MindsEye had a story trailer and gameplay trailer at the most recent PlayStation State of Play. I think that it looked off especially the gameplay trailer that had the protagonist Jacob always shooting and blowing up cars similar to a Michael Bay movie. I can't believe that it's coming out before GTA 6, I wasn't expecting this but I'm still going to give the game a shot to keep me busy until GTA 6 comes out. So far, many people are not impressed with the game that was supposed to be the GTA killer with Leslie Benzies in charge of it. It goes to show, a legendary guy like Leslie Benzies who was one of the brains behind Grand Theft Auto will potentially put out a trash AAA game like MindsEye. So at this point even Dan Houser leaving won't even affect GTA 6, maybe Rockstar will always be the best game developer and make top notch games no matter who is working on their games. A lot of it could be to do with the amazing RAGE engine, Rockstar DNA along with the culture which any game developer can take advantage of and learn from. Sam Houser is still there and he will put out another extraordinary game being GTA 6 while MindsEye looks like the most AI made game that you can possibly imagine. Are you still excited for MindsEye and will give it a try like me and do you actually think that it can be better than GTA 6?

I’m certainly interested in Mindsey3, I do enjoy open-world games (particularly games akin to the GTA series) but I agree, the gameplay did look a little rough considering how close we are to the supposed release. The fact that Benzies is heavily involved only adds to my interest too tbh.

I find it highly unlikely that it’ll pose any serious threat to GTA6 though. Historically, I’ve enjoyed most GTA-likes but none of them possess that feel of pure quality held by all GTA games from III onwards (I never played the original GTA, GTA 2, nor GTA London). I went back and played GTA IV last year and while the actual gameplay has dated some, the feeling of a living, breathing game world is still top-tier.

@graymamba Games are most likely to be mediocre or just decent at best these days and I don't know why. Just look at highly anticipated games that were years in the making like Avowed and Starfield among others end up being a massive letdown. Who knows how The Elder Scrolls 6 will turn out but I wouldn't be surprised if it flops and Todd Howard is a big liar by the way. We were incredibly lucky to get a game like Skyrim from him but it's very outdated now and the next gen ports were wasted potential. I lived in a time when video games were incredible but I don't know what in the world is going on with game developers in a time when we have superior dev kits, game engines, hardware, consoles, PCs, etc. but perhaps it could be a major lack of talent now. Ironically, Leslie Benzies was a big part of the Grand Theft Auto series and will be putting out a potentially crappy game being MindsEye. GTA 6 which is a huge exception will most likely still be extraordinary without him being involved.

@DarthMaster09 I dunno mate, there does seem to be a lot of doom and gloom around gaming at the moment but on the whole I’m still enjoying a lot of the games I play. Personally my biggest issue is the industry’s drive towards live service, as my favourite games are generally big budget single player affairs that seem a difficult proposition to green light these days.

I do have some concerns over GTA6 too though tbh. They’ve lost the vast majority of that core group that made the franchise what it is and I can’t help but feel they left due to the direction certain elements were being steered. I’m still positive overall and excited to play it but can’t help but keep my expectations in check a little.

I’m excited for Mindseye, but I don’t have any expectations. Honestly, before the reveal title of the game I thought it was a reboot for Driver. It looks cool, the gameplay looks fun, and the story seems crazy. My only concern is the repetitiveness of the quests and gameplay.

@graymamba I think a lot of the doom and gloom is mostly from people wanting constant hype and the fact that everything is so fractured now as a community (fanboism has been bad since ABK, culture wars, live service vs single player, millennial games vs boomer games vs gen alpha).

The internet and modern social media has promoted and prioritized negativity for so long it is the only way we consume things. Personally I think the last 4 years have had some of the most consistent high quality releases ever for single player games.

With regards to Mindseye. I liked the look of it, it'll have to be priced correctly and we have to understand GTA has decades of experience and polish and investment to make all comparisons silly. It feels like an appetizer before the main course. The same way I felt about the Saints Row games.

The game presents excessive action through its explosive special effects which generates a Michael Bay cinematic experience. People may find limited enjoyment from this game before GTA 6 releases. Public anticipation reached great heights because of Leslie Benzies but the surrounding excitement seems weaker than expected. I plan to play the game just to evaluate how it performs with my own eyes.
