Wow am I really surprised there wasn't a thread for this game but since it's finally arrived on PS+ I guess now would be a good time for one.
I managed to put a few hours into it today and it's about what I expected. I can see why this was a launch game for the PS4 as it really shows off the graphical power of the PS4. It reminds me of a Pixar type movie. I also thought the music is quite good too. I am enjoying the story as well. However for a $60 price tag they were asking for at launch I think they were crazy. While yes the game looks great and it's playstyle is unique it really doesn't feel anything special. It's hard for me to explain really.
One thing I don't like is how the right stick is for dodging instead of a camera control. Often I find myself trying to move the camera and find Knack rolling off a cliff or something. Not sure why they thought a Dodge stick was needed. Also I find the lack of healing kinda annoying. They have a ton of those power crystals everywhere but very little health, I feel that maybe the enemies should have a chance to drop some. Other then that no big complaints.
Overall as a free PS+ game it's great now would I have paid $60 for it probably not. Definitely one of the better free PS+ games given out.

@Tasuki When the PS4 came out the only package I could get hold of was with a copy of Knack. And being it was my very first ps4 game that may be a reason why I enjoyed it as much as I did.
Pixar movie is exactly my thought too as I was playing and that's what helped me enjoy the game, especially at the beginning where the gameplay was really slow..like a tedious tutorial,I found I was pushing through just to see the next great cut scene.
But as the game continued I began to love it more and yes I agree with your camera and dodging comment but I think I must adapt to different controls really well as it didant take me long to get used to it.
A hard as hell game though and once I finished it I didant even bother going for the trophys as there was no way in hell I'd be able to get them!
At the end of the day I loved the game and never did understand the hate for it.
With the lack of decent titles at launch, I got the Knack Plat followed by Need for Speed Rivals. I enjoyed Knack for what it was. It was a really challenging game with quite a bit of replay value. I personally feel it was overlooked and dealt a bad hand. It's a decent platformer imo.
I just finished my second Hard difficulty playthrough of Knack and was very pleasantly surprised with how fun the game was. And while the story and characters may skew to a younger audience, this is quite a challenging game as well. The amount of hatred this game got was completely inconsistent with the mostly well-designed, great looking game I just played. The original poster said it reminded them of a Pixar movie and that's the exact thought I had when watching the cutscenes.
The fact that collectables only carry over on the same difficulty and that the crystal collectables are randomly generated made this WAY too much of a grind for me to try for a Platinum trophy, though. I hated leaving a game that doesn't have online trophies at only 48% trophy completion, but time to move on to another game.
If you like old school platformers, disregard the negativity directed at Knack and give it a try while it's still free on PS+.
@drk Infamous second son also gets unnecessary hate. The travesal is brilliant imo and its fun.
Oh well. I will be giving knack a blast now so thanks for the recommend.
