So yesterday or perhaps the day before there was an update for the PS5 controllers. Since then the controller does not charge in the dock. Apparently the functionality of that was removed by Sony in the last update, hopefully they will send through another that will sort this as using a charging dock is so much more convient.
If the DS5 can be reset like the DS4 can then i would try that if you have not already. The DS4 has a tiny hole near L2 where a large paper clip can be inserted to press a reset button.
No hole near L2, there is a hole on the back towards the bottom though. I'm not sure I want to reset it, as I'm uncertain it allows you to even use the controller until you have done the update. I just find it ridiculous that Sony would remove the function for a controller to be charged with a dock. It also now doesn't charge through a standard plug (which it did before).
Unless ofcourse its a mistake and the update wasn't meant to change any of this, its quite ridiculous.
@Niko001 Not an official dock no, but they charged on it until that update came out.
Its not the controller as I have 2 and neither charge from it. The controllers still charge as they should but just not with this certain cable from a standard plug or from the dock anymore. Hence why I've said it can only be because of the update, that's the only thing that has changed and I've been told as such from the manufacturer of these charging docks (they could be telling porkies ofcourse).
Perhaps it's just the unofficial docks then, I've obvious contacted the company already and I can send it back so I will do that. I would've got the official one but as we all know they are extremely difficult to get!!
@Niko001 I've no doubt it is the best way, however with none available and my last dock (for the PS4) being third party and working for 5 years, i took the chance. It worked perfectly for a few days but no longer. Its just odd it happened on the same day the update came out and at the same time the USB C cable and plug stopped working also.
