@render I got both of those a year or two ago but only needed the hard mode run for each. I remember trying hard straight after completing the game and really struggled but weirdly had no issue going into the game fresh.

I felt a bit cheated just completing the second game with the bad ending but couldn’t bring myself to do everything to get the good ending for a second time.

Well done to folks for their recent plats.
@render I haven't played Guacamelee 2 as I gave up on Guacamelee 1, beyond my skill set and I remember being stuck trying to get up a tree...so frustrating.
@sorteddan Signalis is definitely on my to buy list.

@sorteddan @Thrillho @CaptD Cheers all. I wonder where Guacamelee fits in in terms of difficulty with other games of its type. It feels quite a challenge at times but then perhaps not as had as something like Hollow Knight which was hair pullingly tough in places. I think it hits a good level where it does always feel achievable.

Thrillho

@render I think it strikes a good balance with the main games being a reasonable challenge but with plenty of additional challenges/content to really push you.

Certainly nowhere near the Path of Pain or pantheons from Hollow Knight!

@CaptD
Well if you are going for Signalis any time soon.
First playthrough (mostly blind) took around 10-11 hours on normal difficulty. Then found out there is one ending (Artifact Ending) that you can only get it you've already beaten the game, you will need a guide to find the hidden requirements for it but it skips the end boss fight making the hard more (survival difficulty) run considerably easier to do. Took around 5-6 hours. But I don't think those times account for the time where you die and have to reload a save, so probably an extra hour or two on top of those.

@render
Yeah I don't remember the main games being particularly difficult, it was getting the hidden orbs on the first game that REALLY tested my dexterity, skill and patience.

Got the platinum for AC Odyssey a couple of days ago.
#8 for the year & likely the last- unless I go back to that pesky DQXI trophy over Xmas.

Really enjoyed it for the most part. No missable or online trophies & everything could be done before finishing the main game.
I ended up going with Kassandra even though I did flip flop at first & wore the Ezio Attire for the entire game.
Played through the game on hard, but did knock it down to easy when taking on the legendary beasts (could not be bothered at that point).

Most annoying trophies were the Pirate Treasure hunt & stepping foot on every sub-region/island in Greece.
The latter in particularly was infuriating. Probably ended up visiting 99% of the map twice. The place I ended up missing? Some part of a mountain that was ‘greyed out’ similar to how the mountain would look if it was visited. It just had to be 🤷‍♂️.

Ubi really do a great (?) job in keeping the player engaged. Between Cultists, Mercenaries, naval battles & map markers you’re always doing something.
Need a nice long break from AC before I jump into Valhalla.

@Fight_Teza_Fight Congrats. I really liked Odyssey despite being a bit like warm on the location after Egypt but I loved the world that Ubi created...they are the masters of creating worlds (perhaps not always populating them).
I too played Kassandra and enjoyed her wit.
Really enjoyed the navel battles in this and felt it was the best yet.

CaptD

Fight_Teza_Fight

@CaptD Thanks. The naval battles were pretty good- still not Black Flag, but close.
Just wish you could swing onto another ship/platform.
Far too often I’d just get as close as possible to a marker with the ship & then swim to shore lol.

Voltan

An older game but...

Platinum #52 is Control - Ultimate Edition
Replayed the entire game because I never played the DLC and some of it is directly related to Alan Wake.
I originally gave up on the PS4 plat in 2019 while only missing the trophy for defeating Corrupted Tommasi - I simply found that encounter too hard and eventually let it go (after more than 50 attempts iirc). Probably wouldn't bother with trophies this time if they didn't add "assist mode", which I only used for this one fight.
Don't have 100% on the DLC yet but might do that too. Will need a guide for secrets and collectibles though, as they're required for both.

edit: I have now made it to 100% on both DLC

@sorteddan Just an FYI, there seems to be some discussion on psnprofiles about a recent update breaking career progress on Powerwash simulator and hence breaking the 100% career trophy.

CaptD

@CaptD
Lol, was literally just searching the internet for solutions and other people experiencing it as I completed career this morning and have since gotten all the other trophies so should have the plat now... But I dont. Hope it gets fixed soon, thanks for the heads up.

@Voltan Congrats on that Control plat. I've got that one for PS4 and enjoyed doing it again for PS5. I remember that Corrupted Tommasi being a bit frantic but enjoyable. Nothing beats the Ashtray Maze though.

Sable (PS Plus game). Difficulty 2/10. 15 hours.
Wow what shocking frame rate, wow what shocking bugs, wow what shocking camera ...however no trophy bugs, it really is a Xmas miracle.
Interesting game and I did enjoy it but the frame rate and camera jolting did give me a headache and normally I'm not too bothered by frame rate (I've played Elite at 1 or 2fps).

Thankfully no progress bugs or trophy bugs although I did experience a crash which strangely wiped about 2 hours of progress which is very strange as the game auto saves all time but I guess it went back to the manual save due to the auto saves being corrupted...who knows but I did make manual saves all the time. Why did I make manual saves you ask, well pulling out your fishing rod may lock the game (50/50 chance) forcing a quit. How this managed to get pass Sony certification is anyone's guess.

@CaptD
Then congrats for sticking with it despite the numerous issues you faced. Seems a shame it's such a state as I think it's something I'd enjoy (and am probably gonna play anyway).

“We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.”

CaptD

@sorteddan Cheers, you should definitely play it but it won't improve as the Devs have stated that they have moved on. I did read a thread that said avoid at all costs but that is Ott and I do recommend it, just make sure you save often and be aware of the fishing bug (I saved every time I caught a unique fish).
Also there is an awesome worm map on Steam which helped me to get the 100 I needed, I was dreading that trophy.
If you do play it then feel free to ask me any questions as the trophy guides out there are quite lacking, not that much of a guide is needed and nothing is missable.

PeaceSalad

Congratulations to everyone for all your recent platinum conquests! Great to see the good fight still being taken to those trophy lists 👍

I reached 50 platinums this year, which had been my main focus, and the plan is to stop chasing them now or at least not going out of my way for them and bring the focus back to just enjoying a good game. I’ve turned off notifications on both PS5 and Xbox and it has been wonderful if I’m honest.

You never know I may change my mind in the future but for now this feels good.

I’ve popped 11 shiny platinum prizes in 2023. (Including a double 😱)

How did everyone else do?

I Have No Idea Where This Will Lead Us, But I Have A Definite Feeling It Will Be A Place Both Wonderful And Strange.

@AgentCooper Oooh nice haul although I won't say what my total is and let's just say that I probably did 50 this year.
Enjoy your ping free new year.

A few of my favourites were ...
Dead Nation (so pleased to get this after almost ten years and all thanks to the PushSq community for giving me the incentive to return to what I thought was unachievable).
Demon's Souls Took me back to the old PS3 days.
Riders republic Such great fun and an improvement over Steep. Happy Xmas Ubisoft, don't let the doubters get you down.
Dead space. Took me back to the old PS3 days.
Witcher 3 PS5 Still a fantastic Rpg and can't believe I've plated it three times. Bonkers.

Happy Christmas trophy hunters.

MidnightDragonDX

I got to 110 with Bluey. It was fun and felt like it captured the spirit of the show.

So far this year I have attained 47 lovely shiny platinum trophies (I may still have time for one or two more before the year is done).
My favourites were Deaths Door, Arcade Paradise and Days Gone.
I was especially happy to finish Helldivers around six years after first playing it!
My least favourite was the massive grind that was Grid.

And of course a happy Festivus for all the frequenters of the trophy thread.

@sorteddan I loved Days Gone, so much so that I went for 100% even though I hate score based challenges as repeating the same thing over and over is the definition of insanity.
Just shout if you need some tips for the challenges, assuming you didn't do them.
