I just tried the Anthem demo. I liked Warframe AND destiny, and would have played those more if I had a team, so I thought it may be worth checking out.
This game is deeply flawed in ways I can’t see them fixing by release. e.g. The first demo mission had us stuck for 5 minutes on a combination lock puzzle. We only solved it because I googled it.
You can’t run in the social area/hub making it tedious.
I literally had to look up how to swap weapons. Maybe they’ll tutorialize that in the full game?
I know these seem petty but there are so many little things that aren’t right, small but fundamental or irritating things.
Anyhow, has anyone else tried it? Better experience? I see @splat online.
I'm looking forward to the full game. That said I do feel like they did a really bad job with the demo. I think starting you at a level 10 and just kinda throwing you in with nothing explained was a huge mistake.
It's hands down at it's best playing with other people. I would not recommend it if you only want to play solo.
@Splat I don’t WANT to play solo, I just don’t have a fireteam for various reasons. Agreed it is a team game primarily. Fighting the boss in the 2nd mission was a mess with an uncoordinated pug.
I enjoyed my time with it but was playing with a few friends. I will agree the demo was horrible at explaining the game but I find most demos are. Still I am looking forward to this game in a few weeks. I need a good online MP game since Fallout 76 fell flat.

How is this looking visually? Cos all the gameplay vids it looks really bland and unispiring, and some stuff like the textures look almost last gen in places. Put this next to something like Destiny 2 and the difference is night and day.
I was looking forward to the demo but after playing the first three missions I found it to be a bit boring.
The three missions I played felt very uninspired. It was basically going from one point to another shooting a bunch bullet sponges with poor AI. Speaking of shooting, the shooting in Anthem feels kinda meh. Destiny definitely wins on that front. The menus weren't user friendly either. Best part about the demo was actually the flying and verticality. Some of the ultimates were pretty cool too but that's about it for me. Also found it a bit disorientating when they have so many special effects going at the same time on screen. I also worry about the end-game content, from what I heard, currently it's only strongholds with harder difficulty.
Regarding microtransactions cosmetics, I wouldn't pay more than $2 maybe $3 for them. Anthem isn't a free-to-play game, they shouldn't be charging $20 (if the rumours are true) for a skin.
Definitely, won't be a day one purchase for me. Gonna wait a while to see if they improve the game or if it'll just end up being another Destiny 2.
The latest patch totally broke the game for me... Every time I click on the game it crashes my PS4 Pro. I don't mean the game crashes I mean my PS4 turns off! Three times in a row I'm afraid to even try it again. Every other game I try works fine.
Until the guild system becomes live, the alliance system seems to be the best way to net some extra coin. Already friends with one of the forum goers here, but would be great if we could get a few more. If you're playing ANTHEM, feel free to add me as a friend to get that alliance list topped up!
I am enjoying the game and can't wait to continue playing this evening.
