Is it a reboot? A sequel maybe both. Today Activision announced the newest CoD game today which appears to be another addition to the Modern Warfare series.
Feel free to discuss your hopes for the newest CoD game here!

So I totally forgot that the open beta started yesterday. I downloaded it now and will be checking it out in a few hours. Just curious if anyone else has played it and what there thoughts are?

Played a few hours tonight which I really enjoyed. My son and I decided to try cross play him on the Xbox One and myself on the PS4 and it worked really well. It ran really smooth and during the time we had one disconnect. It was so good that I even forgot he was on the Xbox. 😂
As for modes we just stick with ground war for the time being which was a blast.

So after putting in some time with the beta playing mainly Ground War and TDM here are my thoughts.
Ground war is alot of fun it's basically CoD's take on Battlefield. Take large maps of Battlefield add the gameplay of CoD and that's groundwar. For me this was my favorite mode it added some strategy to CoD similar to Battlefield. You have points to take and defend so even if youre not to high on the KDR meter there are still ways for you to help your team. There are vehicles such as Tanks and ATVs that again add variety to the playstyle. The map size felt bigger then say a normal 5v5 CoD map but with 64 players on it it better be but it didn't feel as big as a Battlefield map where you trek forever it seems to find the enemy. I had the most fun with this mode.
TDM however was not too enjoyable. First off I did the Realism mode, which is what they are calling Hardcore now however for realism it wasn't to real. For example shotguns are a joke I shot an enemy in the head twice and he was able to kill me with a few hits. The map design was very poor for one thing the maps I played were too antfarmy, where there were way too many ways for enemies to come at you even if you watched one path there were five other paths that enemies could get to you so you would always get shot in the back or some other B.S. Then there were the campers OMG way to much Spawn camping, door camping etc. So even if you had 5 paths to go down people would just camp those spots. There was no strategy it was who could camp first wins.
Now I don't know if they will have other modes, I am sure they will but TDM is just a joke. Personally if I get this game it will be for ground war.
The other thing to mention is cross platform. As I said before my son played on the Xbox One and I the PS4. Connection ran smoothly, and we had a blast never did we feel we were at disadvantage playing against PC players since they were in our lobby as well and I do hope more games will make use of this feature.
Other then that the Beta felt good except TDM and played well gun balance was a bit off like with the shotguns but it's to be expected. I wasn't planning on picking this up but I might now after I played the beta.

i have to disagree, ground war was ****ing awful, and it was as buggy as anything and ran like garbage. i tried 6 rounds of it before giving up. 3 disconnected after less than 5 minutes, 2 crashed to the console dashboard, and only 1 finished.. and even then, i was on a team that was being slaughtered, that nearly half the team bailed rather than suffer an abysmal k/d ratio. if people are not camping miles away from objectives with their sniper rifles, then everyone is clustered around the B/C flags, it's just an endless cycle of spawn/die. and when there's boatload of players in a small area, the framerate tanks, and people start skipping across the map in a series of teleporting jumps. it's obviously supposed to be CoD's version of battlefield's conquest, but it's so far from it in terms of how it plays..
overall, i'd say the only thing i liked about the beta was the weapons - they feel a bit punchier/weightier than typical CoD, and thus are more satisfying to use than previous instalments.. so that might be good for the campaign, but overall, the things i don't like about CoD, and the things that really infuriate me about it, are all still present.
I loved all modes that I tried, the whole game plays great. It's slick and a lot of fun. I think my favourite mode was the 2v2 Gunplay, after a few games it's like a strategic game of chess mixed with COD. I'm excited for the full game!
Can't think of anything good to put here just yet, watch this space...
Anyone else got the bug of the special ops pack redownloading since the big update?
It downloads, *installs (well it appears to) , but when you go in game to launch it, it says I have not downloaded it and starts again)
I've managed to get Multiplayer working again but still can't launch co-op.
I've found a few links to it online (reddit and what not) but still no fix
