I am new to the series. Is the PS4 (GT6) worth getting? Mainly asking bc it’s so much cheaper and there seems to be a lot of criticism of the latest rendition
@rockodoodle I believe that GT Sport is still a worthwhile purchase even now, but others with the game might be able to give you better advice. There's not as much wrong with GT7 as people would have you believe however. There's a bunch of us on here that have been playing it for months and while there are issues we've been having a pretty good time playing both the single player portion of the game and online sport as well as multiplayer lobbies.
Push Square GT7 Fastest Lap Challenge - results week 3
So the results are in for the 3rd week of the Push Square Fastest Lap Challenge. As always thanks all who took part, I'm mighty impressed that so many people set some good lap times considering the rain should have been a real challenge this time round. There was also a few controversies that I had to deal with which has taken much deliberation to come to a conclusion on how to deal with them. The in end what I've decided to do is have a set penalty for any infringements of 10 seconds which is applied to the persons fastest lap. This should essentially put them to the back of the pack, but if there are multiple people infringing then the order will basically work in favour of the person who cheated the best. So the top 3...
Congrats to Mr_B021 for showing everyone else how it's done. Well done also to Kairu who has been in those top 2 spots for the past 3 weeks and to MatthewJP who has launched himself into the top 3 for the first time this week.
The rest of the times were as follows:
4th: @nitram2k11 1:52.868 5th: @Jimmer-jammer 1:53.679 6th: @JudgeDredd 1:54.300 7th: @velio84 1:56.678 (10 second penalty applied after admitting to using the walls to gain extra lap time) 8th: @render 2:00.968 (10 second penalty applied for having an illegal upgrade on my car raising the PP by 10 over the default settings) 9th: @Abarth_71 No time set (added for honourable mention as he was honest about having an engine swap on his car which would have beasted everyone else)
Top job everyone and thanks for taking part. Another challenge will be heading your way on Monday for anyone brave enough to take it on. Catch you guys then!
@render the aim is to one week be in the top 3 on merit and not after controversies, but I'll take it!
Thanks again for putting this together and the time it clearly takes keeping track and typing it all out
@render thx! I figured for its price right now, it might be something to play for a while until whatever kinks need to be updated and maybe even a price drop or Black Friday deal.
Nice! Where can I claim my roulette ticket? Thumps up @render for the though but fair decisions he had to make as a steward this week. Looking forward to Sunday and next week’s challenge.
Hey all, here's the next midweek fastest lap challenge already. A quick reminder for anyone that hasn't taken part yet, each week I'll pick a different track and car combination - hopefully one that we've all got from playing the campaign or one that isn't too expensive from the used car or brand central dealers and we then see who out of all of us can set the fastest lap with it using the TT mode on the specific track. It's open to anyone from novice to seasoned players and is just a bit of fun with the only prize on offer being the feeling of smugness knowing that you've beaten your fellow Push Square forum members.
This week I thought hang on lads, I've got a great idea so it's going to be a bit of an Italian job. As I've never seen the remake I'll be channeling my inner David Salamone or Richard Essome rather than Mark Wahlberg but perhaps that's for the best. To avoid the issues of last week with regards to cars and upgrades this weeks car is available from the used car dealer at least for the next 4 days so if you think you've modified it you can always grab a fresh one from there.
Track: Sardegna Road Track - Layout B reverse Car: Mini Cooper S '05 Settings: Default settings sheet (if you think you might have changed settings just create a new sheet) Tyres: Comfort Soft Time of day: 08:25 Method:
The idea is to go in blind, no practice using the track / car combo before hand and no restarting - this is going to rely on everyone being honest as there's really no way to police this. Any day Monday to Thursday this week go to World Circuits, select the track followed by Time Trial -
Select the specific time of day -
Select the car and tyres -
You've got 5 laps to put together a solid lap time. Once you've crossed the line on the 5th lap exit the time trial and take a screenshot of the times screen as per this example:
Upload the image to Twitter or another sharing service e.g. imgur.com and post the link here. Please try and leave it till Friday to post your screenshot so as not to influence other peoples times but I can appreciate that this won't always be possible e.g. going on holiday. I'll take a look at all the screenshots and pick the driver with the fastest lap and they will be awarded the prize of being a Smug G(i)T and be able to bask in the glory of their achievement for an entire week before we start all over again.
Please let me know if you are thinking of taking part as it'd be great to gage interest, otherwise your time starts now - let's not synchronise our watches though!
@rockodoodle Glad you are enjoying the game. i believe there are a lot of similarities between GT Sport and GT7 so at least your learnings from Sport will mostly apply if you do eventually get 7. I suck at GT too but still love playing it.
Well done everyone whose submitted a time so far. I think this one has been more challenging than I imagined. I will put the ones that I’ve got so far into my spreadsheet and publish them later in case there are any last minute entries 👍
Push Square GT7 Fastest Lap Challenge - results week 4
So the results are in for the 4th week of the Push Square Fastest Lap Challenge. Great work from everyone in what I thought was going to be an easier challenge but turned out to be pretty tough. Like last week there was one controversy but @Kairu kindly forfeited so it made it easier on the stewards. Lessons learned from this week is that the Mini has less than ideal brakes and that corner one is so vague it’s possible to do it 5 times and still not know where to brake. So the top 3...
Woooo that was close at the top and actually it was close further down as well with Quintumply less that a tenth behind that 3rd place in 4th. Well done Velio on securing the top spot and unlucky to everyone else really as if they found the entire thing as sketchy as me then I totally feel your pain and feel like we all should have been up there just for getting the job done.
After that I already have confirmation that some of you won’t be buying a mini as their next car, and while I can never say never I can’t wait to find out what’s next. Look out for the next challenge on Monday. Catch you guys then!
