@get2sammyb: Whilst part of me shares that pessimism regarding a delay to the planned 2016 release. we don't know exactly how far along they actually were with this. We know its been in development for quite a while - Guerilla stated they had a 'small' team working on it whilst the rest were finishing up Killzone: Shadowfall. That's at least 3 years. Before Shadowfall actually released, the majority moved on to Horizon leaving a 'skeleton crew' to tie up loose ends and any additional work on Killzone. Its possible that the build we saw at last years E3 could be 75% finished - maybe the main quest line, all the areas, NPC's, wildlife etc all finished and the last year has been adding side quests, trading, infrastructure and 'polishing'. It could be of course that was the 'only' area they had in a state to show but I have seen 'new' games that don't look or run that well. I know it had a few 'frame rate' issues but it still seemed quite 'polished' apart from that. Looking at the Technomancer for example which is due out in a few months, Horizon looked far more polished. I will still keep my fingers crossed for this year - maybe even released with the PS4k

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Can't say I'm surprised. To me, it just seemed like a longshot to see the game out this year. I'm sure it'll turn out fine though.

I absolutely HATE the whole idea of PS4K!!! HATE IT. Just seems like a way to try and grab some quick cash. That being said, I tend to agree with @DerMeister in that I think if Guerilla takes their time with it this will be a better game for it. Too bad its being pushed back to 2017 though - that's a while to wait.
@BodyW-outOrgans: If it's true, it looks like it's getting delayed by two or three months. I don't think PS4 NEO is the (sole) reason. They need to downscale the game for PS4 anyway, and making a version with a more stable framerate isn't that much work. I don't think it'll run at a higher resolution, 1440p is probably pushing it considering the scale of the game. This is just speculation, but I think it'll only offer a more stable framerate. Maybe it'll target a 60fps, but that probably won't be a consistent framerate.
I just hope that all the other games make it in time; The Last Guardian and Gravity Rush 2 for example. We haven't heard a lot about those games either. Although at this point, I'm more worried about GR2 than TLG.
@Octane: The Neo has over 2x the power of the base unit so it could hit a stable 60fps - if the base manages to hit a stable 30fps... It could I guess go for 1440p or maybe 1200p too - either way the game looked incredible on the E3 demo - albeit with a few frame rate drops in that build.

@BAMozzy: Somehow I got a feeling that it won't hit a stable 30fps, that's why I think most of the extra power will go to optimisation rather than targeting a higher fps. I think that should be their first concern, a stable 30fps, maybe they'll target 1440p if the fps doesn't drop as much as I think it will.
@Octane: If they can't hit a stable 1080/30 on the PS4 that proves we need new consoles! They could of course go the route of dropping the resolution - dynamically so that some of it is 1080 (cut-scenes and low action) if they really can't manage to keep the game at a stable 30fps. There are ways of ensuring a 30fps without screen tear issues but the most likely is a 'drop' in resolution. No doubt they are pushing to see if they can keep 1080p first. Killzone MP for example is 900p so they are not adverse to dropping resolution to maintain a frame rate. I know the E3 demo had a few frame rate issues but that was nearly a year ago and we haven't seen much from this game since - only the same 'sequence' played out a few different ways. We really don't know if they have managed to fix that issue or not. It looked a lot better and more 'detailed' than many games that have released or due out before this - with smaller areas, less enemies/npcs etc - just look at the Technomancer video for example.

@BAMozzy: Yeah, it's all based on the demo. I hope they fix it and I'm sure they'll try. I was more thinking of a full stable 30fps, without any drops, instead of a 25-30 framerate. NEO is probably capable of more, so maybe they'll upp the resolution as well. Anyway, I'm definitely still looking forward to the game.
@Octane: I would be a lot more concerned if those frame rate drops were in a game expected in a few months but not in a game that's likely to be released 18months or so later on. There is still plenty of time to resolve that. It hasn't stopped Dark Souls 3, Fallout 4 etc being popular despite those not having a 'locked' 30fps. As I said, that to me is evidence enough that this current gen is not 'powerful' enough!

@BodyW-outOrgans You and me both. I just want to play games, is that too much to ask?

Here's some neat trivia; Apparently the game will mostly take place in Colorado; a Reddit user compared the in-game locations to land formations and monuments in the real world.
Here are the Maroon Bells:
There are more examples in the link below, the Pikes Peak Range Riders memorial can be seen and the Colorado National Monument will be in the game as well. I've been wondering if the game was based on any real world location, and it seems like it is. Pretty cool easter egg.
The game looks absolutely amazing, in terms of artwork, graphics, and the lore. What worries me is the writing and voice acting...
That, and, like, you know, gameplay.
I think the gameplay, from what we've seen, looks incredibly fun. Aloy looks very mobile, and I like the emphasis on the bow-and-error. I'm not worried about that aspect at all - Killzone was always very good from a gameplay perspective IMO.
I loved the new trailer. The E3 2015 reveal was excellent but really didn't give any indication on the actual background of Aloy or the 'story'. This trailer though gave a lot more information. Aloy isn't the daughter of the tribesman that we initially were led to believe and her real history is part of the driving narrative - as much as the mystery of the world and current 'state' of it.
I do think the 'visuals' have taken a bit of a downgrade - in particular the character models and robo-dino's and during the 'game-play' - the cut-scenes looked a bit better. The thunder-jaw didn't look quite as impressive as the E3 version. They don't look 'terrible' now of course, just not quite as impressive as the E3 reveal in my opinion.
As for the writing and voice acting, its difficult to get a complete impression from a short trailer and the full impact and context of the delivery from a short snippet. Even movie trailers can look 'poor' from a trailer but turn out great and of course vice versa too...
I was already hyped for this game but now I know more about Aloy and the actual 'story', my Hype has gone up a few levels. Some RPG's have a very poor 'main' story thread but make up for that in other ways - like side quests, RPG elements, etc. This looks to have an interesting world (post, post Apocalypse with Robo-dinos), an interesting history and mystery (who is Aloys family, what happened to the world, where did the robo-dinos come from - they obviously haven't evolved from the native wildlife etc) and the game-play looks good fun too.
Can't wait!!
