for game of the year. What a freaking year.
I've tried hard to get on with isometric games over the years, but I've always struggled with them due to motion sickness. Playing them feels like trying to read while in a moving car.
I'm a huge RPG fan, but I've not been able to play some of the most popular RPGs due to this.
I'm not having that issue with this game at all for some reason.
Plus, the dark fantasy setting is fantastic.
It's just a shame that it's launched between Zelda and FF XVI, as both of them will take up most of my free time until Christmas. This will be the game I go to when there's nothing else to play.
I'll say this - Nothing beats exploding a mob of 20 or 30 enemies at once with a single arrow.
Played and enjoyed 3 but will have to wait snd see on this. Particularly need to see what the always online might limit, and how the trophy campaign is designed (hopefully no multiplayer requirement, I hear it might be necessary to play co-op for some late stage stuff generally…?)
I didnt plan to play it but I tried it during the second BETA weekend and became obsessed.
Played it today from midnight till 3am
Where's the "I can't support this company due to their treatment of their employees" option.
I’m holding off on it for now. I tried one of the betas and it simply doesn’t convince me to drop Zelda or put the breaks on FF16. I know many may disagree with me, but I’ve also always sort of felt like Diablo was a bit overrated as a series. I may get it at a later date, depending on what else releases this year.
The BS dynamic level scaling pretty much killed my hype for this. Had they not chosen to implement this lame gimmick, without the option to turn it off, I'd have grabbed it day 1. Though my partner still wants to pick it up at some point.
I'm not fussed about it personally. Don't really like the art and not my cup of tea. Will be passing, though I appreciate it's a high quality game!
Nah… Tears of the Kingdom is more fun!
This and SF6 have completely displaced ToTK for me. With FF16 coming up it might be months before I get back to Zelda, if at all. Even with all the new stuff I just felt like I was playing BoTW.
On topic: I'd previously tried to get into D2 and D3 but neither held my attention that long. I'm not sure what it is, but D4 is really holding my attention. Really loving the atmosphere, character building and the music. Like others have said, I struggle a bit with the perspective, but it's not a deal breaker for me.
I played the 2nd back on PC in the late 90's (?). I never got into it.
Nah. I kinda wish I was though. It does look a lot of fun but June is FFXVI month
Yeah i got it today, only done the Prologue so far though. Playing as a Sorcerer as usual.
@Shstrick Same here.
I'm still on Zelda. I guess I'll only get D4 when its expansion out or it goes on sale.
@hhrrsn Says the person using a device to type that what has ties to actual slavery.
I have never played a Diablo game but I’m interested in doing so. I just don’t need a game at the moment that takes full of control of my interests so I’m holding back for now. Looks like something I would enjoy
I will be getting it. But I just bought a stack of SquareEnix games and then FF16 this month
I mean, this is the gaming equivalent of liquid crack so like, yeah of course its great. As others have mentioned, i'm not super into the connected overworld; it's weird being able to walk from a snowcapped mountain top to an arid desert in like 2 minutes; feels small and constricted.
Also not a big fan of the level scaling; it's just... wrong. Other than that i'm having a blast with my rogue. That sweet, addictive loop oh boy.
Nope I have zero interest in it.
I was a HUGE fan of Diablo 1 and even bigger fan of Diablo 2. Diablo 3 was a flaming turd and I didn't like it. I am waiting to find out if Diablo 4 is more like Diablo 2 or 3. From what I gather, it's a mix of both, which might be OK.
Having an absolute blast with it!
It’s not my type of game. Playing Street Fighter 6 instead.
Sad that full price for a game isn’t enough for these mega-publishers. Let’s also tack on all this extra sh*t you can buy!!
This game seems gross like all Activision/Blizzard’s other whale hunts. I won’t support it.
@thefourfoldroot1 there's 1 multiplayer trophy. Gotta get pvp kills. The rest you can solo and be fine. Unless I over looked something.
Yes I'm playing, yes it's fantastic.
@TheCollector316 it's better than 2 and 3. 3 wasn't bad from game play. But not much of an end game. 70 dollars is a Lot to take a chance, but I wish everyone interested got to participate in the betta.
Never really got into Diablo or the many Diablo like games there are. I have never finished any of the games I started. Diablo 3 I played the most of any of them but after a while I get bored of the game-play loop and then move on to something else. Once I leave, the Game-play loop and story don't appeal more than many other games in my backlog, let alone 'newer' games I have access too, so I haven't felt compelled to return.
As such, I won't be buying Diablo 4 - especially not an 'online only' game in a genre and series I don't particularly enjoy, but not adverse to 'trying' it without paying for it (a gift from someone, a Sub Service or some competition prize I won). So I doubt I'll be playing anytime soon either...
If it's your thing, As long as you are happy and enjoying it, that's all that matters - can't say that about many games at launch these days...
I have played Diablo 1 and 2 enough to know it’s not for me. My brother probably spent several millions of hours on it though.
I was waiting until it comes to gamepass so I can play handheld but I don't think I can wait that long. I'm very tempted to buy it on PS5 this Friday after work, also my partner is interested in playing the story co op with me.
Deos anyone know how co op works? If I play on my account and she joins will she earn trophies as well? And when we play again will she regain her character and loot from the last time we played?
As someone who disliked Diablo 3, should I give this one a chance or is it too similar?
No, I'm not a big ARPG person so I decided not to buy Diablo 4. I enjoy watching it though.
Level 29 sorc atm. My first Diablo and I am enjoying it . Also started a second hardcore char sitting at level 11. Thats a really hard way to play with the fear of him dying in mind.
@Pat_trick
I am wondering this as well. All the live service stuff mixed in, including $21 cosmetic armor, really has given me pause. That and I didn't like Diablo 3.
I'm just starting it. Gonna roll a rogue. Wish me luck.
Got way more than the price of admission with Diablo 3. But given the landscape and backlog of other games can’t justify the price tag or the time at the moment.
On another note. The always online thing is still a stickler for me. Perhaps at some point
Yes, I'm starting that program right now. 😀
I love Diablo, but I’m not getting this just yet. I’m still working on Zelda and I’m feeling I’m gonna get SF6 instead.
I played a decent amount of the original Diablo on PC. I enjoyed it at the time. Every subsequent game I've just found exceedingly tedious. I've been told I'm playing it "wrong", but yeah, if I have to beat it 5 times before it becomes "fun", well, yeah...
@hhrrsn "Where's the "I can't support this company due to their treatment of their employees" option."
I commend you mate! Thats the option I chose.
It hurts, as couch co op with my wife In Diablo 3 is a fond memory.
But Im still utterly lost in Hyrule, and only expect to leave there for FF16, so at least im not stuck for games 😊
@Titntin by not buying the game you're not making a difference - but if you were you'd be hurting their employees more than they do. Bad sales hurts the employees and risk their careers.
As fond as my memories of Diablo 3 somehow are, I can’t justify spending £70 on it. Couple that with the flaming turd of a company that ActiBlizz are, and I’m just going to wait until I can buy it second hand.
Still, looking forward to it when that happens.
@JohntheRaptor While you are right about the individual difference, that cuts both ways. The employees are not going to see those profits- it’ll all go to their shareholders. Don’t forget 2018- where they reported record profits and laid off 800 employees.
Been playing since last week courtesy of early access and this game is like crack. Cannot stop.
Nope and never will boring af to me
Never played the first one, 2nd one was alright, loved the 3rd one and am loving this one.
Nah I'm still on Street Fighter 6 and likely will be for a long time. Plus I've never really been interested in Diablo. Cool for the folks interested though that it seems like a great game.
It's funny I like the odd top down dungeon crawler/arpg but I can't get into Diablo.
so much games to choose right now.
but how can i go for another one than diablo. its one of my favourite serie
@Pat_trick i played them all. the 4 kind of remind me a mix of the second diablo and one those baldur gate dark alliance and champions of norrath games.
if youre not sure, you could always wait for a deal.
@thefourfoldroot1 no co-op necessary!
@Samholy Thanks for the info!
I'd like to play it but I will sometime in the future. Just so much to play at the moment with stuff like Tears being such a big game and me being addicted to Splatoon 3 doesn't help either lmao
Diablo 3 was the first Diablo game I played on the PS4. I do want Diablo 4 but I'm not a fan of Microsoft might buy ActivisionBlizzard
I am waiting for the ball to drop and they start charging 60-90 quid for expansions+battlepass every year just like destiny/bungie if activision play as normal
My game of the year! Absolutely loving it! Much prefer it to Zelda.
@Psnfanboy79 what's that got to do with anything?
@Toot1st I don't want to support nothing under the Microsoft umbrella. Did that response answer ur question?
Next up.
Diablo 4 (SteamDeck) for when stuck at a hotel for work and FF16 (PS5) at home on the couch.
That is the plan... Good times
Once the off line, single player campaign with all available DLC packs and patches are available, then yes. I will play.
I'll play it when it's cheap
@Psnfanboy79 Dude come on. Get over yourself. We all play and love games. Stop being so irrational and short sighted. Good. Lord.
Nah I’m not a fan of point and click games which have no reflexes or skills involved.
@cburg wait so setting aside his love for games and taking a stand for ideals he believes in is short sighted? It's exactly the opposite and should be applauded.
I like vidja games.
Anything blizzard conjures just feels like a soulless husk that focuses more on addictive elements that pander to our worst basic human faults, rather than being fun and engaging. So yeah, I'll continue playing Zelda until FF16 is out.
Nope, just started playing diablo 2 remastered, bought it months ago but distracted by other games.
After finishing diablo 2 remastered I plan to buy diablo 4 since I'm a big fan of the series, I hope the game will be a bit cheaper then and updated with more content 😃
Well i would be seeing as its my week off but hit.com have failed to send it as of yet. Usually very reliable but i'm not impressed this time..
Nope, not a Diablo fan. I do hope all the people playing are having fun though!
Diablo's the only couch co-op game my wife and I play together.
Started playing it last night, love it so far
@JohntheRaptor As if the employees would see any of it anyway!
Of course my lack of purchase wont make a difference, I believe its already the fastest selling game in the franchise.
But I live my life according to my own values, and im content to do this. Everybody shrugging their shoulders and thinking 'my behaviour wont make a difference' is why we are destroying the very planet we live on, but thats another can of worms.
What I wont do is point a finger at those that are enjoying the title, I hope they love it. Everyone makes their own choices.
All of you playing this are part of the problem with the gaming industry.
A full priced game with egregious microtransactions could do with falling flat on its arse and losing millions to send a message to publishers that's they've gotten too greedy.
What do we do instead? Make it the largest launch in ABKs history.
We deserve everything we get. The industry deserves to walk all over us and ruin our hobby. We've literally begged them to do it, at this point.
@TheCollector316 it's like Diablo 3 and that terrible mobile game rolled into one. If you actually liked Diablo back in the day, don't buy this. This isn't Diablo any more. It's the next cash cow for ActivisionBlizzard.
@Ipslore ah, Diablo 3 and the introduction of the real money auction house.
That's where it started going wrong.
@Titntin well said, and spot on.
I will eventually buy it on PSN sale. If it was not always requiring internet connection I would have bought the physical on release date. So it’s a game I want to play but being always online means no point buying physical and I do not intend to pay full price for this when I have backlog galore.
For me D4 is a polished D3 game. Better graphics, some new story some new characters but overall same game than before. Like a car racing game where only the levels are brand new but everything is pretty much the same. If somebody is a huge fan I can understand and I'm not judging, we all like different things and this is why there is a large palette of games available.
@Zuljaras This is by far the best story in a Diablo game, what are you on???
Hadn't touched the PS5 in like forever. Diablo IV brought me back.
@FatalBubbles Different views, I guess. For you is the best for me is the worst ... yes, for me even the story in Diablo 3 is better
@Zuljaras It seems the consensus is that it’s the best but you’re correct, everyone can differ on opinion.
@KundaliniRising333 Ideals? That's a good one. How about brainwashed.
@Pat_trick personally I was also not a huge fan of 3. I played the main campaign and never picked it up again. I am LOVING Diablo 4. Were you a WoW player? They definitely added some WoW feel in, it feels like they took the best elements of Diablo and WoW and put them together.
@MattBoothDev I don't agree at all. The cash cosmetics are just that, cosmetics. There's plenty of good looking loot in the game, no need to buy stuff.
@MattBoothDev I do agree having a full priced game with included micro transactions is BS though, but I combat that by not spending more cash. If people buy into it, they are the problem feeding the micro transaction world.
@JigsawPieces you guys will have so much fun! My husband and I play together as well,
@Ailani I used to play old school WoW. That actually makes me a bit more interested in the game. In what way is it like WoW?
@Ailani the argument for "it's just cosmetics", with regards to the industry, for me, at least, died years ago.
I personally don't see the need to change money for the cosmetics. The industry takes a lot of money off us, with the extra cost on games, season passes, digital deluxe and mega editions. A £50 game is now, easily, £100, then there's microtransactions on top.
Now the problem, as I see it, with buying these games at all is that the publisher sees that only , say, 10% of players become "payers" so they try to figure out ways of making you pay next time.
Edit:
I think this makes my case quite well, there are a number of patents like this, Google "Call Of Duty players get easier lobbies if they pay, new documents suggest". Clearly a sign some people in the industry think not buying MTX makes you a second class player, and the whales will love the idea that they get better treatment for wasting their money.
Lvl 47 Frost Sorc. Good build and i find Veteran (world lvl 2) too easy already
@MattBoothDev Total BS. How is the game You BOUGHT for 50 quid and You NEVER do cosmetics is suddenly 100 quid to You?
Diablo is 69.99 Euro and it is way longer than most single player games out there. I am currently at 34 hours on PS5 and i am just 47 lvl
@Tr3mm0r I'll assume English isn't your native language.
I said that what used to be a £50 game is now a £100 game for the same experience/completeness.
Games used to be £50 and include cosmetic items and unlockable content in the same price. Now it's £70 for the base game, £30 for the "Season Pass" and an in-game store selling games currency for real money.
If Metal Gear Solid 1 was made today, the bandana, stealth camouflage and tuxedo would be £4.99 each. Disc 2 would be another £25 as DLC.
If you bothered to Google the phrase in my comment (I'm not sure how the rules are with posting external links) you'd see that publisher's are trying their hardest to push everyone into paying for microtransactions after they've bought the game.
I voted "it's not for me" but it's not the exact answer. I would like to play the game, but I'm boycotting Blizzard since their behaviour towards a player who demonstrated his support for Hong Kong freedom movement. Then Blizzard put forth several lies, explaining how they ban all political content and how it wasn't big of a deal.
Until the company comes clean in that regard I won't pay a single cent to them.
it may sound "naive" or "immature", but I'm none of those things. I have first hands experience with a dictatorship and despise every entity that suppresses people who's against this.
@Psnfanboy79 fake gamer
