Well, it's finally here. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is out now on PS5, and the highly anticipated sequel seems to be crashing in on a tidal wave of hype. This is easily the biggest PlayStation release of the year so far, and we want to know if you're joining Cloud and company on this remade adventure.
We gave the game a 'great' 8/10 score in our Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth PS5 review, concluding that "If you can push through the tedium of its open world busywork and padded storytelling, there's a great sequel at the heart of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth." Indeed, we think Rebirth's highs outweigh its lows — it's a sequel that's packed with memorable moments, and seeing whole parts of Final Fantasy 7's world realised in full 3D is still quite surreal.
So, are you jumping into Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth? Have you been eagerly waiting on this one? Have your say in our polls, and then tell us of your plans in the comments section below.

Was up all night after midnight with it, got about 6 hours sleep, and I've been playing it all day.
I've only stopped for tea and to walk the dog.
Feels like I've been waiting a quarter of a century for this one.
I'm spending bunches of time stopping and looking and going "oh wow that's cool". Some of the Remake jank is still there (about a minute trying to "grab" a materia) but oh the love put into this. And I am here for every pixel I can find.
Got my copy already yesterday and took a week off from work. I'm more than ready
Soon 😈😈 Download is halfway through 😎😎
No, and I don't know if I will ever get round to it, to the extent I am considering looking up the story now as I am keen to hear what they have done with it... hmmmm.
I can’t wait to get home and play it. Remake was my GotY in 2020 and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Rebirth conquer 2024 (looks like Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the only real competition, based on the current release schedule). I haven’t been more excited about playing a game this much since maybe the lead up to Death Stranding.
Not yet until Saturday sadly but I will be there and I will enjoy every second of it. I can't wait
I have never thought much of all the twists and reveal in FFVII as it was such an old game, but I keep getting so excited thinking of all the people who will be playing it for the first time that may not know how the story plays out. I can not wait to get off work to start playing!
I was pretty lukewarm on the first one (and just finished it a couple months ago). I'm going to wait for a sale before committing to this one. Hopefully it hits $20 sometime next year.
I am currently unavailable due to very important personal matters 🌸
My mantra for the next weeks
Still waiting for my copy to arrive
I'm trying to get a PS5 of a mate, curse me not ever getting one. Not sure I can hold out till it gets a release on other platforms.
In the meantime, I'll smash through Crisis Core so I understand who Cissnei is.
Yep had it pre-ordered. So far its been great though the visuals seem a bit washed out.
There isn't an option for playing it at launch but it is noon on a workday! Just give me a few hours
I’m not a huge FF fan, so I’ll keep going with some other great PS exclusives I’ve been playing on the PS5 in recent weeks.
The only Final Fantasy I’ve played is FFXV Royal Edition on Game Pass a few years back and I wasn’t a fan. It took me 10 months just to finish the game, procrastinating it constantly. One of these days I might try XVI or one of the remakes.
Loving it. Kinda feels surreal to be playing it. Really glad I booked 9 days off to play it, although at the rate I'm going, I'll only need 2!
I wish I was, but it seems like no big box stores near me are even carrying it (seriously). Amazon wasn't offering "Day 1 Arrival" when I was going to pre-order.
I don't have time to go to GameStop today.
It will be here tomorrow.
I’m most definitely playing it. So far, the biggest compliment I can give the game is that everything is so much more refined and polished compared to Remake. It’s fantastic so far.
Not t until the visual problems are fixed, or it goes on steep discount.
Full price for what they rushed on in the polish dept is just no Bueno. This was initially a day one for me but the demo and some honest accounts helped solidify that for me, this isn't a quality Launch product technically speaking. Much like Jedi Survivor, however this is far More muddy and blurry an affair.
Not the way I want to experience its initial Playghrough.
Planned on buying day one but the demo turned me off. And I read some reviews saying the game has a lot of padding which I'm tired off atm so I'll get it on sale instead.
I've wanted to wait until all the games were released but I might be geriatric by then. I'm starting my playthrough of the original this weekend and then the remake and then I will pick this up.
I just can’t get excited about the 9999th game in this universe.
Not touching it in its current state. Waste of a playthrough.
I'll play it when it hits PC.
Enjoy, everyone!
I will definitely will.i got too many games to play.and final fantasy 7 rebirth looks really good.word up son
I scheduled a whole week off to play it. I just have to finish what is sure to be the longest shift of my life.
I'm playing Tales of Arise. Surprisingly decent.
I started it yesterday. Come to think of it the only recent games I have in PS5 are Final Fantasy games
@Ralizah I will definitely play it again in the Steam Deck when it eventually arrives on PC. Hoping for no Epic Games exclusivity non sense this time around.
I absolutely will but I'm still occupied with Banishers. I also want to try Pacific drive, Rise of the ronin, Alone in the dark and so on but right now I have extreme little time for gaming... But hey, at least I can't complain that I don't have anything to play with for at least half a year...
Yes started soon as home from work, luckily a pretty quiet weekend ahead!
I work from home so snuck in some play time during my lunch break. Really happy with it so far (but only an hour in).
@KundaliniRising333
The visual stuff from the demo has been fixed for some time already.
Started on the game few hours ago and it looks insanely beautiful, it's gorgeous especially on graphics mode (if you don't mind 30 fps, on tv it's fine imho), but on performance mode it still ooks beautiful too.
All the 'it doesn't look good' posts are just people parroting eachother without having played the game really.
@savarunl rigggggght because I didn't try it after the demo update, and ign, as well as digital foundry didn't also highlight/confirm the visual issues just today. All of these things happened, and I genuinely hoped their update would fix thiglngs meaningfully. They just didn't. Even pushsquare made an article about it mins ago and they tend to market more than anything else.
It may not bother you, but to outwardly pretend something doesn't exist just because of Fandom is just misinformation.
@Nei games are great but taking care of yourself is always number one. Rebirth will be there when you’re back. Hope all goes well 🙏
@belmont Didn't even consider that, but you're right!
Well, whatever. I'll wait as long as possible for it to come to Steam. EGS isn't getting my money. Definitely one for the Steam Deck!
@KundaliniRising333 Definitely. I played the demo last night and performance mode was shockingly blurry. As if the hdmi wasn't connected properly or was damaged.
Uterrly blown away, 5 hours in and I'm still nesr Kalm lol.
Cannot get enough, this is exactly what I wanted from this game.
@savarunl I think the game looks really good, but performance mode is definitely too blurry, even for me and I'm used to playing my games at 1080p!
Really wanna jump in but I'm just too busy with backlog/other things right now. I shall pick it up layer in the year though
Went in to Argos earlier in the hope I could snag a day early copy and saw it’s priced at £60 and not the £70 it’s priced on PSN. Is this a pricing mistake or perhaps a pre order lower price incentive?
Really loving it so far. I can see that this game will make me tear up, it has already. Having played the original ff7 and having been inspired by it, you feel so connected to some of these characters your immediately invested. Add to that some trully excellent sound tracks and best in class direction and its likey to be my goty.
@BusyOlf no, physical is cheaper than digital. You could have got the game for £54 from Hit.co.uk.
Hi there fellow gamers.
Yes, I´m playing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and yes I played Remake as well.
On a break for some food and checking news before going back and continue to play.
The game is very good. And they made the combat much more apealing, reactive and responsive. Exactly what I wanted.
It´s a good thing myself and a few others, like my friends @Shepherd_Tallon and @Bentleyma booked some days to play this.
The game is BIG and there is a lot to do. And fun too. Very fun.
You can just keep exploring the way you see fit.
I already know I´ll be spending more than 100 hours for sure.
Cheers everyone and happy gaming to us all
Still on Chapter 6 of Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth (Dondoko island has been a complete time sink) - i think i'll need to put that on hold as really want to start this before inevitable spoilers come out
Received the game, started downloading it and at around 75%, my 20-year old cat suddenly passed away. We were not expecting it. We believe she had a heart attack. Super depressing way to start the day
@KundaliniRising333
Nothing to do with 'fanboyism' and everything to do with parroting, like i said before.
Yes, there are few very minor things where it doesn't look as great as the rest of the world. But the graphics are still stunningly beautiful, this is even what it says in the article you mentioned....
People are absolutely nitpicking here, it doesn't even remotely look bad, not in performance mode either. Apart from some spots where there is a little bit of bluriness, it's not like you are ven noticing it when you aren't exactly trying to find that.
These issues existed before the patch, for sure, but thye really did fix it with the 1.010 patch, heres a performance mode comparison screenshot to show:

Waa waa game is unplayable cause it doesn't have 8k omega-textures, waaaaah. Like get real, there's few games on the market that look better than this game right now, especially open world ones.
I am playing today...once it finishes the longest install ever 😖
@savarunl agreed. People must be playing on 70 inch TVs or something. Barring a few low res textures it looks stunning on my monitor
@BusyOlf physical is always lower. Mine was £52 but I've seen it at £48.
I will be soon.
@CWill97 Aww, I'm so sorry. ❤️🐈😭 I spent the last 7 weeks boarding my neighbours lovely 21 year old orange cat. Just seeing her go home yesterday made me sad. 🥺
@RaZieLDaNtE @Titntin
It's really an experience isn't it?
Every narrative driven game I've played for the last 25 years, I've compared them all to the original FF VII.
Everywhere I look in this game I'm bombarded with nostalgia.
Going through the Yuffie DLC currently. I’m very excited to play this, just not quite sure when I will yet. Hope everyone’s having fun!
Still waiting for my freaking copy to get here from Amazon.
With all the dumb changes to the story I've been saying "I've never been more excited to play a game that will make me so mad". Lol
It won’t be at launch but I will get to it.
@CWill97 I'm terribly sorry for your loss. My cat passed away suddenly last July and it still hurts. Also may have been a heart attack.
Of course, already a few hours in, Top Game as expected what a game 🤙🏻
Just finished Remake last night. Liked parts, but it has horrible pacing issues (and I don’t mean the side quests). The cutscenes, & high frequency that the games takes control away, and how slow everyone walks & talks even during an emergency. Dunkey’s video review was spot on. Are those issues any better in Rebirth?
@Dragonaged @EVIL-C thank you both! Pets are additional family members to us, so it’s challenging. She was like a mom to our dogs, always watching out for her little buddies everywhere. So it’s a tough loss. But thank you for the kind words!
Not playing it at launch (Im busy with Persona 3) but bought the special deluxe digital edition and instantly regret it. That Square content viewer app is awful, the so called artbook is a joke, its just a glorified browser that redirects to online high res images. Really disappointed with it. It’s the Last time I buy a digital deluxe edition from Squareenix, that’s for sure.
Buying it after work today and it will be my weekend game
@AlienigenX I was debating on buying that but you just saved me some $$$ thanks
I’m really enjoying it it’s a good game but man this is when I wished I had nostalgia for the original like the hardcore fans do because it would help to overlook all the problems. The world can be beautiful but way too inconsistent graphics wise and the sidequests are still poop and barely better than part one I would love if they were Horizon FW,Witcher 3,Cyberpunk 2077 and GOW Ragnarok level. The overarching story is pretty bad but the character interactions are great and I really love the combat. The open world feels like a gen ago I mean ubi towers when even ubi quit doing that ages ago lol and there is nothing unique to discover at landmarks hell anywhere that isn’t marked with an icon. I would probably give it an 8 so far but I still have tons of game to go so maybe it will get better. Oh and their slow walking sections are literally worse than any other game that has them
@somnambulance Like a dragon: Infinite Wealth would have something to say about that.
Not a Final Fantasy player but definitely a big Fan of Tifa Lockhart! 😉😂💪🏽👍🏽
@SpayMe11 I’ve never personally been able to fully immerse myself in a Yakuza/Like a Dragon title. I’ve tried, man, have I tried, as they seem like they should be right up my alley, but no dice. Objectively, I know Infinite Wealth is a fantastic game, but the series just doesn’t click with me in gameplay. The cutscenes are fun to watch as a movie though. I love the tone of the series and the ideas in it, but there’s just a wall between me playing it and enjoying it from a far. To be honest, Baldur’s Gate 3 never really clicked with me last year either. I put well over 30 hours trying to get there, but it just wasn’t for me. And God of War is another one that I see the merits in what the series does, but it’s just not a favorite of mine. That’s not to say that critically acclaimed titles don’t hit it for me, but that I try to try every game I can and, given this, not everything sticks to me, even stuff I’d think would be in my palette. Those are three games that absolutely feel like they should be among my favorites on paper, but it’s just not so. At least I can say I’ve tried.
As of right now, I think Balatro is my front-runner for GotY, narrowly edging out Prince of Persia, both of which were very pleasant surprises to me as I expected next to nothing from either of them. After getting through Chapter 1 in Rebirth, however, it’s already obvious the scope, the ambition, the magnitude of FF7 will be hard to topple. I can see it rising to the top for me. I’ve loved every Final Fantasy title though (FF16 was #2 on my 2023 list, behind Alan Wake 2, and the FF series has had more GotYs from me than any other series. Admittedly this means nothing outside for the order my OCD imposes, but such as it is, I appreciate the series very much), so there’s an inherent and strong nostalgia and bias for Rebirth that is perhaps only matched in Mario or Zelda or Kojima games for me.
I’m getting it but I still never beat part 1. So…. No rush here.
I wish! I pre-ordered the europe Deluxe edition from Play-Asia but all the site shows is "Pending Stock Arrival" and the Customer Service hasn't responded to my email asking for an update. May have to go through PAYPAL and get a refund.
I've used them for 13 years and never had such issues with them.
I love this game so far, 100% completed the Green Lands and started working on the Junon area
I like it more than the Final Fantasy VII Remake even though the performance mode looks worse and some graphical downgrades have been made.
I would say, just play the game in graphics mode for now, hopefully they'll fix the performance mode blur eventually.
I'm looking forward to it! I need to finish Persona 3 Reload and Final Fantasy VII Remake before I can even get into it though. A couple of my family members have already been playing it, and I'm super excited to get into it once I get the chance.
Why is there no option for have not received in the mail yet? Collectors edition...
I will say I loved the first movie(game), but it is overrated in terms of a game. It's more of an interactive movie.
I’m playing Queen’s Blood with the occasional dip into Final Fantasy 😂
Absolutely loving it so far. Really taking my time with it, and basically going “ooooooh” on average every 5-10 mins. The cinematic set pieces are huge, the score feels epic, the combat insanely satisfying and spending more time with these characters is just a joy.
Safe to say, I’m enjoying it!
@Shepherd_Tallon Absolutely.
And the MUSIC elevates the game´s experience even more.
I honestly didn´t know what to think about Remake´s story differences, but now I´m all for it.
Very curious what they will do with Zack´s story though.
And Cloud´s as well. Because that intro...... Game is going places alright.
Cheers and have a good one
It's the first FF I've not pre-ordered since XII. I'm not sure when I'll pick it up. I will, but I'm in no rush. Lightning Returns, XV, XVI, and part 1 were all enjoyable enough, but have pushed the series pretty far away from the required reading of most games prior.
Where the option that says "no, but I'm here for the Tifa hentai"
No option for “not yet but my preorder is at the store” I see.
I'm in my late 50's and I've never played a single Final Fantasy game.
@CD456 Then imo you've seriously missed out. I'm 60 this year myself and have played all of them since the original releases in the west. I count myself lucky to have enjoyed them.
I'll admit jrpgs are not for everyone of course, but even without the nostalgia, this is world class story telling media that Id suggest is worth a try if you ever get a chance for cheap. Meantime, have fun with whatever you do enjoy! 😁
I bought it but not playing it yet. Have to get through the final stretch of Remake first.
Gonna snag it on the weekend
@PinderSchloss it’s a big universe though and each game is different to the last, so keep an open mind and one of these Final Fantasy’s might excite you one day.
I’m so behind. I have the remake and want to play it, just haven’t had time. I will play that first. Hoping that will give Square time to fix the performance mode resolution and lighting problems. I’ll def get this game at that point.
Loving it so far. I can't believe it can take you 8 hours or more to go from post-flashback Kalm to the other side of the Mythril mines. It would be about 20 minutes in the original. Really makes the world feel huge and busy with lots of different things and characters.
@CD456 Well that's actually the perfect age to have played them in the past. The first one would've come out when you were about 10 (though not in Europe, but still, most people that played the NES ones would be about your age).
I pre ordered and have it but no probably not till later in the year. Back log first. I wonder if anyone else is not playing this game yet so they can finish blue reflection second light, or if its just me.
@Kienda I have been excited for these games for many years. But I’m just burnt out. There’s so many other Final Fantasy universes they could have explored.
Still waiting for that Laguna spin-off and more FF9 love. So I guess seeing Cloud is now a reminder of how they milk one and neglect the rest.
Not yet, but maybe one day.
Man, I might be in the minority ,but this game is a chore to play through. Feel like I got to suffer to get to the story, cause the actual gameplay is just not fun. If it was not for the nostalgia(music, environments, themes) I would have hung this game up already. The combat is not very good, Witcher 3 levels or boring, the map marker activities are the bane of my existence lol. The mini games hold this game up a lot. I like the Queens Blood ironically(not normally a thing I think I would enjoy lol)
