Another of 2023's blockbuster games has just landed on PS5. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is out now on Sony's current-gen console, and it's already attracted some very, very positive reviews. The direct sequel to 2019's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, players once again find themselves in the well-worn boots of Cal Kestis, a Jedi, er, survivor who's fighting against the destruction of his order.
We absolutely loved this one, giving it a rare 9/10 in our Star Wars Jedi: Survivor PS5 review. "Star Wars Jedi: Survivor does what any successful sequel should do: it expands on the foundations of the first game and does everything better," we wrote in our glowing conclusion.
But as always, we want to know if you're playing this latest PS5 hit. Have your say in our polls, and then join the Jedi order in the comments section below.

Adding it to that ENORMOUS backlog! 🤪
I was going to buy it today, but after all of the bad performance reports I’ve seen I’ll pick it up sometime down the road.
Going to wait for a significant price drop due to the full game not being on the disc version. Has a good possibility of being my Black Friday purchase of the year.
If EA had simply released a two disc version physically with the entire game on disc, I'd have bought it full price as soon as I finish the first.
not a star wars fan. probably never gonna play it.
But then, I said that for guardians of the galaxy and spiderman.
had to wait for them to be free on the pass and man these game were worth it.
So, i hope it comes on the pass or on a huge sale.
I'm playing it, no issues, no blurriness, no stuttering, nothing, so far so good... mind you, I'm playing in a PS5 in resolution mode with a HDMI 2.1 capable telly and a HDMI 2.1 certified cable... much better than fallen order,
Yes i am and its been good but god the performance is bad plus loads of screen tearing and broken HDR.
Will probably play when it is available on EA Access one year later.
Really enjoying it. The music is fantastic. No technical issues for me so far (PS5).
I play very few games on release nowadays. And considering all the chat of bugs, crashes and more in reviews I think it's wise to wait on this one.
I will 100 percent be getting this game. But as of now I'm still working on Octopath Traveler 2 and Resident Evil 4.
I just finished Burning Shores yesterday so I do plan to start Star Wars tonight!
I want to play it but the physical version has to download a huge chunk of the game, so I'll probably play it on Sunday.
@Uncharted2007 I actually have a weird version of events. My installation didn't come with a single update (as in, the Downloads tab didn't show a separate update for the updates, nor did it continue installing after putting the console in rest - which it usually does for games that aren't fully "on the discs", at least making that distinction clear).
I already platinumed RE4 Remake but im going for another run. I can't put it down just yet. Once Im done im either gonna start this or Burning Shores. Im not sure which one yet.
Going to wait a few months, not playing much at the moment, in a bit of gaming slump, not sure if getting too old, or games just too big these days, but mostly playing vr when i do. But next big games im playing probably spider man and starfield. Not a bad thing as i still want to play few games like dead space, resi4, dead island 2 and star wars but will pick them up later when cheaper.
@KaijuKaiser I specifically looked into the PS5 version and people are reporting that it’s fine, not good, but still has quite a few issues.
I’m just over letting these companies think it’s okay to release a game with the intention of fixing it in the future.
I’m not going to give them their day one week one success sales numbers.
@Loamy day 1 patch is out now? I played some around lunchtime and it ran like absolute dogsh*t
Decided to get in the mood playing Fallen Order again, but now I want to finish it (also to remember what happened), but since we’ve got a load of bank holidays in the UK this month, I should get to it too. Fingers crossed the worst issues will be patched out by then
I really liked Fallen Order, I thought it was a pretty good 3D Metroidvania. I'm sure Survivor is cool, I just play very few games at launch so I'll circle back to this sometime in the future.
I installed it but I won't start it before I get all trophies in Burning Shores, which could take a while.
On the bright side, maybe it'll get another patch in the meantime
@cassiel well my version 1.2 is fuzzy blurry and does feature clipping and stuttering
Latest update too
Ps5
Not yet, but only because I'm on vacation at the moment. I'll start playing in on Sunday.
Waiting for the trophy bugs to be patched, I’ve been burned too many times before :”)
My wife's bought me it for my birthday so a week to wait still lol
No way I’ll finish it before TotK so I’ve decided to wait.
@Styledvinny79 Everything is fine, on my side, perhaps is your HDMI cable?, or are you using the proper HDMI input in your telly?... when is stuttering, clipping is related to poor cable connection, or you are not using the proper 2.1 input.
After reading the reviews, I’m inspired to finally try out Fallen Order, which I’ve had for ages, but I’m not sure I’ll actually play it or not yet.
Just finished and enjoyed (for the most part) Fallen Order, so will probably wait a while on Survivor. Possibly next Black Friday, but maybe before.
I went ahead and picked it up just to support Respawn and single player games, but I think I’m going to do a Platinum run of Fallen Order before jumping into Survivor. And of course that’s after I finish my current run of Breath of the Wild and then Tears of the Kingdom. Also assuming FFXVI isn’t out by then.
First one was cool except for when it wasn't The maps were annoying at times and the combat was generally good but could also be really obnoxious. Everything I've read about the sequel is that they've basically doubled-down on the first one with even bigger/more complex maps and similar combat. Seems like one of those where if you liked the first one you'll really like the sequel, but if not, the sequel isn't much different, just more of the same plus dual lightsabers and more cosmetics.
I'm sure I'll play it eventually once it goes on sale, but not itching to play it or anything.
Too many games at the moment. And then, of course, in two weeks TEARS OF THE KINGDOM. JEDI: SURVIVOR, DIABLO 4, and FFXVI will all have to wait a bit me thinks. Will probably be able to get them on sale by then anyway.
Not yet but i will play star war jedi soon.star wars jedi fallen order is a really good game.word up son
"and it's already attracted some very, very positive reviews" - this joke made my day)
From what I've seen on Twitch I can conclude that this game is a buggy and boring waste of time, aggressively average and doesn't bring anything new. I will not play this game even if they add it to PS+.
@Soulless666 it’s actually very good. You should try it.
@DB10 Honestly, I'm a Star Trek guy (80's - Reboot movie trilogy). I never truly enjoyed Star Wars with the exception of Jedi Academy (PC). I'm playing through the first game to this... it's the best Star Wars game I've played and has come the closest to pulling me into the series. I recommend at least giving it a shot. It's a well told story with fun gameplay.
@ItsBritneyB_tch
This was one more joke of the day for me. I'm good, thanks. =)
@Soulless666 are you though? It seems like you want to hate the game. Give it a chance and form your own opinion.
With it I have now 7 active playing games. But Jedi Survivor goes to the top of the list, as Star Wars is my primary franchise in any media.
@PenguinLtd Same the technical performance issues and seemingly releasing the game knowing it had issues (hence their prerelease announcement), definitely screams wait for sale.
No. I am busy with other games, but even if I wasn't, I would probably still have passed on it at launch.
Hell yes. This is my holdover game until Zelda TotK.
@OmegaStriver Ditto
Only playing the opening level buy sp ts a lot better than fallen order, the maps a lot easier to navigate and sidekick is cool
Will get it at a Walmart or Target end of year sale. I haven't quite beaten Ragnarok, then I have both Horizons and both Last of Us. FFXVI and AC6 too. Thats a lot of games.
Hoping by Christmas the game gets better than 25-30 fps and doesn't crash as much as a Twisted Metal vehicle... if not? Glad I skipped.
I want to play it pretty badly but gaming companies are making it harder to justify Day 1 purchases. Way too many bugs and incomplete products have changed my mindset in buying games earlier. I don’t want to play a version that‘s much less polished. This sounds like a perfect Black Friday game deal to me.
Managed to get a few hours in today and it’s very good. There are some technical issues which hopefully get ironed out in the next patch but they aren’t prevalent enough to ruin the overall experience
***wow, the media really glossed over the technical issues still existing across all Platforms...
Jesus. In this case it really doesn't have any justification and is highly suspect. I say that because the performance across all platforms before the day zero patch was absolutely broken, terrible... so even Outlets that try to say that they went and played a little bit more after the day zero Patch was released and thus it seemed fixed, have a lot of explaining to do.
unless maybe they just tried the first area / tutorial section and didn't actually look at beyond that before they decided to give this game glowing reviews....
HDR is busted as well, although there are temporary fix videos for that...
This trend of releasing gamse technically unfinished, and the inconsistent reporting and reviews when it comes to big budget big publisher titles has got to stop...
Not playing it yet, it sounds pretty great though. I still have to finish the first one though.
Xenoblade Future Redeemed however is consuming a lot of my time lately…I did pick up the Pixel Remasters and Chrono Cross lately on PS4.
My backlog like many others here is…excessive.
SO I got to planet kobol and this performance is just terrible on performance mode, I tried quality mode for about 20 seconds before I had to change it because I got literal motion sickness from playing it. To think that the console versions are bad but the PC versions are far worse is inexcusable and has ruined the launch of this game, the worst thing about this is this game is amazing and has improved on literally every facet of Fallen Order. Guess I'm going to wait for the patches because this game deserves better performance and I can't handle the drop to 15 fps in open areas.
@GorosBat probably wise to wait. Thank you though for sharing your experience and being honest about where it's at.
genuinely appreciated.
No. Bought it for Xbox and asked for a refund. Incredible that it is getting such high reviews in the state it’s in.
@KaijuKaiser Not even just for PC. On PS5 I'm getting FPS drops, screen tearing, and blurry and fuzzy visuals. It's like I'm trying to play through YouTube compression.
@Vovander its called EAplay now the changed the name from EA access
Absolutely loving it at the moment, I'm playing in 60fps mode as I like that but the 30 fps 4k also runs really really good. This game is just fantastic so far and I've had no bugs what's so ever.
Nah. Don’t like to support EA and Star Wars does nothing for me. No shade to those who are into it though.
I finished the first title and loved it, so Im very keen to play this one. But im still playing burning sky and several other titles that I do want to finish, so I can wait a few weeks before I start this and enjoy it with whatever patches they release.
Tbh, people I trust have suggested the game is running fine on ps5, so Id jump in now if I was looking for a new title..
First boss down, the gameplay is great perfect difficulty balance and great exploration. However, performance is a big issue, the cutscenes stutter, framerate drops are consistent, even on performance mode.
This does bother me, especially when the cutscenes are otherwise great. Unless you are desperate I'd just wait for a patch.
Wheres the option for ,yes I would be playing it but the hdr is fuc*ed,only works if you turn it off or mess about with the ps5 settings and turn hdr up full ,I ain't doing that for one game ,they need to sort this crap out, ridiculous
@Titntin hdr is knackered ,and I dont mean the blacks are off ,I mean it breaks the games visuals
I'm loving it. Loved Fallen Order so this was a no brainier. Got it for Series X as I got my EA Play discount. Combined with some discounted Xbox Store credit it cost me £55. Playing in performance mode and any bugs, slowdown and other issues seem to go over my head and I'm 4 hours in. Great so far.
I will buy it when it is heavily discounted and running smoothly. Not paying full price for a game that runs like garbage and hopefully many others will do so too and show EA that releasing poorly optimised games will not be tolerated.
I doubt it will accomplish much but I am an optimist at heart.
Hi there fellow gamers;
Played and Platinum Jedi Fallen Order on my PS5 and I´m currently playing and enjoying Jedi Survivor on my PS5 as well with the intention to get the Platinum .
To bad there are some performance issues, especially in the more open areas of the game. Games should be way more optimized at launch. Still going to play it though.
Cheers, stay safe everyone and happy gaming to us all
@tallythwack Thanks for the heads up!
I hope they've fixed it by the time I jump in...
@DB10 Fair enough. Game on.
Eh fug I said I was playin thru the wrong game
Finally sorted the hdr ,its a problem with the hdr settings within the ps5 itself maybe they need to tweet this ,as a massive star wars nerd (i have hot toys and lightsabers) its f*ckin amazing ,the music is especially brilliant more like the films than fallen order ,how come there's no scrolling credits at the begining though with the theme music ,I wouldve loved that ,with a recap.
Not yet, but I want to play it. Waiting for Best Buy to deliver my copy in the mail.
Also I did beat Fallen Order's story, but I haven't platinumed it yet.
My experience on my PC was it could have been better butb was not distracting me from enjoying the game .
I will start playing it this coming week, been busy replaying Silent Hill 2 and Pikmin 2. The plan was to beat it before Survivor releases but it seems I have failed (I did beat Pikmin 2 tho)...
Not enjoying the level design sadly. That and the download required. Switch games have a banner for Fortnite and other situations of download codes and whatnot but EA here and Activision with Spyro reignited had to do this. Why. Too lazy for two disks EA. Not good enough compression Respawn. Sigh it's just sad. I know disks are licenses these days but why just why. Why have 100GB Ultra Blu ray and use it up so quickly. I swear it's deliberate for the used market.
The rock wall textures that you can run on, to the sliding with your lightsaber down things are confusing I can't tell the difference while Tomb Raider and Uncharted or other action adventure games or platformers never had this issue of telegraphing what something is. You have white and yellow. You have something more distinct of what is a geabbale wall and what is not or like platformersake everything geabbale I'd that's the case and better structure collision to walls you can't grab onto intentionally. I just find they blend in too much in the environment. Even zip lines or metal machinery I get confused by if I can walking or climbing on them. Some L2 grapples are there others don't. Not all need it but some surfaces and textures I can't tell what you can or can't interact with. Even Dante's Inferno being old God of War style it's in my mind to climb walls and not the rock walls the more cracked and ones with souls in them it's better defined for what I can climbing on. Jedi Survivor wants it to blend in with the wall and I can't tell. It feels like it wants to be realistic and I find it distrithen helpful for me to tell walls and cliffs apart.
No animation or mechanic to use the lightsaber in walls to climb just jumping at the wall looks stupid and like it's missing something. Lara jumping up one bit of a wall was fine Cal doing it up 2+ parts of a wall and flipping on the spot is hilarious and like something is missing.
Story is good but not enough reason to convince me to play like gameplay does or the bad balance of combat and platforming and puzzles. Titanfall 2 (also done by Respawn and they are Infinity Ward vets so they know shooters) balanced titan, pilot, puzzle and platforming but I don't see Jedi Survivor doing that as much it just doesn't feel right to me. I didn't get it much with Jedi Fallen Order either with I think too much combat.
The cosmetics aren't compelling to spend hours getting their worthless so why would I waste my time getting them they don't add anything. If it was for skill points, concept art or lightsaber pieces with stats, more to stance stats or other progression sure but it isn't. I don't care about any of it the scanning lore, the cosmetics I don't care it doesyhold value to me the way something with more depth and value to the game's other systems then a dead end use case of reading and character looks. Metroidvanias have health, or ability upgrades. Why no stim upgrades or stamina upgrades or such not all in t he skill tree as the only reason. It's why I didn't care for the shop in Song of the Deep Insomniac's it not only stuck out but made it clear it's a AAA studio making it. I can't say for all Indie Metroidvanias they maybe have shops too for certain things but I assume like save points for healing or healing items or mana/magic or whatever ability bar items maybe cosmetics or something but as they go for old design with a spin because they know those games they are inspired by inside and out it made Song of the Deep stick out immediately as AAA design still appearing then properly structure around others.
The skill points are fine but I don't feel like it really makes me care enough to put points in. Gardening seems pointless and adds nothing other then some Dev that's a gardener (same way seeing mochi was the reason for Bayonetta Origins mechanic annoyed me so much when I already solved the problem with my brain based on how a game mechanic should work and other games grrrrrrrrrrrrr I hate how some Devs say dumb things for inspiration when it's just look at it, does it make sense how the player controls yes not some food like mochi for two character mechanic) which I mean Pikmin was a better way of that inspiration than a gardening mechanic with no purpose it doesn't tie into the rest of the game's mechanics at least as far as I can tell so why is it here.
Game design 101 it has to have a purpose or why elsewhere implement it, cut it from the game if it is unfinished or adds nothing but nope not here apparently.
I just find the game frustrating more than other action adventure games with better cues that's all. Even the learning in a safe space seems to not be here it feels like whenever the Devs feel like ramping it up. They teach you some things but don't if a platform swings out. It can't be for only abilities. I know Nintendo games are for kids and played by adults (as well as they go oh this level is falling platforms, this is spikes, or this and that basic) but even I found some elements in Jedi Survivor a bit odd with just not having it being a you learn this just throwing a challenge at the player I don't like that at all for an approach to level design.
It is not a terrible game I just had odd moments with it.
