@colonelkilgore In that case, WOW, if Elden Ring fully utilises the GPU's cores, it could blow DeS out of the water, and then we should all take advantage of the fact that it looks infinitely better on the PS5. Incidentally, did you see today's Elden Ring news? (rumor) https://wccftech.com/elden-ring-alleged-concept-art-leak/
No I hadn’t seen that news, so thanks for sharing.
In regards to the info and rumours I have provided, it’s all obviously supposition and hearsay at the moment. Although I would definitely want the next gen versions of Elden Ring out at the games initial launch... I would happily play it on PS4, if then I could get another plat for it when it releases on PS5. If the trophies are’nt stackable, I’d probably wait for the PS5 version if it is to arrive later.
I’d just like to add that the last game we had a dedicated ‘hype thread’ for was Cyberpunk so yeah, the entire concept seems to be flawed. Getting hyped about games before we’ve even seen what it truly looks like just doesn’t appeal to me.
@nessisonett
You make a very good point, I personally wasn’t ‘that’ excited for CP2077 but I am as excited as I’ve ever been for a game with this... so I’m hoping this is not a bad omen.
To be fair, the Cyberpunk thread was created at the beginning of this year, only a few months away from the initial release and after we had seen a a couple of trailers with about an hours worth of gameplay.
I see no harm in it. If you don't like it or have no interest in the game, just don't post in the thread.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@TheBrandedSwordsman I thought of you when I saw all the Elden Ring rumors dropping the last few days. Are you getting hyped? Looks like we’ll probably get more info soon.
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
I've not seen it, but the video leaked earlier and the authenticity of it is being questioned. Ms have confirmed that there will be no announcements for the game at any of their events this month too. So I guess the wait for any official announcement continues.

@Th3solution I've seen the leaked footage now, some Googling should help you find it, have a look before it's all gone! So hyped. @colonelkilgore the same applies to you, bud!
I've seen the footage. The minute long trailer too.
It... sure is more dark souls looking gameplay with the addition of horseback combat? The footage is fairly bad quality though and kinda ruins the whole thing. Art design/direction looks nice as it always does in a fromsoft game.
... Not much more to really say though about it beside apparently the footage is a year old, an internal trailer that was never supposed to be seen and is from an earlier build of the game so things could be changed up a fair bit.
@Ralizah Unless I missed something, it is not going to be fully open world, just more open world like areas than before. That is one of the things that most people enjoy about the games, finding your own way around the world and using the excellent world design to help in this. When I've played the games, I've never thought they could do with a map, not once.

@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy@Ralizah This is an upscaled version, dunno if you have seen it already. I reckon the game will be excellent, even if it has changed quite a bit by now, the basic (core) elements should still be there, it looks very From Software-esque does it not? I think I caught a glimpse of someone using a Greatsword in one of the early combat scenes by the way, Foxy, also I hope the multi-limbed amorphous blob-type boss makes the final cut, the one holding a shield, as I reckon he/she/it looks like a great boss .
@JohnnyShoulder I was constantly getting lost in Bloodborne. It was miserable. A game can have great world design AND have maps that allow people to situate themselves in their environment.
Frankly, when I think about heavily exploration-driven games that lack some sort of map function, I'm immediately reminded of games on the NES. The Legend of Zelda and Metroid are similarly baffling without some sort of map feature, which is likely why both games featured map systems when their SNES entries released. And even Zelda came with a physical map in the box, from what I recall.
It feels like the sort of basic design feature that almost any other developer would be mercilessly ripped for if their games happened to lack it.
I've been fine with no maps before in the souls games @Ralizah (Though Code Vein shows it doesn't take much away from the experience by including one) but I have to admit if it's truly "open world" a map would really come in handy for this as I would totally get lost otherwise 😄
I'm not sure why you're signalling me out about Greatswords there @TheBrandedSwordsman... It's kind of a given they'd be there and I really don't use them all that much! Though you could be saying you're going to make a guts build in it 😅
And yeah I already said it looked like more Dark Souls/A FromSoftware game and honestly I kinda know what to expect more or less... Aside from a few bells and whilstles (Like there seems to be a crouch button or The horseback combat), a new setting and such it's not that much different from other Souls games 😄
@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy They don't necessarily have to make it immediately accessible, either. I didn't mind Hollow Knight's approach of holding the map hostage until you explored an area thoroughly and actually found the mapmaker. It was a thoughtful compromise that allowed for areas to retain some sense of mystery without sacrificing such a basic qol feature entirely.
I appreciate you mentioning Code Vein again, as I keep forgetting about it. Really, I think I'm just going to play that to get my exploratory action-rpg fix and quit waiting for FromSoft to develop games that don't actively irritate me.
