Hogwarts Legacy is here (on PS5, at least — the PS4 version lands in April), and we're already seeing a lot of people say that this is the best Harry Potter game ever made. Not that the bar was especially high, but if you have some nostalgia for the original books or movies, then it's highly likely that this open world adventure will warrant your attention.
We gave the game a 'great' 8/10 in our Hogwarts Legacy PS5 review, concluding: "Almost 26 years after Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone hit bookshelves, video game fans finally have a magical title to be proud of." You can also check out our Hogwarts Legacy guide.
But have you been bitten by the Howarts bug? Let us know if you've nabbed a copy in our poll, and then explain your wizarding ways in the comments section below.

I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and yes I have the game pre-ordered from Best Buy! Planning to pick up my copy tomorrow evening after I get off work.
Looking forward to finally experiencing Legacy, with the advantage of a Day 1 patch hopefully.
Aside from all the discussion around the topic, this game is absolutely fantastic. Even if you aren't familiar with the franchise, you don't really need to know anything about how things work since this takes place so many years before modern HP.
Aside from the movement mechanics, the combat, smooth exploration, and insanely good attention to detail around every corner... I have to give the highest of praise to the quests and side quests in this game. They have you doing very unique stuff like joining an exclusive wizard dueling club hidden from the staff, or getting tasked with investigating a secret dragon fighting ring where you have to sneak in and set them free.
This whole game is rich and full of passion from start to finish. Easy GOTY contender!
This game turned out so much better for me than it looked initially and I am not even a huge fan of the universe. It is just SO good.
@dschons @ItsATM I was just saying to someone earlier, it's so far removed from the HP story that you can just jump in and enjoy it for the game it is.
I have 20 minutes left in work, then I'm off to strut around in my new coat and scarf that I bought in Hogsmeade last night 😎🪄
As far as game worlds go, this is up there with The Witcher 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2. It’s a joy to explore.
I may buy this game when it's dirt cheap, but I am wrestling with indirectly giving Rowling her share of royalties on my purchase.
I'm not a huge HP fan at all. I enjoyed the movies and books enough, but it's my wife who's the big fan and even she has cooled on everything as an adult.
It sounds like a great game.
Just installing mine right now 👍
I would at best say I'm a casual Harry Potter fan but this game is friggin awesome! I have not been able to put it down all week long. The combat is really well done and the world is an absolute joy to explore. Really loving it so far!
Got the digital deluxe edition and I'm about 12 hours into it. I think most of it is totally unremarkable and your bog-standard modern western AAA open-world action RPG, but the combat and exploration are so good that it's carrying me through this.
Definitely getting hogwarts legacy.the combat looks excellent.word up son
Not a doubt in my mind I’d get this day one. Only non VR game I can remember pre ordering in god knows how long. So far, we’ll worth it.
I know nothing about that universe so it didn’t really grab my attention. Glad the games good though
Had the Deluxe version pre-ordered and have been playing since Tuesday. Its a fantastic game and really captures the world perfectly.
The Streisand Effect is in full force with this game from what I've seen.
Mine’s installing, too.
Finished the prologue, and waiting for the install to catch up.
Really impressed by it so far.
Missing the ‘I am waiting for the PS4 version’ option.
But I’m massively looking forward to it.
As far as I’m concerned the game’s not out.
Didn't buy, not interested in this type of game, but glad it's doing well and that people are enjoying it so much.
I call BS on the one percent who claim that they don’t even know what Harry Potter is.
I'm waiting for the PS4 release, and will probably get it as soon as it's available. Glad the game's selling great.
@Bentleyma that's fantastic to know 😄 as I'm not a big fan, but I like to play games made with love and with interesting worlds to explore this is definitely a good thing to hear as that at least ticks some of those 'games I will probably like' boxes
As for the general question, I haven't ordered it yet, but I will buy it soon, and Harry Potter is alright, I grew up around it, but also grew out of it fairly quickly, so I'm not an actual fan now, but I'm happy to play good fantasy games, and this replaced Forspoken for games I'm interested in months ago as Hogwarts looked better with each preview and Forspoken looked worse.
Now I just want to make sure I finish at least the main story of The Witcher 3 again, as I'm loving the next gen update so much, but because of that I'm doing every side quest and contract and it's taking absolutely ages, in such a good way 😁😁
There are more than enough games currently like FE Engage, Octopath Traveler 2, Nintendo shadow dropping Metroid Prime Remastered didn't help either.
Will probably buy it in a sale some day
Literally installing as we speak. Put my daughters to bed at 7:30...they cant actually tell the time yet, so its 7:30 now right?
Then i am going to get my wizard on. Cannot wait!
Bought it for the wife, she's a massive HP fan.
Got it Tuesday, deluxe from Game Collection, £62.
She's so happy with it 👍
Yup! Not for PS5 but still. A little bummed to miss out on DualSense features though. I was hoping they’d implement them for PC too. Oh well.
Yeah, Preorder.
Wife is a bigger fan than I am, but it rubbed off enough to be super excited for the game 😀
A bowl of popcorn, our comfy couch and a trip to Hogwarts are part of my weekend plans
Been playing the deluxe edition and about 20 hours in. Have to say this is probably the best realized world I’ve ever seen in a game. The attention to detail is insane, there’s just so much to see and do.
Hot take: Hogwarts Legacy is better than Horizon Forbidden West.
Political Side Note: This is also the most “inclusive” game I’ve ever played. I’m a fairly hardcore conservative, so I don’t agree with most of the discourse about JKR and the like coming from people on the left. But if you’re one of those people, there is a lot to like here for you. The game doesn’t force you to choose a gender, doesn’t use male/female pronouns anywhere, you can look and sound however you want (you can make what I would consider a female character with a male-sounding voice and vice versa.) For people on my side of the political isle - I don’t feel like I’m being bombarded with ideological stuff at all. I think it hits a good middle-ground where anyone can enjoy it without feeling offended or annoyed.
It’s like a litmus test for fairweather allies. Words are cheap, apparently not playing the game starring an actor institutionalised after abusing his ex-wife and kids and based on the works of a foaming bigot is too much to ask.
I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan, but I have to wait for the PS4 version!
From watching videos and reading about the game (I do not care about spoilers) it turned out WAY better than I have expected!
This game looks like equivalent of the Batman Arkham Series or Marvel's Spider-Man ... a game done properly with extreme attention for details right from the source material.
I like all the actors but refuse to buy this game and refuse to support J.K in anyway. I feel sorry for the big company that owns the rights with all the hate she pumps out.
It must be sad for all the actors with the creator pumping out so much hate.
My wife's the big Potter fan and according to her it's the greatest.
She's about 8 hours in and hasn't been this into a game for years, despite that she is a gamer and plays all the time.
But no one title has held her attention and had her this excited in years.
But again, she's a huge fan of Potter stuff.
I'm not into the Potter universe at all, but played the first couple hours and even I liked it and I only played mostly tutorial.
Have no idea what's going on, can't make rhyme or reason about what exactly the magic rules are yet of what happens within this universe, but this was clearly made by fans for fans.
I'll catch up fine, but according to my wife the game is stuffed with easter eggs and little details for the fans.
She's a bit nuts for Potter, she has every book, every movie and goes to a Harry Potter convention once a year. So she's likely an above average fan, the crazy lady.
But any fans like that, apparently this is a buy.
@nessisonett Sorry mate, I self-identify as an ally - please respect who I am. That's not too much to ask for, right?
Hogwarts Legacy is a fine-looking game and if it was on PS+ I'd likely be giving it a go right now. EDIT: kek, comment I was quoting was removed.
Regardless of controversies, I've never been taken I'm by the supposed charms of HP and have little interest in this game. A bit tired of open world games, in general, and what I've seen of this hasn't convinced me otherwise!
Will definitely buy it in the future. I still have a lot in my backlog. But as a Harry Potter fan, I'm looking forward to exploring the Wizarding World and starting my own Hogwarts adventure. This is like a dream game for me, and I'm happy it turned out well!
@Zuljaras That's a perfect comparison, saying this game is to Potter as the Arkham and Spider-man games are with details packed in with love to the fan.
Fingers crossed, I hope it runs well on PS4!
@burning_as_souls I am sure that the delay will not be for nothing
No I didn't. I'm not that into the HP universe, tbh. I read the books but only watched a couple of the movies before I'd had my fill.
If I ever get it for "free" through some service I would give it a go though, same as Forspoken actually.
I read all the books, saw all the movies and definitely like Harry Potter, but I just have ZERO interest in this game for some reason.
I have it installing right now. My wife, who is a massive Harry Potter fan, is very excited.
Not a big Harry Potter fan, but the game drew my attention from the the moment I saw it. It is an open world fantasy rpg, exactly my type of game. The game looks gorgeous, the world is very detailed and haven't encountered a single bug yet. I had the game preordered and that war a great decision. Such a great game
@Shepherd_Tallon I agree. Obviously, I know some of the lore or easter eggs in this game but I'm totally not in for that and they do not really elevate the experience for me. It's just a beautiful fantasy RPG in itself, right up my alley.
Few hours in so far, well worth the purchase.

I take a live and let live attitude in regard to this game, and don’t judge anyone that plays it for whatever reason. We all live out different lives with our own experiences.
But I cannot and will not ever touch this game nor any Harry Potter product. Just can’t personally do it.
Yeah, I ended up pre-ordering the Digital Deluxe edition a few weeks ago. And I am pretty happy with it since the game is really good.
I just can't commit myself to open world games anymore. I'm too much of a completionist. Skipping.
Not yet can't afford it atm but will be getting as soon as I have some money 👍🏻
Never have been a fan of the franchise.
But the game does look good. I probably won’t get it anytime soon, but if it’s a 20 dollar buy next year I might it pick it up.
Too many other games to play right now.
I'm sure it'll be a good time but I'm also sure as hell not spending full price on anything, never mind preordering.
Of course. Everyone should give it a try IMO. It's quite an amazing accomplishment for the developer.
@Luna-Harmony
I’ve always separated creators from their works.
I’m a huge fan of Roger Waters’ music for example. Have been since I was a kid.
But the dude is a nutcase who is borderline anti-Semitic and has said some absolutely awful things about my country (United States). I still enjoy his music though. That’s just how I’ve always had to balance everything.
I’m a big second amendment supporter for example. A lot of my favorite actors are extremely anti-firearm ownership. I separate their acting ability from their political and social views.
But I do understand your viewpoint. And it’s a completely fair one. If anything I admire it. I just can’t do the same.
Going to be in the top seller list this year. Wouldn't be surprised to see them try to develop a live service title in the harry Potter universe next.
@The_Moose dont forget they are probably replying to you using parts from China, that treat certain people far far worse than some ill informed comments, not to mention supporting a Football team involved with sectarian issues.
but heyho only certain things matter.
judging by the poll its sold well, will be highest selling Game of the year. and it will win 0 rewards at end of year.
@nessisonett the few colleagues I have who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community were all really excited about this game to the point it piqued my interest enough to add to the wishlist, despite not being a fan of the universe.
Do you not have any similar colleagues at work?
@The_Moose
Great post.
That’s why I’ve always separated the political and social views of creators from their creations.
If I held myself to such a strict standard I probably wouldn’t be able to enjoy any films, music, or games.
@nessisonett
Asking for ideological purity from every ally is a flawed strategy. It never works.
Yes had it pre ordered, its installing now, but not going to play it till my hogwarts controller arrives. Joke soon as its installed im playing this all night lol.
It needs to be said that shaming others for their interests is akin to schoolyard bullying. Anyway, I’m looking forward to playing this and will hopefully pick it up today. The Harry Potter universe is rich and filled with wonder.
I got the Digital Deluxe edition and it is easily in my top 5 games of all time. Really enjoying the world. Good to see the developers hard work is paying off in sales and enjoyment for fans. I managed to snag the limited edition dualsense today, and I am also looking forward to Like a Dragon Ishin next week, so Febuary has not been too bad so far!
Bought it twice. Once for me, once for my sister in law - cant wait to get stuck in
Really hope this sells well enough to silence the noise and they feel confident enough to make another game in this world.
Will buy it once its out on PS4.
My copy arrived today along with Sonic Frontiers but I still have to finish Dead Space. Too many games!
@MatthewJP yeah, the people screaming ‘boycott’ are at the extreme end of the spectrum. Most people, even members of the LGBT+ community, don’t give a damn.
I'd go ahead and buy this now, except I'd like to get it on PS5 rather than for my PC.
But I don't particularly want to pay £10 more for the privilege
I realise I could get it on ShopTo or something and get it cheaper -but then, I could also get a Steam key from Green Man or somewhere similar, and get it for even less still.
I'll probably just wait until there's a decent sale on, my backlog is already big enough
@nessisonett not simon pegg?
@Loftimus Nah, Greg Ellis. He’s a ‘men’s rights activist’ now and yet JK was cozying up to him.
Mens rights? We've already got them all haven't we?
I've put in a fair few hours now and it's definitely feels like they really took breath of the wild's design philosophy to heart. I've never watched HP, never read the books so have no emotional attachment going in but so far this game has blown me away.
@Loftimus speak to a man who has been through a child custody battle and say that again lol

@MrMeeeseeeks I’m a G and it bugs me to no end that we’re all bundled into the same group and there’s an expectation that we should all stick up for each other no matter what. It’s not like that IRL at all. I love JKR and HP and I’ll buy whatever I want with not a single F given. The game is fantastic btw.
@StandardCabrera careful who you impregnate is the moral of that story. I have learnt that lesson myself... On the streets!
@Onkydonk I was a bit confused that people were still replying to that comment as I couldn't see it, so I assumed that nessisonett had deleted it, but I think he might have blocked ("ignore" button) me!
I mean I can't say I 100% blame him, I just didn't realise that if someone did that, it hid their comments from you as well (especially given that all one has to do is sign out in order to see them.. seems a bit pointless)
Day 1 buy after seeing the great reviews
@Grimwood Adults with money 😜
@danlk1ng They has blocked me too. Their comment section must only show their own comments lol
I'm not fighting in a war, or planning to do so, and as such I am nobody's "ally" I'm afraid.
As for the game, idk. I was a casual Potter fan as a kid, but I don't really care enough about it right now. Maybe when it's half off or something.
@Loftimus haha! Sometimes you have to find out two or three times over, just to be sure. The streets taught me differently lol
I picked up the game. And man oh man oh man… If only my younger self could play and see this game. I was a big Harry Potter kid. Owned a truck ton of the Lego sets, own all the movies, books, went to see every film in theaters, my first video games for my PS1, Gameboy advance, and PS2 was Harry Potter games…. Etc. the list goes on.
I’m sorry to anyone that I may have pissed off buying this game, but the Wizarding World goes deeper than just a franchise I enjoyed as a kid. Playing this game brings back so many memories.
I'll grab it when it's on sale someday. Or maybe on the Switch if that version turns out well (as well as it can, anyway). It's not a priority, though, and I'm not a huge HP fan.
Pre-ordered the deluxe edition.
Its nice to give royalties to someone like JK Rowling even though i dont rrally like harry porter movies at first. Maybe because i watch it as teens.
After playing the game. What an amazing game. Now i bought and rewatching all Harry Porter movies. Its a good movies.
Go JK Rowling.

I never read the books and never watched the movies, I know I'm an exception. The game does look amazing though and my daughter really loves the world so I'd be buying for her.
I'd have probably bought this for myself at some point anyway even if she didn't like the world because I appreciate a high quality single player game. I never got into multiplayer.
Can someone simply explain, what controversy is behind this game? I still don't understand what is wrong?
Anyway, when price drops, I'll give it a try.
I've watched all the movies but I wouldn't really call myself a fan. That said a more interactive experience in that world has always been something that interested me so I'm glad this has apparently turned out to be the closest thing to feeling like you're inside the hp world. Looking forward to trying it out later tonight
I'm in the middle of Witcher 3 again but planning to buy the PS5 version for the family once summer starts. My eldest is the biggest HP fan in the family but we all enjoy it.
As for the controversy... I'll ask this. Who's the bigger bigots? The group of people trying to destroy women or those trying to protect women? That's all I'll say on the matter.
I was a huge Potter fan back when I worked for W H Smiths, doing those book launches was amazing... but JKR, man, why couldn't she just not be a massive bell end? Her advocating and preaching hate for people who just want the right to exist soured everything she's ever touched.
@djlard the ridiculously oversimplified version is this - Trans people exist, Rowling REALLY doesn't like that and thinks they are a danger to women and all Trans people want is the right to exist and receive medical care appropriate to their needs.

No I didn't. Not because of any stance in relation to J.K or anything like that. But because im not into the franchise. Having said that, the game does look interesting to me more so gameplay wise but it's way far down the list of games I need to get to so im not going to buy it right now. I've already bought so many games that I haven't even played yet.
I never really got the Potter hype, grateful to Rowling for getting generations of kids to read though. I have seen all the movies but wasn't that impressed, Especially the way it ended. Will probably give the game a miss!
If Malazan ever gets a game though, I'll be first In line to play it.
in all honesty even if it wasn't for the terfy elephant in the room i wouldn't be getting it because the game just doesn't look very good in my eyes. so that gave me two reasons not to get this, got dead space instead
Well i've been playing this from around 6pm and its an amazing game. Push square said it dosnt look like like the ps5's best game in terms of graphics but how wrong they are. The detail is superb and i just love those moving pictures. Its a shame that you can not change the dialogue because the only thing apart from the daft cursor in the menus thats really annoying is the way the characters refer to your avatar as "they". So one point for each faux pas deducted for a solid 8/10 and very,very easily my GOTY and its going to take something truely spectacular to beat this classic..well worth the 2+ years i've been waiting..
@MightyDemon82 you know what? I echo your sentiments about the movies and i never read the books (lord of the rings man myself) but from a non potter fan i can honestly say this is a great game. Maybe wait for a sale bud 👍
@Mintie the more comments directed towards rowling that contain the same kind of venomous spiel that she is being accused of only makes me feel more sorry for her. I dont think she is transphobic but i do think that she could have maybe voiced her oppinions differently but its becoming more apparant that nobody can say anything negative about trans people or the rest of the lgbtqxyz+ without fear of reprisal. There are posters in the review comments that are there just to peddle hate speach towards rowling and the rest of the braying mob are infesting this section slowley. I have friends and family members that are transgender or gay etc and i love and respect them and they really like this game and dont hate anybody for their views. I wont use pronouns to finish my rant but i'll use some adjectives to describe them instead because to me the whole of the lgbtq+ movement that can live and accept themselves and us are beautiful,intelligent and emotionally generous humans. The rest of you speaking this way are nothing more than toxic....the very thing you despise..
Bought it for my 15yo son who read all the books many times over. I also had a conversation with him beforehand about the discourse surrounding the game, so that he's informed at least and can form his own opinions. He'll platinum it over next week's school half term holiday I'm sure, then I'll give it a go despite having no attachment to the franchise myself.
@Northern_munkey totally agree ,amazing game ,solid 9 from me ,the fact you can't pause during cut scenes and there's no photo mode is the only downside ,and you're right I dont know what push square are on about regarding the games looks ,the art design is fantastic, so much love gone into the game ,so much detail ,and yeah those paintings are brilliant, the ray tracing is probably the best I've seen in a ps5 game, it actually does something ,with regards to Rowling shes a huge feminist ,what did people expect ,and has done so much for women and children with various charities ,maybe she should have worded her feelings better ,she's a high profile character and really shouldve known better ,its not like myself down the pub with my mates.
@carrotcakehater you've done yourself a disservice my friend, even if you hate Harry potter ,the game is fantastic ,a proper game for a change ,high production values ,brilliant graphics ,loads of content and not a microtransaction to be seen.
@Yinx Bummer to skip an amazing game just because of completionist stuff. I'd definitely consider myself one, but in this game its only an extra 15-20 hours to complete. This is a game that you want to see everything so it's literally a net positive lol

@Darylb88 aren't games great 😁
I'm kind of enjoying it more than......ragnarok...sorry ,sorry ,I know,I know, but iam....and I'm ashamed 😂
@Lord_Beerus_87 great when you can get the kids down so early. More gaming time. Worry free days. Be different times when your daughters are followed into the toilets with a bunch of (trans) men. Enjoy while you can. My daughter a big HP fan, I'm a big JK fan, on safe spaces for the ladies
@tallythwack Ahhh, that discrimination of free speech... Well, I precisely don't know who his Hitler here, but that is another story...
@Shstrick I’m a “leftie” and trust me when I say the discourse is not from the left, JKR is a leftie too. Almost all the people she has been meeting with and are together are “lefties”…… it might be awkward for some but this isn’t a left vs right. The women’s rights movement are definitely on the left.
Not a HP fan but bought this the moment the good reviews came in and, hands down, it’s my GOTY. Stunning world, perfectly realized.
@Stocksy I’ve definitely seen a lot of harsh comments towards JKR from the left, including calling for her death, which is not okay. Not that everyone on the left is like that - no group is a monolith. I should also say I’ve seen a lot of spite and nastiness from people on the right and I don’t agree with that nonsense either. I Probably should’ve thought that through and included it in my original comment. My point was just that the game itself seems like a good middle ground and something that can bring people together.
I know there are a lot of people that don’t want to buy the game since JKR is probably making royalties, but what is she really getting per sale? $0.10? She’s also already a billionaire, so realistically she won’t even notice the royalties she’s getting or not getting. With that said, I respect people standing for their principles.
Side note: I’ve always thought of the term “lefty” as derogatory. Am I wrong about that? I try not to offend people if I can help it.
Had it pre-ordered. Loving it so far, the world looks amazing and there is so much to see and discover.
@danlk1ng Yup. I'm blocked too now. Still having fun in Hogwarts though
@djlard JKR was concerned that the rights of biological women were being eroded and disregarded. She doesn’t believe pre-op trans women should be allowed to use women’s toilets or changing rooms etc. (and more recently women’s prisons) because the safety of biological women should never be put at risk. JKR spoke out about changing terminology such as ‘people who menstruate’ and ‘people who give birth’ and publicly supported biological woman who lost their jobs for speaking out and raising their concerns. Trans activists saw this as an attack on trans rights and have been on Defcon 1 ever since. And because JKR will receive royalties from this game, they have called for a boycott.
@djlard
The controversy is all about whether the NPCs should be programmed to put milk in their tea or not. I don’t really understand it, but I’m not British. Apparently people have strong feelings about that I guess.
Really not a big fan at all of JK Rowling's work. A lot of it I think is really stupid, and less interesting than the magic in things like Dungeons and Dragons. I've seen all the films with my wife; she loves Harry Potter, and I love her and as such take interest in her interests. That being said, I was pretty excited for this game and it delivered. It's just a great game. It's a shame it's being used as a battleground for the next culture war. I think that's very stupid.
Looking forward to playing more and more of this when I'm not completely engrossed by Honkai Star Rail (Got into the beta, and it might be better than Genshin tbh). Happy gaming everyone.
I bought it and loved it. Its a delight to play and explore in this world, the game is technically competent and properly finished in a way that seems sadly rare now.
Its unfortunate that those who would attack it and me for buying it have far more hate and intollerence in their harts than those they attack. Nearly 40 years ago, when I was young adult, one of my best friends transitioned long before this movement started and it was more accepted. I spent many years of my life champining acceptance and equality. That movement has become hateful, against women, against lesbians, and against anyone who doesnt let them do anything they like. I bitterly regret my earlier championing, its quite clear now I was on the wrong side.
Its also a shame that such issues cannot be rationaly discussed without conversation turning to bile, and I do appreciate the difficulties outlets such as push have in carefully treading the line to avoid hate speech and avoid becoming the next target of the movements hate train. What times we live in...
@Wheatly They’re scared that if they don’t speak out against her, they’ll be accused of being anti-trans and treated the same way. They’ll suddenly find themselves getting fewer roles, fewer awards, less promotion and being uninvited from special events and awards ceremonies. Fear is a powerful weapon and it takes an extremely strong person to stand up to it.
It does feel like there’s an element of sexism in the backlash against JKR too. Successful, self-made woman speaking up for her beliefs being told to shut up, sit down and get in line. It’s nothing women haven’t had to put up with for thousands of years anyway I guess.
I also feel bad for the people who worked on this game. All the odds were against them but they were able to create something genuinely good that’s been received positively by critics and fans alike. And yet the ‘controversy’ surrounding JKR is always there in the background putting a dampener on everything. It must be annoying for them.
@ItsBritneyB_tch I wouldn't feel too bad for the devs - Hogwarts Legacy is currently sitting at #9 on the chart of steam games with the highest all-time concurrent players (690,000 people were playing this game on Steam at the same time - and as I say, that's the 9th highest number out of all of the games on Steam).
Regardless of the controversy, it's selling like hot cakes - and the hardcore anti-JKR brigade aren't exactly making themselves any friends, what with bullying streamers to the point of crying and the like.
@Titntin well said. Hogwarts is an astounding game and thank god it lived up to the hype..locking myself in my man cave (can i still call it that?) For the weekend while my wife is busy on her latest art project for a prestigeous competition she has entered..enjoy hogwarts my friend..
@Shstrick some might get offended by leftie. I couldn’t care less. I believe in a fairer society for all. Better education, better health care, better policing. Safer streets. Less wars. better standard of living for all. Fairer taxation. Everyone having the same rights, security and safety. People can label me what they want. Anyone that doesn’t want all that I’ve listed above is the crazy one not me.
So I’ll be a leftie movie snowflake. I’m not offended by anything or anyone and don’t want anyone cancelled. I want better education so we don’t have the hatred and bile we see in society and people understand why some options are just counterproductive.
But I’m just me.
If everyone had my views and lived they way I did the world would be a safer place for all, so that’s enough for me.
It's the kind of thing I'd try if I got it 'for free' via a subscription, but I have no interest in paying for it. I liked the HP books as a kid, but that flame went out long ago.
It's a great game but it's not a RPG. Which is perfectly fine, is a cool semi-open world action game with a focus on exploration and the best inside location of gaming history. Just don't know why we keep calling these games RPG.
@ItsBritneyB_tch incredibly well said 👍
And here I was, waiting on a sale. All this nonsense made it a Day Two purchase for me. And the "gaming" sites boycotting the game? Shutter them.
@nessisonett who is really asking?
@MrMeeeseeeks Interesting... looks like some activists are too active and should keep calmer...
@djlard @Mintie
That's not a fair summary and you are stating opinions as fact. JKR was someone who suffered abuse and want to protect females from males and ensure no matter what safe spaces for women and girls are protected.
@OrtadragoonX
I love Radio K.A.O.S. it's such a shame Roger has gone Piers Corbyn on us . Billy would be sad too.
@RudeAnimat0r
Honestly, it does look great and has rave reviews from some friends (who somehow did not know about the stuff with Rowling until I said something). If I really lean heavily on not supporting Rowling, I may just buy the game used. As it is, I have a huge steam library backlog I need to go through anyway.
@Sakisa Well, if it is just about supporting Rowling, then you could do what I am planning on doing and buying a used copy. Your money is going to someone else, not the devs or to any royalty fees Rowling might be collecting.
If its about playing anything with her name tied to it in anyway, that is fair and understand that position
@djlard Basically the writer behind Harry Potter came out as a pretty HUGE transphobe. Saying trans women can never be women, that trans people in women's bathrooms and spaces is inherently dangerous, actively lobbying against pro-trans bills, claims gender dysphoria is contagious, etc. Basically every anti-trans statement you can make, she's made it.
@guardianofroin That is perfect. Going to support her.
