Topic: Humankind Just Shadow-Dropped and... Silence

Humankind for consoles was delayed indefinitely last Autumn after getting pretty great reviews across the board on PC. It looks like a great alternative to Civ VI and I'd added to my store Wishlist way back on that basis. Browsing my Wishlist today and it's...out?

It came out on 22nd August apparently and it's a PS5/PS4 cross-platform release; I haven't seen a single review of the console version, just a Sixth Axis article to confirm the release. This is just weird.

Has anyone here taken the plunge, played the game, got any impressions? Has anyone even seen a review of the console edition? It's currently £45-50 depending on version and digital only so I'd like more info before spending the cash.

Huh, thanks for the heads up as I’ll keep an eye out for this on sale. It would be good to know how the console version holds up though.

There's a smallish channel that started a PS5 playthrough on Youtube - PraetorianHiJynx - I've just started watching, it looks fairly solid so far but early game 4x performance always is... but aside from this and a 5 minute dev/Aspyr launch announcement it's awfully quiet out there.

@Marquez I saw it had dropped but it’s also kinda expensive so I’m wary. Me and my younger brother play loads of Civ so spending that much on a Civ clone is definitely a risk.

@nessisonett I've got every single bit of Civ VI content on my Mac, my Switch and most recently my PS5 so yes, it's a risk in that regard - I'm going to hold off for now.

@Marquez I am a fan of PraetorianHiJynx channel as well. Their coop let's plays are quite fun to watch. They Also put Humankind on my radar. I'll be waiting for a sale as bg3 will fill the rest of my year most likely.

@Elodin I started BG3 at the weekend and it’s definitely going to fill many weeks to come!
