The latest entry in Ubisoft's first-person chaos simulation series is out now on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. Far Cry 6 has released to mostly positive critic reviews, and it's already proving popular on content-sharing sites like YouTube and Twitch. It's reasonably safe to assume that the French publisher has another hit on its hands, despite the usual criticisms of its open world formula.
But as always, we want to know if you're getting in on the action. Have you snagged a copy of Far Cry 6? Vote in our polls, and then lock and load in the comments section below.

Yup, and it's exactly what I wanted.
So great to be back in a Far Cry game.
Yes it’s the same old thing, GREAT
Trailer looked kinda cool but I'm disappointed Ubisoft hasn't addressed making political games and actually leaning into them more. Also, i don't need another check list map game.
I've played enough Far Cry games to know I don't want Far Cry 6.
I'm waiting to see how the rooster stars in the game. Not enough rooster, not enough reason to buy.
I know what I am getting into with a Farcry game and this is just what I want, some good old fashioned fun, fun, fun!
I’ve tried a couple Far Cries in the past and didn’t really like them. Apparently they’re all pretty much the same so I’ll pass.
I've played Far Cry 1 - 3 and Blood Dragon.Lost my interest after that.
No. Did you or do you get your games free for review? Honest question 😊
Yep. Had the Ultimate Edition for PS5 preordered the moment it was available.
Really enjoying it so far. Only about 5 hours in though.
Plan on getting it this week. I've played most of 5 and some of 4. Looking forward to this one though.
I got it ready and waiting for when I'm done with Lost Judgment. Looking forward to it!
Would have been interesting to see the comparative stats.
of those who said (a) the following voted for ,1,2,3,4 etc.
I'd play it if it was £25, but I'm not paying full price for this. Unfortunately the game is too similar to to previous entries, Ubisoft are known for zero progression in games, same tried and tested forumas.
Got it for 'free' on PC with the Ryzen CPU that I bought last year.
Will probably play it for a few hours when I'm done with Metroid Dread
Yep pre-ordered it earlier this week. From what i've played its been great fun and it fixes the mistakes FC5 made.
If I have to click ‘no but I plan on buying it’ on one more of these articles 🤣🤣
Haven't bought it yet but will do in the future. Also played Far Cry 3,4 and 5 before and enjoyed everyone of them (even 5 which many disliked)
Far cry 3 was hands down the worst example of game design I’ve ever seen, turned me off the whole series.
No, might buy it next year I'm done with games I'd rather play before that are out now or just soon.
Yeah, its better than 4 and 5 for me and it is huge!
I know it is probably a super weird reason not to want to play a game - but the whole scrounge for equipment to build make-shift weapons... is just a big turn off for me. I'm not exactly sure why. I think it is like - there is usually so much to do in these games, that I just want my weapons to be my weapons and that be the end of it.
FYI - Played 3, 4, 5, and primal
I honestly don't understand who buys these games or most any Ubisoft game nowadays. Their games are so generic and boring. They do the same games or sequels every year or two.
@Ken_Kaniff I'm a completionist. So the formula of marking things off the map and checking all the boxes is kinda comforting. It is like a Zen garden kinda thing. Less about fun and more about that sense of "easy" "low-risk" accomplishment.
I really loved the first few - the one where you're sick with malaria for the whole game was one of the most interesting in the series. The early ones were ambitious and unusual, until they established the formula that the rest are just repeating. Still liked them.
I skipped the last one. Twisting religion into a cult so you can go shoot all the religious people just didn't feel like a good take to me. Tried it on a free weekend, and it had a fun opening, but I was having too much trouble getting over the cultist taking things I believe in as good things and twisting them into evil - I'd rather games stay out of religion, personally, unless they make it super-fictional. By comparison, I had no real problem with Hades.
I’m still too burned out on Far Cry 4 to play Far Cry 5, let alone Far Cry 6.
@Juvenlast Oh I am as well. Im a huge trophy hunter. I just don't see the appeal of these games or most Ubisoft games with the endless choices of games we have nowadays. To each his own i guess. 🤷♂️
Ubisoft is just too profit driven to innovate or even update their engines and for that I cannot justify paying full price during its release window. Their games are just not worth full price using late ps3/early ps4 game engines that too this day are terribly optomized.
The nail in the coffin for me is the announcement of these live service transitions of their franchises going forward. So sad.
Far cry 5 still, to this day does not run adequately on the PS5 and freezes all the time. Ubisoft has done nothing to address thousands that made them aware of it and yet continues to sell it as if it does. If anything Ubisoft owes myself and the many others our money back on that garbage.
I was genuinely shocked at how little they did to update this new iteration of far cry for the cross generational release. It's literally a re-skinning, and if we continue to pay for this, and COD, and GTRA, and Red Dead, and Fifa, all of these reskins, and now remasters to rake in the highest profit margin will further become the norm. I get there are those that are ok being duped out of their money, but what it means for gaming going forward is a real bummer.
Where's the option for 'it's going on my birthday list'?
Seriously I was planning on buying the steelbook with season pass but I have so much to play as usual id be tempted to throw what I'm doing aside.Besides,I have Project Zero and Voice Of Cards at the end of the month!
I’ve stopped buying Ubisoft games at launch altogether. They have steep discounts all the time, so I’ll probably pick this up in a year or two with all the DLC for ~$20
Tired of the formula. Unless they come with a setting that really interests me, I like Primal the most.
I hate Ubisoft but sometimes they give me something i like.
@Wazeddie22 Fatal frame maiden of black water
Just found out the physical "english" release get a patch for patching in the english subs and voices.... What a rippoff. ... ☹️
@Amusei Primal was quite fun. I liked part 3 a lot also.
I still need to finish 5. I never pay full price for Far Cry gamed to be honest. I will get it in a year or two when it'd down to $20 or less.
Pre ordered & playing it now. Very fun & loving the gameplay.
Yeah. Day1, and stayed up till midnight to play it 😅 (skipped New Dawn, so been a bit)
Playing with my cousin after work. We are having a blast. FarCry Co-op campaign does not disapoint, tons to do and fun (The short story intro part is amazing!)
I wish I had something like this last year during Pandemic lockdown.
Preordered and enjoying it
I hated 5 but I’m enjoying this one so far
I played every Far Cry except for 2 and Primal. I haven't finished 3, Blood Dragon and 4 though. I loved the first one back in the day. I built a brand new PC primarily for Far Cry, DOOM 3 and Half Life 2 😊
Yeah, bought it on a whim. No regrets, loving it so far and this is my first Far Cry game!
Best one since 3.
See you in the bargain bin in 3 months you lovely hunk of mediocrity.
Got it for free since it came as a bonus when I bought my laptop so gonna start downloading it today, can't wait.
Put it in and it was exactly what I had hoped for. Super crisp graphically, loud explosions and shots, just a beautiful world, cool missions, LOTS of killing etc etc etc. My favourite game so far and a much needed start to the (almost) 2nd year of this current gen and a signifying of the start of it building to the crescendo ending with them releasing the amount of games we’ve been used to on the Ps4 (in the 3rd year+) but at a much higher level. Love the come up 👌
I enjoyed 5 (my first far cry) until the point of respawning enemies. Does this have it?
Being Ubisoft, it'll be 50% off by Christmas.
Edit: I was right, lol. 🤣
It's been a few years since I've played a Far Cry game but I'll probably wait on getting 6.
playing them all apart from 1 and 5 as 5 was far too religious for me
Same old Far Cry. Is that a bad thing? Nope...just good FPS fun.
I hate the jumping and climbing on this one though, seems like a stepback
It’s Ubisoft. It’ll be discounted to 50% in two weeks.
@AgentGuapo Probably in 2 months but yeah it's not usually too long
Few rounds of Cockfighter there 🐓 I’ll be busy tryin to justify that 70 smackeroos. No treasure left unturned!
@Juvenlast what is your favorite of the ones you played?
I bought it and I'm having a blast so far. I'm also stopping often on beaches mesmerised by the beautiful hues of the sunsets.
Best Far Cry I've ever played! So much to do and so much fun content everywhere! Coop is intergrated in different activites almoust around every corner, Iove that. And it looks absolutely insane good on PS5 in 4k 60fps HDR+
Best money I've spent in a very long time!
Thanks to Cyberpunk I'll never pre-order another game.
The ending to the previous FC game put me off the series.
I'm not buying any new releases until I get a PS5.
Favourites were Far Cry 4 and Far Cry Primal, playing as a caveman was the best. I’ll probably get 6 when it is on sale.
I did. These games provide a great distraction from real life.
@ Toypop, how is the ammo system annoying? Is it because specific ammo types are needed for certain enemies with other ammo types being useless, and that multiple ammo types can not be carried at the same time?
A review i watched mentioned specific ammo types and how it could be annoying. Hopefully an annoying ammo system will be fixed in a patch.
Seeing as they're all basically variations of FC3, I'm done paying $60 for these expansion packs. I loved Primal though, it was the only one that felt different; bows and spears instead guns and rocket launchers. It was better than people gave it credit for
I’ll definitively get it for Xbox but I know UBisoft will lower the price of the gold edition by Christmas and I have a big backlog, so I’ll wait until that eventual sale. Whenever I see the gold edition for $60, I’m jumping in.
@Ken_Kaniff 100% agreed.
I don't buy any games at launch other than Naughty Dog games. With that said, I like the Far Cry formula, but only buy and play those that at least try to have some semblance of realism. Due to that Far Cry 2 and 5 are my favourites. Currently, I'm replaying FC5 and having a blast so I'll wait for FC6 to drop in price significantly and then think about buying it.
Yeah bought it straight away. These games are silly fun, they don’t reinvent the wheel or do anything groundbreaking but they are solid.
@RudeAnimat0r I agree. The Cuba backdrop with strong hints/insinuations at recent US far left ideals not only falls flat in reality but also made up video game realities.
I like the setting, was lucky enough to visit Cuba a decade or so ago and it's a beautiful place. I really like giancarlo esposito and I enjoyed bits of 4 but as a sandbox to do fun crazy shizzle in, I think I would rather play mgsv again than a far cry. I just don't dig how homogeneous most ubisoft games are.
I got to much to play still so I will get it probably this time next year I guess + I have played all the past FC games. Best for me was Blood Dragon(well it was not a main FC game. But it just took me to the 80's and was pure silliness and I LOVED that)
DO A BLOOD DRAGON 2!!!!!!!! PLZZZZZZZ!!! UBISOFT!!!
@KundaliniRising333 Couldn't agree more, I share the exact same feelings about these, and the same worries about the future of gaming with the disheartening trend of bloated, open world busy work live service style experiences. Sigh.
I'm definitely getting it, but I'll wait for a sale. Probably 35% or 40% off. I enjoyed FC3, 4, and Primal (didn't like the XP system for FC5 so I dropped that pretty quick). Everything I've read in reviews has me feeling I'll enjoy this.
@Flaming_Kaiser I don't understand why they aren't doing a physical everywhere else.I'd much rather physical but so desperate to play Project Zero I'll buy digital day one. Can't decide Ps4 or Switch though!
@Wazeddie22 Ill gladly pay premium for a english western release i would accept subs.
Funny thing. Ubisoft used their same old formula for open world game and invested a lot in the villain for Far Cry 6, famous actor and all. But even in this aspect it is lacking. If you compare him to villains like Mr. X from Resident Evil 2 and Lady Dimitrescu from Resident Evil Village, these are all far superior and iconic villains.
Yes and I’m enjoying it a lot. Far Cry is such a fun series. I also don’t get the critics complaining that is “more of the same”. The last Far Cry I played was 5 and this doesn’t feel like Far Cry 5 at all.(another game I enjoyed)
I have zero reason to buy FarCry 6 right now. My brother and I still have to beat FarCry 5.
Besides, I fully expect to see the Uber edition of FarCry 6 on sale for 50% off by Black Friday.
I've learned long ago to never buy an Ubisoft game on launch. They go on a deeply discounted sale not long after launch.
I will 100% buy it on sale soon enough though. I enjoy the FarCry series, and it's one of the few co-op experiences my brother and I enjoy playing together.
It’s a unisoft game. It’ll be 20-30 bucks on Black Friday for sure
@vict0RGM
They’ve been trying to recapture the magic of Vaas from 3.
The closest they’ve gotten to a repeat of that was pagan Minh.
Not yet, I'll be waiting for the eventual $20-$30 Complete Edition sale in 2-3 years.
@Dr-M Hard to say really. Didn't like Farcry 3 very much. 4 was good, primal didn't grab me super strong but I platted it. 5 was alright - loved the DLC for 5
