@KratosMD Dang, that was a turn-around. I can't wait till the price drops on this game now. I'm probably gonna grab it whenever that happens. (I have rule of not paying $60 for something I didn't pre-order.)
Hmmm I've just watched a spoiler free podcast on this, and I'm sold on it now. Will defo be getting at some point, but probs only when the DLC hits. I always have a chunk of time off work around Christmas, so i think I will pick it up then, hopefully all the DLC would have been released by then.

@KratosMD I think I'll take you up on that advice. I know it'll get a game of the year edition. Speaking of complete, I can't wait until FFXV gets completed and I play through it again.
Wow this has kept Tomb Raider from the top spot in the UK charts, with only a 42% drop in sales. That is a very low fall as it is usually a 55 - 70% drop.

I don't know why but I am just having the hardest time with the swinging physicals in this game. Whenever I travel around town people must think I am a drunk Spider-Man. Lol

Just completed Spider-man and these are just some of my thoughts on what I liked and didn't liked about the game:
Liked:
Characters
Story
Both swinging and traversal were a lot of fun. That being said, I suck at those drone chases and could never get gold rating.haha Combat was quite fun as well.
QTEs during big fights and action sequences were epic!

Disliked:
Some of the character and costume designs.
Base missions and random crimes can get very repetitive after a while. It's the same issue that Rocksteady's Arkham games suffered as well.
Boss fight mechanics weren't that interesting. Another issue that the Arkham games had as well.
Not really a negative but some parts of the game; i.e. - Mary Jane's and Miles Morale's sections felt very Uncharted/TLOU like.

I just rolled credits and really enjoyed it. It's probably 3rd on my GOTY list after Monster Hunter and God of War. That said easily the best superhero game I have ever played. There are somethings the Arkham games did better but as a whole I found Spider-Man way more fun to play.
I beat the game yesterday. As usual, I spent a bit of time getting my thoughts in place for it.
I'm actually going to start with story- Surprisingly, this was a very well done Spider-Man story. The pacing may have been awkward at times, but I lived with it, especially when it began to pick up in the middle, when Mr. Negative's plans are revealed. And once we get to late Act 2-start of Act 3, it was just bang after bang after bang. All the way to the end roll.
Having Peter Parker as a 23 year old was something I approved of, as I thought we needed adult Spidey to return. Being the same age, I related to him enough, trying to get a job and worrying about a place to stay. The story doesn't linger on that too much, just enough to show his not really charmed life. The highlight though are his interactions with May, Mary Jane, Miles, and Otto, which are very well done in my book. The dynamics he had with them are hearttugging and feel very real. Which makes the final act, where May dies (HOLY CRAP THEY ACTUALLY DID IT), he and MJ make up, being a big bro to Miles, and witnessing Ock jumping into madness very emotional.
I want to praise and question the game's use of villains in the main story. The encounters with Kingpin and Shocker early on were well done, even if they were kinda basic. Martin Li/Mr. Negative was a highlight through the game, and I really liked his status as the big bad while it lasted. I'm not familiar with his comics incarnation, but this version left an impression. It was great to see a lesser known enemy have so much effort put into them. Now, the Sinister Six (well, five since Sandman's trapped in a backpack) I thought when they were shown and when Otto turned to Ock, it felt like the game was doing to much too soon. I was hoping that Ock's predictable heel turn would be held off, but ultimately, I thought everything was executed well. The fights with Vulture/Electro and Scorpion/Rhino were entertaining, and everything with Ock was written so well that even if I wished Li remained the main villain, Ock was a worthy final boss.
And of course, Miles getting his powers and Harry having the symbiote were great sequel teases. I'm interested in what comes of these, since it's pretty obvious this game will get a sequel now. Overall, this is the best Spidey story I've seen in a while.
Now, the gameplay. I love it. I really do. The combat is fun and frantic. It's like Spidey being the Dante to Batman's Kratos. It's flashier and has more flair than Batman's hard hitting style. Maybe a little stiffer than Batman's more flowy combat, but enjoyable and satisfying. I'll definitely praise using Spidey's agility and air combat to set itself apart. Using the web attacks also made a fun time. Nothing was more fun than webbing someone and throwing them to a wall. And much has been made about the web slinging. It's very fun to traverse around the city, I could just do it for an hour without getting bored.
I definitely loved the option to switch between suits over the course of the game. I didn't use it personally, but the amount of suits available and the selection was great. When it came to the suit powers, I only used the Battle Focus, and customized the suit to extend the use of it, but the options that are there and the variety are a plus.
The side missions are kinda a mixed bag. The highlights are the ones featuring villains like Tombstone and Taskmaster, the former acting like a sidemission in the Arkham games while the latter are a bunch of combat and traversal challenges, eventually culminating in a simple but fun boss fight. There's one with a downright obscure villain named Screwball, but it honestly didn't do much for me. It's just a snipe hunt. The rest are kinda simple open world fare- Collect stuff, swing around, fight bad dudes, it's basic, but I also kinda enjoyed it, because it meant partaking in the enjoyable combat and traversal. When you have fighting and movement down like this, it made the banal stuff easier to swallow.
The low point for me are the stealth sections. They're not bad, but they tend to be pacebreakers. I only the second one (for story reasons) and the last one (Where MJ gets a taser). Otherwise, meh.
The graphics here are great too. Easily one of the best looking PS4 games. I don't have a Pro but it looks great regardless. NYC is gorgeous and the detail on the characters is amazing.
Overall, this was a very good game. I was gonna say this was a 8/10, but with how good the story is, maybe a 9 isn't far off. Insomniac nailed it with this one.

I'm just rolling into this game now, even though I had pre-ordered the deluxe version. I have some back-log and jumped into Tomb Raider first.
I'm only 55% campaign as I like to roam around a do the side missions along with the main story to keep things well balanced. I hope to have the game about a 100% at the time the main story is there too.
Anyway, here are my thoughts:
This game has grown on me the more I play it. I am really enjoying Insomniac's Peter Parker aka Spider-man. This game is just plain FUN. I've had a few burst out loud laughing moments with his comments, which is rare for me, as most game writing is subpar. So far, the writing has been good.
The swing and fight mechanics sure have a learning curve, and I am appreciative of the little bonus conditions on the missions, as it helps me figure out new moves and, in the end, makes me a better Spider-man. I've gotten to be pretty good now, so it's made the game more fun.
I still use the white spider suit and I just can't be Spider-man in some other crazy other suit. Am I alone here?!! Allowing you to be able to pick your suit abilities no matter which suit you have on is a great game mechanic, btw.
Does that section where Spidey got poisoned by the Scorpion and then has to get to the antidote remind you of the one where Batman has to glide to avoid falling into the toxic gas in one of Rocksteady's Arkham games?
@WanderingBullet I found it had a close feel to the Arkham Asylum Scarecrow nightmare scenes where Batman has to run around avoiding the mobs and the eyes of Scarecrow more. But I do find there has always been a big similarity to the heroes in DC and Marvel. They kinda have been ripping each other off for decades
