@kyleforrester87 there's more to it than that Kyle. Many people have played the game of life with the rules set for them. School, University, Armed Forces, Career, no trouble, paid wages, supported the economy etc etc... Working picking fruit in a farmers field getting paid on the never never.

I've had to restart my life once before at the onset of the credit crunch, it's a hard ladder to climb bro. Those first rungs being the ones littered with grease, nails and likely to break.

Would I do it? Of course, I have a family to support. But If it did come to that I'm going into politics.

@kyleforrester87 My job is safe, I can go back tomorrow given the signal.

It's been a hack job dealing with it. The airports never closed and the government are more hung up on getting 100k tests for a soundbite than the out of control death rate down - which is out of control in care homes! The most vulnerable people.

@Rudy_Manchego it is an issue. Not every job will be saved, but we are not even close to having any closure on this first wave in my opinion. If you LockDown you have to see it through to a fair point , then get back up and running as quickly as possible. the original sage plans prior to the 23rd were for 7-12 weeks lockdown. The result even though we have done BADLY is the lower 7 weeks if we go back in Monday. Makes no sense, so much for following the science. Spain had a harsh LockDown, they have proven to be correct compared to the UK, 5000 lives saved in all scenarios with a much lower transmission rate when they released LockDown.

Also more importantly China has next to no cases nowadays. A proper LockDown works whichever way its dressed up. We are coming out too early.

@kyleforrester87 I will be the judge then. They have done really badly lol.

As you can tell I'm sat at home going stir crazy. Need to stop watching little mermaid.

@themcnoisy on second thoughts I do agree the world appears to have done little to prepare for this kind of event, so in that respect.. yeah, major ball droppage. But that does extend to massive potential issues like climate change too, where society really doesn’t seem to care so governments simply don’t prioritise it.

@themcnoisy as for going stir crazy, I can imagine. I’ve felt so much better getting back to the office this week. I know it might not be allowed but it’s an hour commute round trip and I’m not in contact with anyone when I get there so I figure it’s ok to count it as my exercise 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, I'm constantly disappointed in how society as a whole seems to be so disinterested in the problems presented by climate change. A lot of research suggests that that in fact made this sort of pandemic much more likely to happen.

But as usual that little bit of information is ignored as it's an inconvenient truth. And on we continue wrecking the planet for future generations and all the wildlife in the world but no worries, at least money is being made.

@themcnoisy I must say, coming out too early has never been an issue for me before. As my kids existence proves...

I had expected a shutdown till early June and I am surprised but to be honest, it feels like lives have never really been a priority. Apparently the strategy was sending people from hospital back to care homes without testing first.

Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot

@Rudy_Manchego Gobsmacked when I heard about the care home stuff. It's insane to think that was the proper strategy.

I thought it would be early May initially (once LockDown was announced). The virus hasn't been as debilitating as first thought. Although with our statistics I still don't think we should be rushing out to work, it is going to happen.

Thursday - Brief on Social distancing
Sunday - Brief on LockDown ending

Ho hum, we are all still here.

@LieutenantFatman Try and sell the masses environmental protective policies when the world leaders are all loaded with oil. Not going to happen. Although I agree and am much more conscious of the effect we must all be having now. The weather has been glorious for weeks at a time.

Today one of my neighbours had a full blown party covered in Union Jacks and bunting in their back garden with about 20 people. Those of you familiar with the... situation in Glasgow would recognise why this might have incited a full scale brawl in my street. Meanwhile I just sat eating sausages and mashed potato as the police pulled up, recognising that if I end up getting Coronavirus from Fortnite: Sectarian Edition, I might not live to see Celtic go 10 in a row. Play the long game people.

Morning to all the UK folks out there. To reiterate our PM's message.

1) Go to work today, regardless of planning unless you can't. Then don't. But do try. But don't.
2) You can go outside more than once. But try not to. If you need exercise, do sport. Only with your own family, who are probably terrible at it, but try not to go outside for sport.
3) Go back to work today unless you use public transport then don't unless you have to, in which case it will be socially distanced and you might not get on, but don't try unless you need to get to work then do try.
4) Kids will go back to school at some point, but not all of them, unless they need to do exams next year or are 5 in which case they will but possibly not.
5) If we do or do not follow all of the above we may or may not and possibly won't be able to go to Greggs in the near future
6) Don't go to Greggs

I don't think I missed anything?

Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot

@Rudy_Manchego You lost me at point 6 I’m afraid (although I live in the south west where there are much better places to pick up a pasty).

Thrillho

Rudy_Manchego

@Thrillho Ah in which case you can go to Greggs as long as you socially distance from said pasty. If you can't keep two metres from the pasty then you should stay alert and leave to air for at least 2 days.

@Rudy_Manchego I will wrap the pasty in a latex glove and eat it like that. Better safe than sorry.

@kyleforrester87 My MD and me had the same conversation. I think overall the message is fine, that this is phased return that will be monitored but there was some seriously confusing messaging. Why he said from tomorrow seemed weird and I've been inundated with people at work asking me what that means for them etc. and had a few people who have had different responses from their work on what they should and shouldn't be doing.

What I think would have been more sensible is to date it next week and then publish list of businesses that could be returning if necessary, stricter guidelines on what we are all doing and also how the lack of a UK initiative could work - I'm glad I don't live on the border with Wales and have to travel as that could get confusing!

@Rudy_Manchego yeah I hear you, but I still dunno. How anyone would expect it to be business as usual 12 hours afterwards is beyond me. But people are keen to get back and know what’s going on, I don’t think there’s any need in kicking the can down the road another week if it is viable for a company to reopen safely today.

Just seems like people want to be mothered a little!
