@Herculean “The game so far is great. An d more than I expected it is quite the looker actually. Its art direction is second to none and a step up from previous From games.”

Thanks for this! I’ve been at odds with all of this talk of PS3 level graphics. Some shoddy performance aside, I find the game stunning. I’ve taken so many screenshots of my journey, in awe of the hauntingly beautiful and ethereal world FS have created.

@Mega-Gazz there's a guy (well, giant) in Liurnia that you can buy Somber Smithing stones from. I think he has a limited supply of the level 4 and 5, but the lower tiers you can buy as many as you want.

I can only assume that there's a vendor somewhere that would do the same with regular smithing stones too, but not come across that yet

correction: just looked it up and according to the internet, it's level 3 and 4 he has limited supply of, so it must be 1 and 2 you can buy as many as you want

@velio84 At least you don’t have to farm blood vials. That alone sets Bloodborne all the way down in my estimation.

The crowd, accepting this immediately, assumed the anti-Eurasian posters and banners everywhere were the result of acts of sabotage by agents of Goldstein and ripped them from the walls.

I made my way through Stormveil Castle this afternoon. That place is classic Souls, and I still don't think I've explored all of it. I missed one section in the middle because I was being chased by about twenty enemies.

Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.

Epic… frikkin EPIC! day of gaming. Just hung up the controller for the night and real happy that I managed to defeat The Red Wolf of Radagon just before I did so (as he had been absolutely kicking my *** for the previous 45 mins or so). Maybe I was a wee bit underlevelled for him or something… but was a proper challenge.

17 hours in… and won’t be able to play much now until the weekend maybe… but I know I’ll be tweaking tomorrow and Friday for sure 😅.

@colonelkilgore wow! In one day and 17 hours I think you’ve made it farther in the story than I have in two weeks and 43 hours 😂 you’re a brakeless souls freight train!

@colonelkilgore I am amazing you held off from it for this long, especially considering your iron-strong allegiance with all things FS-related! What build/weapon you go with?

It really is a great game, even for an 'everyman' Souls fan like myself ha.

Just hitting up the Academy, and enjoying the change-up of enemy variety... some of those magic attacks I'm receiving are punishing me.

@Gremio108 I absolutely did that too 😂 those moments of absurdity as you get chased Benny Hill style in the midst of all the stress and seriousness are golden

@Jimmer-jammer well, I did get around 6 hours in last night in fairness… so two days really 😅. Also, I’m sure you’ve done a ton of things I’m yet to do… I saw a post from you earlier about getting Castle Morne done, I ran from that giant archer outside there when I was down that way last night… I had a load of souls and very little estus. I’ll get back that way at some point though.

@CJD87 so I’ve gone with my usual, UGS strength build. I started as a Hero class and very quickly found a decent UGS in one of those black carriages. So I’ve just been upgrading that as I go… think it’s like +5/+6 now.

About my restraint… I just know myself all too well buddy. If I’d started it without cleaning the slate, I wouldn’t be able to fully enjoy it… as I’d have the fact that HFW would’ve been sat there unfinished gnawing away at me. The fact that I cleared that… as well as fitting in a little freshener has just perfectly primed me to glean every vital drop from this. I actually said to the missus over supper tonight, I think I had my best day of gaming that I’ve ever had today. Unbelievable game!

@R1spam I swear it felt like I had the whole castle after me at one point. Soldiers, giants, bats, dogs - it was like a cartoon or something.

@colonelkilgore Great to see you're enjoying it, (and the same goes for everyone else on here). Over the last week or two I've been wondering which of us will finish it first, but after seeing how well you're doing, all bets are off...

Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.

@Gremio108 I think technically I could just go and finish the game in a couple days time since I have fast travel points outside 3 different shardbearers including the end of the capital. But I’m working towards the platinum so probably won’t be first.

Good god, Leyndell is gigantic and confusing. No idea where I should be going, although I've at least activated a few points of grace and killed some field boss-ish enemies now (mostly with underhanded means like bow and arrow and poison, lol).

@Gremio108 @R1spam I'm at the same point I think, but I managed to clear out all the smaller enemies. Then got thwonked by the big dude at the back. He was probably smirking at me, watching me use almost all my arrows and bolts.

@colonelkilgore Nice! Glad you're enjoying it...

Strange I've not seen many UGS builds when summoning, most seem to be playing full-on magic and/or Samurai w/bleed (including myself ha)

I'm currently needing to level up my faith for a particular incantation but always feel dirty in putting points anywhere other than DEX or VIG! Happy gaming Tarnished

@JohnnyShoulder that courtyard might have the most amount of enemies I've seen in one place in a souls game!! Especially when you've already fought a miniboss and a courtyard of other guys before you even reach it

@Gremio108 yeah it is great to see so many people playing and enjoying a From title, particularly all the people who usually gravitate to your CoD’s, Madden’s or FIFA’s etc. It really looks like this could be this gen’s Skyrim in terms of cross-over appeal.

… and in regards to my progress… nah I won’t be finishing it anytime soon. I’ve got it planned for all of March and April (at least 😅).

@CJD87 nice dude. Yeah bleed seems insane in Elden Ring eh! I’ve fought a few red phantoms… and some guy in a corrupted church that all had bleed and it’s crazy how quickly it builds. Sounds a very good choice of build from what I’ve seen so far. Go get ‘em tarnished!

@lolwhatno 🤣 pretty much mate, though I saw a guy rocking a dual-wield grave scythe build on a YouTube review the other day and it looked so metal! I’m very tempted to try that once I get lucky enough to find two grave scythes.

I’ve only got to play a bit. About 5 1/2 hours in, but I’m kind of stuck at the min. I’m at Margit. Anyone got any tips? I’m playing as a hero, battle axe+2. I just run out of healing, even while playing defensively.

I focused on endurance, strength & dex. Endurance=Strength. Starting to think I should’ve focused on damage more.

@Fight_Teza_Fight in addition to @velio84’s advice, I’d try and find some Golden Seeds, sacred tears and smithing stones if I were you. Then you’ll be able to have more charges on your flask, heal more from each charge and hit harder… and you’ll have probably levelled up a fair bit by the time you’ve gotten all of that squared away too 👍
