It's been just over a week since A Plague Tale: Requiem launched for PS5, so now it's time to share your own views and final review score, presuming you've finished the rat-infested adventure. As a direct follow-up to 2019's A Plague Tale: Innocence, it's mightily impressive what Asobo Studio has managed to achieve in just three and a bit years. With an even better story, cast of characters, and improved gameplay features, we believe Requiem is the studio's best game.
Do you agree, however? In our A Plague Tale: Requiem PS5 review, we awarded an 8/10 and concluded: "Technical limitations get in the way some of the time, but with improved stealth and combat mechanics, this is a really well-rounded game that excels at nearly everything it does. Innocence demonstrated Asobo Studio's potential in bursts; Requiem has absolutely realised it."
Now it's time for you to share your own review score. Place your vote in the poll and then expand on your thoughts in the comments section. The rating you pick will affect its overall score on the site, meaning it could now appear in some of our Best PS5 Games lists.

Absolutely amazing game. Brilliant story, visuals, characters, all those rats! I was so immersed in this incredible world that I very quickly forgot I was playing something at a locked 30fps. An absolute must-play, especially if you enjoyed the original.
7-8 for the game and 3-4 because of 22fps on ps5
Only just got it today as a birthday present off my sister so can't comment on the score yet, but from what I've seen (on YouTube) it looks beautiful and I can't wait to start it tomorrow, il probably complete it over the weekend and vote my score then if the poll is still open.
I'm playing it now and so far enjoying it. Probably like a quarter of the way through it. I did manage to break it at one point though by returning to a checkpoint while it was saving. I'll post some screenshots of what I discovered at some point!
Almost as good as the first one but the length was off for me, it just lasted a tad too long.
The first one felt a more believable world too.
Still brilliant and I hope they make more.
I absolutely loved it and I'm playing it again for the platinum and just for pleasure. Honestly might be my favorite of this type of game since The Last of Us 1. Asobo has certainly shot up among my favorite devs after Requiem. I'm hovering between a 9 and a 10 if I had to put a number on it. Excellent game!
Finished the game in around 15 hours.Only thing that let's this great sequel down is the frame rate drops in parts.Played on a LG C2 oled 40 fps mode.
Easily a 9 for me. I'm replaying the first game again and considering it starts out with Amicia hardly knowing her brother Hugo, the bond they form over the two games is really something special.
Never played either game, infact ive not ever bothered to even look in to them but i may have to change that due to the reviews and great comments on here.
Not done with it, but it's in the 8s.
Absolutely loved the game. It's my personal favorite game of this year. The visuals are amazing, the sound track is very fitting and great and the best of all is the voice acting and the story. Barely noticed it runninf at 30 fps not even at the parts with many rats.
Maybe an 8/10. I’m not far enough into it to properly assess, but it’s pretty much like the first one, but better in every way. However, I’m mildly frustrated with the gameplay too because it’s so rigid at times. Because everyone likes to use TLOU as a comparison to Plague Tale, I will say that I’m liking it more than I liked TLOU2. The story, characters, and visuals are truly outstanding. Makes me wish I felt better about the gameplay.
@Anke I agree, the first one felt more ominous and had a darker, more desperate tone (which I really liked). I’ve been playing Requiem in stages and it feels like the rats have been absent for far too long. The characters are a bit sickly sweet too. I’m still enjoying it but nowhere near as much as the original game. I think it’s too early to say the first one was ‘miles better’ (I’m currently at 52% completion according to the game stats - chapter 10 of 17) but it does feel that way so far. Still, I voted 8/10.
7/10 for me. Art and design are great, but gameplay is lacking and framerate is just too distracting. Not sure what it is, but this game feels like it's 20 FPS when it's 30, and 30 when it's 40. And as with any new release, there is a healthy dose of bugs and roughness around the edges.
With that all said, still decent, joy to watch in static, and with a performance patch could be very good.
I think i actually preferred plague tale innocence but this is a top quality game
I'd write a quick synopsis but @Balie3000 covered the essentials in the first post. It's a great game and I was happy to pay full price to support the dev.
I just like to praise it for the fact that it's a dedicated singleplayer game without all the DLC / Season Pass crap.
Just pay once for the full experience.
That's rare these days.
I'm not quite done it yet but it's an easy 9/10 for me so far. Great story and character development and the gameplay is really fun. The level design I feel is a big improvement over the first game as well. My one complaint would be the occasional cheesy/cringe dialogue.
I finished it on tuesday, it was enjoyable but I didn't like the ending and the storybeats to reach it. It didn't have the same emotional impact for me as the first part... I'll never forget that battlefield from the first game, but I have to admit "the island" was fantastic and I liked that you actually were able to reach buildings and places which you could see from afar like in Dark Souls. I really enjoyed the more open aspects in the stealth sections, these were way more fun then in the previous game. All in all a solid 8 for me.
Oh yes and Amicia's character development and especially her voice acting were fantastic. Charlotte definitely deserves an award for her performance.
Gotham Knights is getting a patch with performance Mode. I wait for that in this game.... then...
Good game and I give it an 8 but personally I liked the first game better. The story and tone were more believable in the first one. Kind of funny that Amicia is a killing machine now! Framerate is fine at 40 FPS.
Who the hell rated this a 1 (abysmal)? Certainly you could not have enjoyed the first game and given this a 1. And if you didn’t enjoy the first game, then why play the sequel? I somehow doubt that person even played the game.
It's a 9 to me. My personal Game of the Year.
Story, pacing, Characters and voice acting are topnotch.
Also the OST are pure brilliance. Probably one of the best soundtracks in gaming history.
Improved gameplay. Especially, the combat got better. Also the puzzles, which were already good in the previous installment, got better.
I really hope for another sequel.
Let's hope Microsoft ain't acquiring them.
@ORO_ERICIUS Is it? Did the studio behind Gotham Knights announce it or is it a rumor?
@Stevemalkpus “Some people just want to watch the world burn.” - Michael Caine 😆
@Cikajovazmaj
It's a bit rough on the PS5. PC for the win and XBSX if you don't have a fat PC.
@sword_9mm and its free on xbox 😁
One of the best games i play in years. Really much better than a lot of a games i play. Hope callisto and others future games be like that.remarkable.
@sword_9mm I actually played it on XSS, but didn't think it was relevant for my score (if anything, 900p low resolution adds some artifacting and shimmering due to upscaling techniques that don't work on such sample, but I'm aware of that just being XSS).
XSX might fare better, not sure.
I didn't really like the first one, especially because of the clunky controls which made it frustrating. So far I'm getting a "more of the same" vibe from the stories, so I think I'll skip this one.
Won't buy it until a performance mode is implemented. Even if the resolution and the level of detail is worse. If I look around with the right stick and that isn't smooth it simply kills the immersion.
I played the first hour and a half of Requiem and absolutely loved it, but I've decided to wait for a patch. I'm cool with 30 fps, but the stuttering and screen tearing was to the point that it became distracting for me. I'm sure Asobo is working hard to optimize their game for PS5, especially after how much effort they've put into the dualsense functionalities. I look forward to playing the rest of their game in the future.
Won’t play it till they squash the bugs and add a performance mode. If that doesn’t come, oh well there’s tons else to play.
@JAMes-BroWWWn I agree, the soundtrack really stood out. There was a track which played during chaotic scenes, where it almost sounded like someone forcing an old record player to play in reverse. It captured the scene perfectly
N/A, I haven't bought the game yet sadly. Planning to correct that by Sunday though.
@JAMes-BroWWWn I´ve read it across different sites yesterday. It is not clear for now if it is only just a performance patch to maintain the 30FPS or even a performance mode patch. We will see.
A 7 so far, I'm only about 4 hours in though. The gameplay is a little basic at the moment but visually it's great and I'm enjoying the story, also playing on PC so performance isn't an issue. If the gameplay picks up a bit the further I get into it I'd probably go to an 8
I left 8, but would have given 9 if it was not for the 30fps, which in many cases was not even 30. Story -9, devs - 5.
@CapGod I hate to be pedantic, but there is only one 8
@Korgon What is the platinum like for this game? I'm guessing by your comment it requires 2 playthroughs? Haven't got it myself yet but loved the first one and will pick this up down the line.
@lindos I have my own review system
@Mostik
Yeah it takes at least two playthroughs. It's a pretty straightforward platinum. A lot of trophies tied to just completing the game and collectables. The main thing that requires two playthroughs is maxing out the three skill trees in the game. As far I could tell it isn't possible to do so on a single playthrough but I doubt that will require more than a second playthrough.
Loved every moment of it! Ran really well on my PS5. Didn't notice anything bad to ruin my enjoyment. Looking forward to doing another playthrough but can't decide to do it now before I get swamped with other games or wait for another patch to play it at it's best.
Sub 30 GPS just isn't acceptable. If you are going to target a 30 fps cap, better make sure it at least does that in a stable Manner. I will grab it if they can manage to get it running better on consoles or wait for a 50% discount.
Kinda bummed by this one As I had intended to grab it day 1.
I didn't get it because of the framerate problems. Hopefully they can fix it. May just wait to see if it shows on PS plus in a year or two like the first one did.
@Korgon Awesome buddy, thank you 👍
Im not sure I'll like this as much as the first, but im only 5 chapters in so that may change. The characters seem a bit sickly sweet to be real people, and the game world has moved well beyond historical realism, which is a shame.
But the engine looks great and ive not had any issues with the framerate yet. Voice acting is ok as well considering the script they have to work with. Unfortunately there is no facial mocap so they all look like showroom dummies where eyes and mouth moves, but nothing else does, and this rather undermines the good voice acting.
The whole game has shifted towards uncharted like scripted scenes and totally over the top story elements, but its pretty fun once you accept that.
The games been solid too, ive not had any bugs I could report, which is great for a new release.
Heading for a good 8/10 for me.
I enjoyed the gameplay, the puzzles, rats and combat. However I absolutely loathed Hugo and Amicia. Their dialogue was just so damned annoying - maybe it's an age thing but I just wanted them to STFU almost the whole time. Amicia's arrogance and insistence that she always knew what was right (when she clearly did not) wound me up too. The story and set-pieces became more and more ridiculous as the game progressed and by the end had descended into pure sci-fi/fantasy which I didn't like either.
This comes from someone who adored the first game. It just seemed more grounded in reality and the characters were much more likeable. In requiem they just seemed to have dialled everything up to 11...
I did like the ending though...
