So I come from a game called World Of Warcraft. I dunno, if this has been asked before, couldn't find anything. What is the best MMO on the Console & does it compare anything to World of Warcraft popularity-wise.
Like people have already mentioned, The Elder Scrolls Online and Final Fantasy XIV are the most popular ones. There are also several decent free-to-play ones. You won’t find anything that isn’t also available on PC though.
Cheers for all replies will check them out only MMO I played other than World of Warcraft, was Star Wars: The Old Republic. But that was along time ago.
@Davehunt I played a bit of Elder Scrolls Online and I liked it quite a lot, there is a really cool PvE system where you have three factions (each of which can hold A LOT of players) and you all fight each other throughout Cyrodil, attacking opponents castles and defending your own. It’s great.
Also, although I haven’t played it… from what I gather Final Fantasy XIV has evolved into the best MMORPG ever.

As an old WoW player myself nothing comes as close to WoW on console. That being said your best bet is either Elder Scrolls Online or Neverwinter.
The only problem I find with Elder Scrolls Online is that it's classless meaning everyone can do anything. Some people like this I particularly don't. But other then that it's a great game.
Neverwinter is good to but playing it just made me want to play WoW even more. It just felt like a low budget WoW.
It kinda sucks that Blizzard didn't port WoW Classic over to console but it is what it is.

Pretty much what others have said, Final Fantasy XIV though admittedly I've taken a break from playing it for now as I found some of it quite repetitive and I dare say a bit boring. Still a great game overall though.
When I'm relaxing playing it I can often spend hours just flying around on my Ruby Carbuncle Mount.
Final Fantasy XIV is the best. It might be the best ever. It probably is the best ever, actually.
FFXIV has a really good story. It's one of the best Final Fantasy stories. It's a bit of a slow burn because it's an MMO but it's a bit like a really long TV show or something. Characters come and go and then turn up again sixty hours later and you're like, "Who was he... what was... oh yeah" like when you're watching Game of Thrones and that dude who was in one episode of series 2 suddenly returns in series 5. There's a lot going on but it's a great story.
The world is really charming too, because it's Final Fantasy. All the usual rubbish. Chocobos, cactuars, moogles, all that. Awesome music. Rubbish hair choices, if I'm honest. But great music. The world is nice. Lots of variety. Cool outfits. Etc.
The combat is whatever. It's MMO combat. Cooldowns, rotations, etc.
Chill, largely nice community.
The slam dunk here is that you can play Final Fantasy XIV for free up to a point. It's quite generous. On PS4 I think it was up to level 35, but I'm sure I read something where they're upping that for the PS5 version and you can actually play further.
@johncalmc The free trial lets you go up to level 60 and includes the first expansion , one of the most generous offers in the gaming industry. Insane amount of content for free, the only limiting things are social features so you're unable to add friends or make parties in game.
Does anyone know why this FFXIV isn't big on twitch & doesn't have big content creators on youtube? I was watching a youtube video from a BIG wow twitch guy.. He was going through how FFXIV has more subs/players but doesn't come close to WoW with twitch streamers, Youtube creators, and so on. He was backing it up with numbers etc. I was just curious why FFXIV isn't big on Twitch & Youtube compared to wow? But numbers show it's as big/bigger with current active players.

Played WoW for a decade or so. Nothing comes close to WoW in popularity or their ability to throw money at the game. I mean, WoW is still raking in $100,000,000 per month USD. That buys a lot of development dollars.
I suppose Destiny mostly counts as an MMO, and is a great game I sunk 800 hours into. It has raids and guilds and gear grinds, and even classes. Monster hunter kinda counts, sorta.
Guild wars is a better experience IMO if you are looking for something new, and there is no monthly fee (money comes from tempting you with mounts and skins and boosters - but no pay to win). That isn’t console though.
I tried FFXIV like others have mentioned, but by that point had no desire to meet new strangers and to find a new guild, and those games are nothing without a guild, as I’m sure you know. I didn’t particularly like the game either.
@Bentleyma- IIRC, it means you need to charge your weapon’s enchantment. Either that or it wants you to put an enchantment/poison on it in the first place. It’s been a while for me too!
@Bentleyma it is the world's most useless icon - I originally thought it meant I'd broken my weapon!
You can get the ESO base game disc (which actually includes some of the other chapters now, I think?) for about £6 - seems to be quite cheap on the PS Store at every Sale event.
Wasn't overly keen on FFXIV (tried it but just got confused by the awful map) and Black Desert is pretty awful on the PS4 at least (even a Pro can't smooth it) so ESO is my go-to MMO of choice. You can play it as PvE solo, PvE group or PvP. Gets a few game breaking bugs with every expansion but they usually do sort of fix them.
