Round Up: All of Push Square's Game of the Year 2024 Winners

I think this might be the first ever year where none of the editorial team picked the same GOTY. Something for everyone!

Thank you Push Square for being the chillest site to comment on for gaming. The community is fantastic with usually no bad eggs. It’s a lot more fun & peaceful to comment and interact here than anywhere else from my experience. I hope 2025 is a wicked good year for gaming and Push Square!!

Congrats to Infinite Wealth for at least securing up one win here! Well deserved so atta boys! By any chance, did you guys do a music award? My vote would’ve been for FF7 Rebirth with Persona 3 Reload, Stellar Blade, and Metaphor Re:Fantazio rounding out my top 4 (in no order for those 3).

I see a great outcry incoming:

DD2 on 8, Stellar Blade on 4. But DD2 became Best Action Game.

A great year for games and 2025 is looking just as stacked. I really need more free time.

Wow, would you look at that. Astro Bot is not only the staff and reader game of the year but also MY game of the year as well. Usually my tastes rarely ever align with the masses but I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.

Well deserved obviously, Astro Bot was far and away the best game I played last year so it's good to know that so many others feel the same as well. I think its safe to say Astro is going to become a staple in Playstation's core IP going forward and I'm very much looking forward to what's next for the little guy.

All good choices. What’s odd is there’s no mention of Black Myth Wukong, a game that won the players choice award but which I always thought was mid and overrated. And this was the year of Balatro, a game I’ll probably be playing for the next two years

A shame there’s no Best Music’ category this year. Ah well. I enjoyed combing through the coverage!

@riceNpea For the Euromillions, every Tuesday and Friday I believe. I know there's others in the UK but that's the only one I've ever attempted to win 😅 never have been much of a gambling man but maybe now's the time!

I'm interested to know if you all purposely chose different GotY. If you didn't, it shows the high level of quality we received all year long. While quality was high, I don't think there was a truly outstanding game. I expect that'll change in 2025.

@PorkChopExpress I'll put 2024 like this. It was nowhere near the insane quality that 2023 (Spidey 2, Mario Wonder, BG3, AW2, TOTK, Armored Core 6 etc) had (unless you are heavily into JRPGs) but Astro Bot would've been my GOTY in both years. Being more or less indifferent to JRPGs and their way of telling stories 2024 wasn't all that impressive for me either and I instead used it to clear the 2023 backlog a bit.

The quality of releases were more consistent throughout the year versus all coming during 3-4 months.

@riceNpea lol I don't even know what I'd do with that much money. Maybe I'd fund an animation studio to finally make a good Berserk anime. I just know it'd feel so damn good to never have to work another day in my life.

SMTV:V is my GOTY. In short, the most original and well made game so far. Sad that PushSquare snob this game, despite the universal critical acclaim it got.

Rebirth didn't win anything ? Not even best remake ????? I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

It was a great year and I really like your choices. Glad to see Like A Dragon gets the recognition it deserves.
