You know, I often want to post something PS4-related (from games to hardware and news), but I don't want to create a new thread for a small comment, or spam the forums with threads in general. Seeing how the general Switch thread does well over at NLife, I thought this may work for PushSquare too.
Too often I want to say something, but end up not saying at all because I can't find the appropriate thread, and I'll end up posting it in the PS4 thread over at NLife. Maybe this will help.
If @Tasuki disagrees, let me know and... I guess you can lock it!
So there's a digital games sale on the PS Store right now (along with a big EA offer) and I'm leaning towards picking up The Sexy Brutale and Everything. On the EA side of things, I could be tempted to grab Titanfall 2 as well. Not sure!
Anyone else planning on buying/already bought stuff in the sale?
@Rudy_Manchego Yeah, I thought about getting Superhot (the less exciting non-VR version). Sammy was super enthusiastic about both versions of the game.
@KratosMD Darn it, you've just reminded me I have Jak and Daxter still to play through!
Everything, for me, I think would fill a space previously occupied by Noby Noby Boy - a mess-about sandbox you can spend five minutes or two hours playing, depending on your mood. Plus it's only 6 quid or something, so not exactly a bank breaker.
On another note, I really need to get an external HDD. I'm constantly having to make room.
@Throb Seagate HDD are usually good on the cost/quality scale. I got a 4TB USB powered on for about £115 last year for my Xbox from Amazon but I'm sure that the price will have come down.
@Throb@Quintumply I have LOVED having my external HDD. When Sony first did the update allowing for it about a year ago, I got a Seagate 2TB for about $60 at a discount shop. They're a little more expensive at a major retailer like Best Buy. It functions perfectly and there is literally nothing to do for installation — just plug it in. The only downside is that you lose a USB port to it and you have this small drive sticking out of the PS4 so it ruins the aesthetic a little bit. But since I don't do multiplayer much, I don't need the extra USB port and what I have done is put all my multiplayer games on the PS4 internal HD and then all my single player games on the external (it's easy to transfer files back and forth) so I can disable and unplug the external HDD when I want to use the other USB port for another accessory like my headset.
But I so love having all the space and not having to delete games all the time to make room for new ones. Highly recommended. For me 2 TB has been plenty. I'm only using like 1/4 of it so far. But I see online you can get like 5TB for around $120 if you think you'll need that crazy amount of space.

That's brilliant, I have a 2TB installed internally but that is nearly full, so I think a 4TB external should last me a while!
Can't think of anything good to put here just yet, watch this space...
@Th3solution Yeah, I've been thinking of getting one ever since the update, but I never get around to it. I don't think I need a crazy amount of extra space, but another terabyte or two would really help. Perhaps I'll make a point of getting one when pay day comes around.
@Th3solution I got the 5TB Seagate Harddrive for my PS4 last year and I love it too. Yeah maybe went overboard with 5 TB but I got it for $100 so why not. I agree the down side is losing the USB port especially on a launch PS4 which only has 2, I heard the pro has 4 though but can't confirm since I don't have one. The only thing I did was I bought a charging station which plugs into the other USB so that way I can charge 2 controllers at the same time. Lucky for me my headphones plug into the controller so I don't have to worry about needing another USB.
The only time not having a third USB is a problem is when my son and I want to play Lego Dimensions which then we have to unplug the charging station to plug in the portal. Might look into one of those USB splitters but for now it's ok having 2 since we rarely play Lego Dimensions.

Also guys let's not turn this into a thread for game recoomedations, we already have one of those, if I see that this thread becomes a game recommendation thread I will have no choice but to close this thread.
Thanks for understanding.

@Tasuki Yeah, having four USB ports would be nice and obviate the need to juggle things around. I've been tempted to "go Pro" but my launch PS4 just works perfectly fine outside of just having the 2 USB ports. Without a 4K TV, I haven't felt inclined to spend the money.

Anyone have recommendations or experience with cleaning out their PS4? While playing this weekend I noticed how dusty mine was getting on the outside. Cleaning off the outside is easy enough, but the internet has a bunch of info and videos about how to clean out the inside, which involves cracking it open. My launch console is not overheating or making unusual sounds, it runs perfectly as far as I can tell. Just didn't know what the prevailing opinion and experience of the community is with regard to opening up the box to clean it out. Anyone do this as a preventative "maintenance" on their PS4? I just don't want to risk damage to my system either way (by not doing it if it needs it on one hand, or by doing it and accidentally breaking something inside on the other hand.)
@Th3solution I haven't opened up my PS4 as I feel like it doesn't need a thorough cleaning yet, but I assume the procedure is relatively easy. I know you can easily remove the top left panel. I suggest using a can of compressed air, I personally use an air compressor, but I know everyone owns one of those. Most of the cleaning I do is from the outside by carefully blowing air through the console, that gets rid of a good amount of dust.
I'm certain there are tutorials on YouTube on how to open up the PS4 for cleaning.
I've finally ordered myself an external HDD! I was only going to get a 1TB as I thought triple the space would be plenty, but the 2TB version was only about £15 more, so I went for that.
It'll be so nice not having to constantly think about what games I want to keep installed. It might also mean I can finally play Wolfenstein: The New Order, which I understand is like 40GB or something?
I also ended up purchasing Everything in the sale, although I've not played it yet. Looking forward to having a silly, chilled out time with it.
Our Visceral studio has been developing an action-adventure title set in the Star Wars universe. In its current form, it was shaping up to be a story-based, linear adventure game. Throughout the development process, we have been testing the game concept with players, listening to the feedback about what and how they want to play, and closely tracking fundamental shifts in the marketplace. It has become clear that to deliver an experience that players will want to come back to and enjoy for a long time to come, we needed to pivot the design. We will maintain the stunning visuals, authenticity in the Star Wars universe, and focus on bringing a Star Wars story to life. Importantly, we are shifting the game to be a broader experience that allows for more variety and player agency, leaning into the capabilities of our Frostbite engine and reimagining central elements of the game to give players a Star Wars adventure of greater depth and breadth to explore.
Such a shame. Of course, it's terrible that Visceral has been closed, but it's also very sad that their game will be totally rehashed to favour long term play. We are in no real need for more "service" games, if you ask me. I was really looking forward to playing a cool single player Star Wars adventure, and nothing more. :/
