@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy Yeah, I’ve only really been using Atlas because I need a ridiculous weight level in order to use my massive sword! Perhaps I should look around all the different blood codes I have and make a change now rather than a couple of hours down the line getting destroyed by the next boss 😂
@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy Ok wow yes, those last couple of bosses were really quite difficult! The second one was a better designed and more fun fight but yeah, that took a few tries. Onto the Government Outskirts now so I think we’re near the end! Not sure when to do the admittedly rubbish looking DLC though.
I've been using different codes as I explore to unlock more gifts. But when it comes to the bosses I immeadiately switch over to the Isis blood code thanks to it being pretty balanced towards dexterity and the attacking spells which I use pretty frequently against them @nessisonett.
As for the bosses I actually preferred the Canonner and Blade Bearer fight to Mido despite the fact I faced the first two like thirty times compared to the... seven attempts I tried against Mido? Both were pretty good though and Mido had some really unique moves to him like the time bomb things.
I'm a little further ahead of you having faced once more boss. I think I've done all the "sidequests" the game has and only have a few depths maps left to clear so hopefully I'll be getting the "best" ending the game has tomorrow!😅
@Arugula Nor me. I think I had moved on to games like GTA and MGS when they were out originally. I have it downloaded to my PS5, but I have a feeling it will be one of those games which I always manage to find an excuse to play something else. Which happens a lot.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@Arugula Savage! But I suppose it's no point keeping it on your console if you have no intention of playing it. I used to go through my games on my ps4 and external hdd and have a purge every now and again.

@TheLightSpirit Does it actually make the game hard then? Proud mode was one of the easiest experiences I’ve ever had with an ARPG. I’ve beaten 2 and BBS on Critical which were a lot more fun being that difficult but KH3 was so incredibly rubbish in combat that I’m not sure I could put myself through that again. At least I could just skip all the cutscenes.
Good silly fun already and another new location too! One of the hints said that you can attack enemies using L2 and triangle to avoid using heat actions if you don't want to (e.g. if you want to stomp someone on the ground).
Has that always been a thing?? It used to annoy me you couldn't do this before.
Just got a PS5, might first PlayStation every to go along with my Series X. I am diving into all the PS4 exclusives I missed last year. I just finished Ghost of Tsushima, beautiful game, and one of my favorites of the generation. I am targeting now starting either God of War, Uncharted 4, or Horizon: Zero Dawn. Which one would you guys recommend?
I love open world games, but also enjoyed a lot the Tomb Raider trilogy in my Xbox which is why I am looking to Uncharted. Any thoughts?
@Casco For open world games I really dug Witcher 3, and Final Fantasy XV is also pretty solid, while Dragon Quest XI S is one of the best JRPGs I've played in a while (although I played it on Switch so can't speak to how it runs on PS4)
I also give the Yakuza series a giant recommendation. Great sandbox style games with engaging stories and some of the best side quests in any JRPG
Another one I'd swing for is NiER Automata. It's very atmospheric and has a timely narrative touching on stuff like sentient AI learning how to grow human emotions and how they cope with the changes in how they percieve their peers in a world that's mostly been wiped clean of the human population and only dominated by machines
For more sandbox style stuff that's open ended without necessarily being open world, I loved Marvel's Spider-Man (but have yet to play Miles Morales since I'm still PS5 hunting), as well as Persona 5 Royal
@Casco Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the prettiest games on the system, and the combat against various robots (especially the enormous mid-to-late-game ones) is quite fun. It's one of those games where hours would pass by almost in the blink of an eye. The worst thing about the game was the load times, but those should basically evaporate on PS5.
@TheIdleCritic Uncharted 4 is my favorite as well. The deconstructive writing/approach to Nate's relationship with adventuring was long overdue, and I appreciated that it actually built up to a thrilling climax that wasn't centered around some lazy supernatural mystery.
@TheIdleCritic Yep, Uncharted 4 is my favourite by quite some margin. I like 2 but recently playing it I realised that it’s got all the depth of a puddle. 4 actually tries to do something a bit more interesting and it totally pays off.
@TheFrenchiestFry Agree with all your recommendation. Actually played most of those in Xbox. Particularly Witcher 3 and Nier Automata are great, did two full playthroughs of both of those (Witcher 3 second playthrough was on Switch a year ago, when I still did business travel). I loved Spider-Man remastered (was the first game I completed on my PS5). Still holding on Miles Morales tough.
@Ralizah@TheIdleCritic thank you both for your recommendations - leaning for Uncharted 4, as it should be good to change from a open world to a more linear game, before diving into HZD. I think it will be one of those the next one I'll be playing.
@Ralizah@nessisonett I completely agree. I have nothing against Amy Hennig, and she's done great work but I'm glad they went with a more humanistic, grounded narrative. Regardless of whether the supernatural aspects were hallucinations or not, the plot device was never my cup of tea. I like the gameplay more too - basically The Last of Us but much less tense haha. Not to mention it looks beautiful.
I’ve now finished the extra scenarios in Dragon Quest XI S and have started Act 2. Can’t believe I only noticed that Rab was voiced by Alex Norton, who was in Taggart for like 35 years. Can’t say I’m overly fond of some of the narrative decisions however, with Jade being subjected to one of the worst tropes out there, big pervy monster wanting to bang her and dressing her up in sexy clothes. Akira Toriyama’s art and the voice acting combined to make for rather uncomfortable viewing, not in the way that it was intended but just in terms of the portrayal and tropiness. That in itself is just a real shame given the rest of the game like how Sylv could have been portrayed as a proper stereotype but actually is one of the best written characters in the whole game, especially given how truly horrible Sugiyama’s attitudes are towards people like him. Dragon Quest has traditionally been a bit tone deaf but this game has actually made some proper strides forward and to see Jade reduced to a Slave Princess Leia cop-out was a bit rubbish. I am enjoying the game though, already spent 40 hours with it and looking forward to seeing what happens next.
Gave Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night's new Classic mode a try.
... I hate it
Got to the third level and the some of "classic" design choices are annoying as hell to me. Doesn't help of course that I've never played any of the original castlevanias that this is clearly trying to invoke but... ugh.
The third stage in particular has some aggravating enemy placement & some really precise platforming (which doesn't help with Miriam's limited/reduced control scheme and moveset in this particular mode).
I was playing on easy too but all that does is give you 9 lives and more mana potions to use the sub-weapons/abilities. Doesn't seem to make the enemies hit any weaker and there doesn't seem to be any healing I could find scattered about either.
Plus falling to your death takes a whole life off of you so whilst the checkpoints were fairly regular it was still rather annoying.
Even with it only being 5 stages long I don't think I'll ever be persuaded to give this particular mode another go and see it to the end. 😅

@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy You’ve pretty much described my thoughts playing the original Castlevania a while back! Losing a whole life when you fall is absolutely awful, especially when it’s due to knockback. I could never really get on with the classic Castlevania games other than Rondo of Blood and even then, that game is properly brutal.
