One of Sony's heaviest hitters of 2022 is here — and it's a remake of what many consider to be one of the greatest PlayStation titles of all time. However, Sony's decision to sell The Last of Us: Part I at full price has has already resulted in a tidal wave of criticism. As we wrote in our review, this is still a phenomenal video game — but it's just impossible to ignore the price tag when there's no upgrade path available, and you can buy The Last of Us: Remastered for a fraction of the cost.
But hey, there are improvements here. Not just in the ground-up visual overhaul that the title has received, but in the way it controls. This is the best version of a landmark release, and that will no doubt be enough to convince a lot of people to dive straight in.
And so we have to ask: did you buy The Last of Us: Part I? Or perhaps you're waiting for a drop in price later down the line? Whatever your plans, vote in our polls, and then explain yourself in the comments section below.

Not Yet, i love the series. But wait for a price drop. As much as I like to support Sony, and that has been a lot of euros. I'm still waiting for a price drop.
That would be a NOPE.
No reason to play it a third time on a third system. The story is the same. Seems pointless to me
How strange to vote I have zero interest yet played through it already.
Nope... Already played it - know how it ends.
Make a TLOU2 Abby standalone like Miles Morales and they have a sale at any price.
Tell me what happens after the boat.
@SystemAddict "How strange to vote I have zero interest yet played through it already."
How so? The first question says Part I whilst the second does not, hence referring to the originals. It is possible to like the Last of Us and not care about the £70 remaster.
Played the original on ps3 eventually. Probably won’t get this as, honestly, the stealth elements bore me.
Not yet im waiting for the Firefly edition news in Europe.
Had mine preordered from a real physical store the one where you can physically walk through the doors in real life in person. And after picking it up I went to mcdonald's for a big mac and fries with a sexy strawberry milkshake and an extra 99p chicken mayo burger oh my it was so lovely and tasty. I didn't care who was looking at me while I was demolishing it
I still think remaking this game at this point is silly, but I'm glad people are enjoying it again and new players are getting the best possible version to start out on. Maybe I'll grab this in 3 or 5 years when I've had some distance with the game. I only played Remastered last year after playing the original at launch. I also was replaying Part Two so I'm a bit LoU'd out until the live service Factions game.
I had the intention of buying it- finishing it and then reselling within a week. I went to my local Tesco and they had hardly any games- and then I went into my town centre and really struggled to find anywhere selling games! I did find a Game but I’m not prepared to pay £69.99.
I wonder if the sales for this might be lacking and if so I wonder if there will be a price decrease. So I’d love to replay it but waiting for a price drop.
Waiting on my doormat for me when I get home from work 😁
Maybe if I see it in sale for under 10€ like TLoU2 quite often is I might grab it but otherwise I don't really see the point to buy this instead of playing the Remaster, especially since I don't care that much about graphics anyway
Bought it and I'm loving my time with it. Naysayers will only play it when it hits the bargain bin or PS Plus Extra. I expect the narrative about this remake will change then. Believe me when I say it that no YT video or article will give you an accurate description of the enhancements to graphical and audio quality in comparison with the Remastered version.
I didn’t buy it yet, but was planning on getting it today until they announced the games for PS+ And Extra.
Interestingly I decided to play the ps5 version on one screen directly against the ps4 remaster by my daughter on another screen. I know you are YouTube clips like this all the time, but doing it yourself is fascinating.
Played the performance mode.
1. Graphics definitely improved
2. Animations and cut scenes better.
3. Same dialogue as expected but disappointed same old controls and style of play - it just seems so much older compared to new games and the LOU2. Disappointed with that.
4. Sound and haptics are great.
Is it worth 69.99? No. I managed on Turkey for 32 so seems better but it is still held back by the old game too much for me to say it’s worth the 69.99
I'm not opposed to playing it again someday, but I never felt the need to revisit it after playing it on the PS3. And for now, I have so many other things to play that Last of Us is not a priority. But I am happy for those who are enjoying it. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
One of my favourite games of all time - I will pick it up when the price eventually falls. I've already played the PS3/PS4 versions.
Maybe on a steep steep discount. Like $10-15 or so...basically if they did a paid upgrade path. 😄
Until then if I get the TLOU itch again Remastered and Part II will do just fine.
I was able to justify buying the remaster when it came out because I wanted to play Factions as well as the 60 fps improvement. Plus there wasn't much else to play on PS4 at the time.
There just isn't enough there to justify a 3rd purchase especially at $70 for me. I glad it's finally out though so hopefully the team at Naughty Dog that worked on this can put their talent towards something new.
Twice! Preordered the digital two weeks ago for the convenience of being able to play it on all my PS5’s in different rooms and scored the Firefly edition restock last nite as I’m a collector and need the physical edition. 🙂
It's one of my favorite games. If a game like this gets a new release, on my new console, I am lucky enough to be able to get it and play it. It's not really an issue for me. Lord knows how many times I've re-bought Zelda games in the past.
I was fortunate to secure a firefly edition at midnight!
I've got Premium, so my backlog is far too large to justify buying a remake.
Hard pass. I have more self respect than allowing myself to get duped into buying the same product again at a higher price point than even the graphical improvements warrant (ps4 level). It does not hold the value to Me, that ND and Sony are trying to sadly Justify with these little developer trailers. They just seem desperate to counter what we already know.
After truly reflecting the story and the dated design and gameplay, there is just nO way I would buy this again rather than just play the first remaster. If it ever hits PS plus I'll probably add it to the backlog
Never played it, but this is the version I'll buy or download when I eventually do. Just not at full price for something I'm unsure of to some extent. Horror isn't really my genre, and I know it's not full blown horror, but it's always been way down the pile of games to play because of this. And I kind of watched someone play it a fair bit anyway so I'm familiar with the story enough to not want to jump right into it at full price as half of what happens I already know :/
Midwinter seems a good time to try it though, along with the TV show. And I'm sure I'll love playing it, because I love narrative driven PlayStation games and it's definitely going to look phenomenal!
Played PS3 and PS4. Unlikely to buy it again not for full price (conditional on me finding it on a $20 sale.)
Yes I’m buying. I’ll buy it when it’s on Black Friday sale!
I'll play it when it inevitably ends up on Extra.
Yep.
Played through the PS3 version multiple times. Same for the PS4 version.
I'll do the same with the PS5 Remake. Can't wait to get home and get stuck in.
I ate ramen last night so today I’m going to buy another pack of ramen but a new flavor and eat again, lol. Shame on them for charging me again.
No category of 'waiting for a sale'.
I'm waiting for a sale.
Not at that price. Not for a third time around.
Waiting for a price drop…and I mean a BIG price drop! Either that or when it eventually comes to PS+ extra/premium
Never beat it on the PS3, never played the PS4 version, never touched the DLC so I'm definitely looking forward to playing, and finishing, the game.
I also never played Part 2 so I'll likely start that afterwards.
Playing through it once on the PS3 was enough to last me a lifetime. I can only see the worthwhile-ness of this release of you’re a Last of Us Superfan or you really want to have 2 equally sized disc cases for the 2 parts next to each other (although you’d have to mix console collections).
Played both PS3 and PS4 versions. I don't have any interest to play the PS5 version
I'm not going to support this becoming Sony's Skyrim. It doesn't need any more releases, you can still play the PS4 remaster on PS5.
@Agramonte I would love to see that story, as well. There'd be a lot of detractors based on people that absolutely hate Abby. But I, personally, hope they double down on exploring her character.
I was able to lock down the Firedly edition last night. I do not play on opening it nor do I plan on reselling it. I’m just going to HODL. When/if this hits PS Premium, I will play it again!
@Suda51ueda "I ate ramen last night so today I’m going to buy another pack of ramen but a new flavor and eat again, lol. Shame on them for charging me again."
awwwe thats cute, but lets make your little analogy more accurate.
I bought and ate a pack of ramen years ago for $1.00. Nearly a decade later they are selling me the same ramen I already ate, now regurgitated and wrapped in different packaging for $3 dollars. When all NEW uneaten ramen of that quality level currently sells for 2 dollars. The ramen company claims this is all new rebuilt ramen, when in fact it's TWICE already eaten ramen just repackaged in fancy new plastic wrap.
Shame on that greedy ramen company for trying to make high revenue margins by selling regurgitated food as if new.
cant help but feel at this point pushsquare just trying to create more arguement with the number of articles about this game
Just to be clear I can play the free remaster on PS5 for ,well, free, or the second remaster on PS5 for £70.
Tough question. Struggling with that one
Great game, love it. Played on PS3, already played the remaster (for free). Quite probably won't pay £70 to play another attempt at a remaster for £70. FGS what were they thinking.
@Suda51ueda Most people aren't mad at being charged again - a few are, but not most.
Most people who complain are upset that a game where significant development costs simply don't exist (because the art direction, script, motion capture, set design, voice acting, and a lot more were already complete) shouldn't cost full price.
It's like paying artisan prices for store-bought ramen. You expect store-bought ramen to be cheap, because it's mass-produced and a lot of the work in making it is done already. If some store wants to charge you what the restaurant down the street charges when they make it from scratch and serve it to you already cooked, then many people will shake their head and move on.
I likely won't buy it unless it's at least 67% off.
More than likely I'll play it if (when) it is included in PS+.
75% said "No" so far. Interesting.
Not yet but i will soon.word up son
So much salt over a video game release. I wish my concerns were so few that I could get bothered over this but man, it really does not make the list. Even if this sets some precedent where all subsequent video game releases are just over-priced remakes I still can't say it really sours the quality of my life. Idk, maybe it's an age thing?
@KundaliniRising333 @RobN IMO we don’t deserve games as good as Naughty Dog makes, I’ll be Druckman’s personal suck man to keep getting games from them.
Played the original PS3 version
Skipped the PS4 remaster version.
I think my brain has had time to forget most of it.
So will probably pick up the PS5 version in a sale.
Nope. I know enough people will that will justify its existence but im not one of them.
Yes, I’m part of the problem. But. It’s one of my top three of all time, so. Sue me.
If they would have released this at 40 dollars everyone would love them. But alas greed is a hell of a drug.
@Dr_Luigi
You need like two or three jobs for that depending on where you live.
Nah, but I might. Tried Part I in the past but I couldn’t get past the incredibly clunky controls. Guess it’s supposed to be clunky to give you a “realistic” experience but for me it was too much.
If I decide to pick it up I’ll go on easy and just push through the story.
I've been around since the PS1 era and have had zero interest in playing either TLOU game since the first released on the PS3. Just not my bag. Even on Plus I'd be extremely unlikely to ever try it.
@Mr_Gamecube that was silly because you could have sold it for a nice profit.
@AgentGuapo Not a problem if it's worth the price for you. Vote with your money - and if you like stuff like this and are willing to pay for it, then there's nothing wrong with that just because not everyone agrees.
As for me, I'll wait for a sale, or the inevitable inclusion on a PS Plus tier. By Christmas 2023 this will be bundled with the LoU2 for PS5 (you know it's coming) for $100+, and by Christmas 2025 the bundle of the two will be $20. I can wait for 2025.
Nope. I've played it three times already. Paying 70 quid to play it again with a slight graphical upgrade is just a waste of muneh, in my opinion.
Well i had it pre ordrerd, was dispatched wednesday but still not arrived 😔, sent acomplaint so hopefully get somd compo for the tears lol.
I've been wanting to play it for the first time but now I'll have to wait till Part 1 gets to a low enough price because it wouldn't make sense to play the older version for the first time now, if I'd already played the older version I would have skipped Part 1 unless it had an insane discount
Yeah, I bought it when it first came out nine years ago.
@kcarnes9051 Yeah, Out of all the branches (Letter... walking past the farm window... and boat scene) the Abby+Lev is the most interesting and with potential for me.
Some will complain regardless - tons of times it has more to do with the logo on the box than the actual game. Best would be for them to ignore that.
I pre-ordered my copy, just waiting on UPS to deliver it. Even though I have the PS3 & PS4 versions, I couldn't resist getting the best console version available for one of my all time favorite games. Can't wait to play it tonight!
Nope, certainly not at £70, no thanks 🤨
Played/own both previous versions.
Tbh, in the beginning I was under the impression they would remake it and have all the TLOUP2 gameplay mechanics copied & implemented to Part 1 and give oldtimers a new gaming experience although already knowing the story (but with a few surprises along the way, like, something I was not expecting).
Oh well ...
Bought PS3 and PS4 versions at launch. One of my favourite games of that generation. But I can't bring myself to be paying the current price, especially after getting the last two versions for around the £30-£35 range. Will pick it up someday when it reaches my biting point
@SteveZ85 what is the point in that? I really don't understand when collectors do this, I hope you are not going to put it in a glass cabinet and
mummify it 🙄
Yeah when it comes to pc or is heavily dicounted.
Never played it and already have the remastered version, so no reason to buy the remake, especially for a full 80 euros. I'll buy it when it's under 30 euros or something
It was £65 on Amazon and I had £30 worth of vouchers so I bought it for £35.
I haven’t played it since the PS3 days so I’m looking forward to it after all this time and can’t really complain for that price.
No, and I NEVER WILL!
'Cue thunder'
MWAHAHAHAHAAAH!
@TommyNL Same here, waiting for a price drop (50% at least), or to be included in PS Extra, of course ; )
@Beerheadgamer82 Everything's better when someone is watching.
Where is the waiting for the PC release option?
I still have the one that came with the PS5 on my backlog list, and from what I've read that will be just fine.
Nope, but I won’t rule out ever playing it again. Gameplay wasn’t so great in the original, so I’d like to see if that was rectified, but I’m not paying $70 to see, know what I mean? It’s a good story either way and I know how it goes.
Shell wait until Xmas time where its 50% off and at the price it should be.
@Pete_Stooge I thought it was pretty common knowledge that it's a PS5 game.
Played it on PS3, PS4 and got both platinums. Absolutely love the game. My main gripe is the lack of MP in this version. £70 and it's less of a product. This will be on PS extra or sale soon anyways so nothing to worry about.
The Fidelity and 40FPS mode is broken at the moment. Even with the unlocked framerate, the PS5 will only for VRR in the 38-120hz range. There's a terrible flicker as well. This isn't the case in any other games running in such modes.
I suspect a patch or two will be needed before that mode is playable.
Looks great in performance mode anyway.
Had this pre-ordered.
Played and completed both PS3 and PS4 versions.
Installing this now.
Will likely start playing tomorrow.
@huyi I look at it as somewhat of a future grail game given the limited quantity/availability of the title. Sort of like ripping open a pack of cards and pulling a Jordan or Lebron rookie. You know you could sell it immediately and make a profit or you can hold onto it and let the value appreciate. I’ve never bought games to sell then as a profit and I’ve never traded my games or systems in. I keep everything I buy and because of that my collection value is pretty high.
Indeed i did not.
Bought and played it on PS3 & PS4.
No interest in paying to play it again. Might take it for a spin if it ends up on Extra
Have both the ps3 and ps4 version which has multiplayer.
Love the game but have no desire to purchase it again. Will wait for the inevitable PS Plus Extra addition
Already own the PS4 Remaster.
So I'll skip the PS5 version.
I'll be waiting for a good discount on the PC version - most likely it will be a very good port like God Of War and Spider Man, so it will (hopefully) include even better graphics than the console versions - graphics being the only reason I'd be tempted to buy it.
There's is no 'part 1' for me because as far as I'm concerned part 2 doesn't exist it just spoiled a perfectly good standalone story
@SystemAddict should say I have 0 interest in buying it again when I already own it & think it looks & plays fine
@ATaco And at least with skyrim there’s a 99.99% chance that every time you play through it you’ll see something you haven’t seen before
Maybe when it's around 20 - 30 bucks. Maybe.
I’ll get it when it hits $29.99 not a cent higher.
I picked it up ,the fidelity mode runs 4k 30fps runs horrible.
does concern me the PS5 struggles with native 4k at any decant framerate. Been spoiled playing 4K with the rtx 3080 for the last 2 yrs .really hope the devs get thier heads around this or well need PS6 soon.
Bought it, Love it.
yeah I bought it 4 TIMES ALREADY. I'm not buying it again though...
I may be in the minority on this (I know I am), but Naughty Dog's gameplay has been stagnant since the first Uncharted and by the time The Last of Us rolled around it was downright archaic. I like the Uncharted games in spite of how they feel to play, and trying to do that in a universe as oppressively dour as TLoU has less than zero appeal to me.
@SteveZ85 you keep everything you buy but you don't do anything with it? how can you enjoy something you paid for? I have a friend who is not a gamer but he has the same mentally of hoarding things around his situation (money), this is not a healthy approach for you, you are just trying to justify something you feel is worth something, my personal experience I have the original ico PS2 limited edition with cardboard sleeve you would think its worth money? Wrong it's worthless as soon as the next remaster collection came out my investment is gone, I just buy and play games for enjoyment not something to look at and observe, this is not an art show, from is a meaningless endeavour
@IOI lower than that....
I brought the original and the remaster. I'm not buying it a third time for a lot of money.
Not intetested. Can play it on PS4 or my PS3 if I really want to play it again and it's a lot chepaer than £70.
@huyi Hi Huyi, I did not say that. I said every game I’ve bought I keep because I love video games. Meaning any game I bought, I played it and beat it and never traded it in. Each game is a memory to me. I’ve been playing video games since 1988. I still have all my regular Nintendo games. I keep them because I still play them. God forbid if I lost my job, had to get an emergency surgery, maybe had to pay for a family funeral and I didn’t have the money, I could always sell my video game collection if I absolutely had to. Does that make sense? Any game I’ve bought, I’ve played and beat. If it’s a super limited game, I may buy the physical version and purchase the digital version. Doing stuff like that really helps to support the game developers and keep the gaming community thriving. Hopefully all of this makes sense my friend. I am just an old man who loves to play video games and am not looking for any sort of internet quarrels. God bless Huyi.
I hope they at least started planning a part 3
@Pete_Stooge doesn't seem like it's that hard anymore. Cross-gen games have consistently seen much higher player counts on the PS5 version than PS4 for a long long time now.
I know I’ll buy it, but I don’t PLAN on buying it. Hope this makes sense, thanks for your time. 😂
💯 I’ll buy it eventually… unless psPlus gives it to me
Im good waiting until the price is in th $20s
@meistergeister. Always nice to see a fellow collector.
Despite me talking *****, I bought it, but I didn’t pay full price. I got it for $16 because the most I’d pay for this game is $50. It was a steal.
@Slippship yes wait til that that veritable upgrade price. By then the original may not be so fresh in the mind let alone the remaster and my memory doesn’t exactly serve knowhamsayins
No but not because of the price buying a game I already own over again is stupid.
Hopefully, when I'm getting intimate with Neil this evening and I show him all of your negative comments, he reconsiders the price of the remake.
No interest in the remake, although I don't have a PS5 anyway, so that's probably immaterial. I did grab the PS4 remaster for cheaps early in the PS4's lifecycle and... well, I didn't like it at all. I'm just glad it didn't set me back much. I'm still bitter about how much money I wasted buying Bloodborne near launch.
The last of us is my favorite game ever, so yes I bought it for the third time. Even though I don't agree with the disgraceful price gouging. 40 dollars seems right considering there is no multiplayer and it's technically shipping with less content. You can't tell me they spent ten million dollars making this?
The real reason I got it though is because there is basically nothing else to play
I played it on the PS3 the day it was released in 2013. And then My PS4 came with the remaster when I bought one in 2015. I just dont feel the need to go through that story again on PS5. But im glad those who have never played it get a chance to experience it in such high quality.
@SteveZ85 i also have a ton of retro games, consoles and also a female gamer since amiga 500 days i could also do the same and sell my games but like i said i play for enjoyment and nothing more, i also have memories for my older games, if you want to buy games for investment, so be it but keep the passion alive of how gaming was back in the day, never forget that
Oh I never forget my friend, I just beat Turtles 1 finally which was a bucket list game! Respect on your gaming heritage 👊🏻! I think you are misunderstanding much of what I’ve said but much love and god bless! 🙏
I'm getting it for my birthday, so I can't play it till next month.
@huyi How do you buy games for investment? Everyone and their mother have games. How will that all of the sudden make you money before you expire?
@Suda51ueda A game is not food, it's not even remotely the same thing.
I'm happy with my PS4 Remaster, I'm not wasting my money on a game that's got exactly the same gameplay just with prettier visuals for £70. If it was £30 I'd consider it.
@Suda51ueda Does that include Way of the Warrior and Keef the Thief?
I bought it, selling back a few games I didn't need anymore. My local store was offering very good deals especially for the occasion (they took my Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu for its original price, for exemple, like it was still sealed and everything).
I've played this game to death on PS3, but never took the time to touch the remaster. Which I had, by the way, but I've been lefting it in my backlog list forever.
So, yeah, I'm glad to replay this masterpiece, now. Hell, I've just received my PS5, it will be my very first game to play on it !
I'm excited !
@RobN Nope, no one is upset at Sony for pulling a Skyrim. See you next gen for The Last of Us Super Enhanced Jiggle Edition on PS6.
Ugh. I honestly feel bad for Naughty Dog having to spend more resources and time dragging there collective chins through such a murky, loathsome, violent and depressing universe that is almost too "ultra-realistic" for its own good. Certainly a testament to there craft both games may be. The realism and narrative peaks, the groundbreaking narrative are all highs. I think most of us agree it's not a "fun" series to repeatedly revisit and question why precious time wasn't spent on a new IP. It's a weird admission on my part when the mechanics and gameplay of a franchise are almost ruined by the oppresive story.
@gollumb82 agreed but that was never the issue.
I'm glad they have remade it for ps5.
I just can't justify paying full price for a game,
Ive played 3 times on 3 different consoles already.
The story and the core of the game is still the same as the ps3 version.
And the fact we got spiderman miles morales not at a full price game and got spiderman remastered included.
We also got crash bandicoot completely remade and that was all 3 games.
Even the uncharted collection was sold at a lower price and that included 3 games.
Even demon souls remake at the ps5 launch wasn't that much and I can 100% say the work they had to do, to get that game to the quality it is, when the only source code was for the ps3 architecture.
We've had so many great remakes at cut price prices or more than one game. I just can't justify spending that type of money.
I will buy but not at that price.
Be interesting to see how she deals with the Reavers in the Firefly edition, and where Captain Reynolds appears in it.
@Richnj not so much when eating food. Was far to busy enjoying the food to notice if anyone was ha
I did and im loving every second of it, what an overhaul holy clickers
Yes I did and mine came totally damaged. Push Square should put up an article about this issue. Lots of people with damaged Firefly Editions.
I'll definitely pick it up but I've a few games that I'm working through now that by the time I get to it, there'll probably have been a price drop so gonna hold out til it's a little cheaper rather than buy it at full whack and have it collect dust for a few months.
Already bought the game twice, and I'll say it again: I don't see how you can charge £70 when the game design, layouts, music, sound effects, acting and a load of other stuff had already been done. I love the game but I refuse to pay that much.
Bought it again and Im glad to do so. A game and story this good can be enjoyed many times, and like my most treasured films, it will stay with me for life.
Yep it is a little on the expensive side. But there has been a lot of work put into it more so than rock* did with gta 5. To anyone saying I've played it before? So you've literally never rewatched a movie? Or even replayed a game before. I've got a pretty decent job and can afford some extras but I've overspent this month and I'm in need of a new TV as mine is failing me so it'll need to wait till another time now.
Played the PS4 version and had the PS5 version pre-ordered. I've played about an hour or so and it's beautiful! The opening scene still breaks my heart...
Rockstar release the same game three times on three different generation machines, greed.
Naughty Dog release the same game three times on three different generation machines, publicly praised.
Naughty dog are just as greedy as rockstar and anyone supporting them at this point should be pointed and laughed at.
Needs a poll option 'Are you waiting for the PC version?'
@Agramonte
You are either a troll or a person of taste. I am not sure which one...lol...
I have a short memory so could somebody explain.
Were people just as upset when they released Demon Souls Remake for 80 bucks? Did we get a free upgrade from the 2010 ps3 game to the 2020 ps5 game that I missed? What about the FFVII remake that is not even the full game but we paid 80 bucks for that AND it was a 10 out of 10. Why the hate for the remake of TLOUP1? Why do Square and Bluepoint get a pass and Naughty Dog gets crapped on? Did I miss something?
I played it when it first came out on the PS3 and it was one of my favorite games of all time. I was worried it wouldn't live up to my memories playing this version on the PS5, but nope! This game is still a masterpiece even in 2022! No regrets whatsoever about buying it.
Got it with a black dual sense for 99€; otherwise I would have waited for a price drop.
@grapetrap the 2 you mention got far far far more than tlou which is just a prettier version.
@TommyNL Same plan here. Much as I loved the game on PS3 and PS4, I can't justify spending $70 on it.
When I see it go on sale for $30 New in a few years then probably.
It's too expensive! I own the normal PS4 version, unless the new one is free on ps ultimate - forget it!
I wonder if this is a big miss-step from Naughty Dog and Sony. Multiple polls show the vast majority of players aren't interested in buying it.
We all accept it looks great, but we're just not putting our hands in our pockets so it will be really interesting to see where it lands on the sales chart.
I get the feeling they've spent a lot of time on this but that it might end up costing them.
My concern is that I'm not sure where I fall on this one - I do want companies to learn from their hubris but I also love ND games.
@grapetrap Demons Souls was a 12 year old game when it was re-released and is a fundamentally different game. It looks hugely different and plays substantially differently from the original. The original was also quite buggy and the remake fixes thus.
More than 20 years passed between Final Fantasy 7 and it's Remake. It isnt just a different game, it's a different genre. The story is substantially different, it's fully voiced, its barely recognisable.
TLoU P1 plays the same. The assets don't look hugely different. The story, motion capture, voicing....all the same. It's a graphical upgrade for a game that was only release 9 years ago, and already has a remaster.
So, if you want to know why people are reacting differently, it's because it's been treated differently.
@Agramonte They could have expanded the story, got a whole new slew of fans, but what do they do? double down and give us a rehash. All of that talent that could have been put to use actually EXPANDING the story. ND has lost all of my fandom respect at this point. I know the trolls will go " well they dont have to do it, its their company!" and like "yeah I didn't have to BUY the first game and all of the other games in their company's line up, but I friggen DID!! so STFU!!"
anyway, just a sad plummet for a wonderful company.. oh well
Tbh my excitement went down a notch knowing it doesn't have the upgraded gunplay of part 2.
Back to waiting for factions I guess.
New to Sony ecosystem save a Vita…. Will eventually play this, but have enough to play RN. I bet this goes on sale for Black Friday or something like that…
i bought this on ps3 then ps4 and now ps5. game is amazing love the setting and lore i hope we will see 3rd game. we didn't need this release but i wanted it 😂 my pocket hates me lol
playing through this loving it all over again
Loving repaying this again ,ND done a great job with the remake.
Joel's movement is much slicker better menus AI is improved.
allround much better than the remaster.
Played it & ended it a few times on p3. I never got around the remastered version, so undecided
I bought it. While it is definitely overpriced, I do love the game.
The visuals are a remarkable improvement. AI is also noticeably better and the game feels more fluid. Most sections seem slightly easier than in the original version, however, the dreaded hotel basement section is markedly more difficult because that AI is so much better.
Game feel is also significantly improved, though not up to the level of the sequel. Guns feel weightier and more powerful, especially the shotgun.
Regular enemies seem slightly less bullet spongey, but Bloaters seem much, much more powerful than in the original version.
Wonder if naughty dog are doing it again an using this this to get used to the PS5 development before the next new game like they did with the remaster.
Some best use of the dual sense haptics and the 3d audio is remarkable, you can hear those stalkers moving all around you so much better than 2 and improved visuals make it so good. Well worth the £59
85 dollars for the digital psn store game here in sweden, no way that i will buy it for that much.
first played it on ps3 on a crt tv. the new ps5 looks the same on an hd tv because you see all the pixels so you need better graphics on a hd tv. ps3 version on crt tv did not need high res and looked amazing back then.
Uhm, it costs around $80 in south africa so that's a no from me.
