@mookysam Thanks! I was really excited to finally receive my copy.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that! Stray off the path a bit and a big, blinking warning sign appears. :/
I love FF7, though, and this game is so wonderfully conceived. I'm biased. It'd take quite a lot to become disenchanted with it.
Agreed on the character designs and the detail. It's a perfect mix of realistic and stylized. Hard to describe, but they retain the essence of the characters instead of looking like cosplayers or something. Looking at Cloud's design from the reveal trailer, I'm glad S-E scrapped that version of the game and went with this.
@nessisonett Right. But I thought there was a way to parry at the right time and automatically transition into Punisher mode.
I'll research it after I finish the game on Normal mode, I guess. I already accidentally learned one substantial spoiler about this version and am terrified of googling it and learning more.
Cloud and Sephiroth's lips are comically enticing...this game is seriously sexually charged and not shy about it! I find it hysterical, I had to laugh out loud a couple of times.
Oh good, it's not just me! That bit with Cloud and Sephie after the reactor made my inner fujoshi peek out of the hidey hole they've been living under since my emotionally tumultuous teenage years ended.
@Ralizah No but there's a move later that hits an enemy and changes stance at the same time. Maybe you're thinking of that.
Different note but I love how the characters awkwardly dance when they're next to a jukebox. And it's so cool how this is how in-game graphics look now.
@Matroska Must be. Thanks. I'll quit worrying about it, then.
I remember watching Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within when that first came out and being utterly blown away by the visuals. I think I would have died back then if you told me I'd be playing a version of FF7 in 2020 that looks substantially more impressive than that film.
Currently Playing: Fields of Mistria (PC); Cookie Clicker (PC); Metaphor: ReFantazio (PC); Overboard! (PC)
I beat Air Buster last night and found it not too difficult. Having thunder on everyone helped, especially having it linked to elemental attack on Tifa.
Combat really does favour constantly flitting between characters though as it is all about getting the ATB gauge up and it fills so slowly when the AI control them.
I’ve also yet to see any of the summons beyond Chocobo Chick seeing as he has a thunder elemental attack which has been most useful so far.
@Thrillho See what I mean about having duplicates of the same spell? You will need to mix that up a bit later though. Access comes in handy in scanning enemies and finding their weaknesses. But as a general rule beasts are weak to ice, humans are weak to fire, machines are weak to thunder and flying enemies are weak to wind. There are expections to that though.
@Thrillho having First Strike Materia on each character helps, when fully leveled up it allows a character to start a battle with at least one ATB gauge already filled
as for summons, one you get during the game as part of the story, one is a pick up from a area (but the game will let you know it's there) and the others are gotten by completing Chadley's tasks
"I pity you. You just don't get it at all...there's not a thing I don't cherish!"
"Now! This is it! Now is the time to choose! Die and be free of pain or live and fight your sorrow! Now is the time to shape your stories! Your fate is in your hands!
@FullbringIchigo Oh yeah, I have the first two (and have done more of Chadley’s objectives but haven’t seen the guy for ages). It’s just the chance to use them doesn’t come up very often and the elemental effects of the other two I have aren’t as useful against the big bad robots.
@Ralizah Yep, the characters look amazing and are modern while still evoking memories of the original PS1 designs. Cloud's hair and overall look is much nicer than the original Remake design (his hair in the 2015 PlayStation Experience trailer was a bit too David Bowie in Labyrinth). Twenty years ago the thought of games looking this good would have blown my mind, yet here we are - and Kingdom Hearts is finally Toy Story quality!
Perhaps Cloud comes over a bit Clint Eastwood in the later chapters @nessisonett. Spaghetti Western FF7 FTW.
for anyone who was wondering DYKG did a video on FFVII Remake, i watched it and there are no spoilers so don't worry

@Thrillho The summon metre seems to have an extra chance to show up when your party is in critical condition, and also when you stagger a tougher enemy.
@ApostateMage It reminded me a lot of that annoying missile section from Bayo 1 mixed with some gummi ship from Kingdom Hearts. I wasn’t hugely enamoured with that section but I’ve never been a fan of that sort of gameplay.
@Feena Hahaha, the Bayo stages were really stupid and fun but I just don’t like the general on-rails feeling. I was hugely into KH for years but 3 definitely killed that for me. Plus it got too complicated for its own good and relied on mobile games to tell its story. I think that’s why I’m a bit annoyed by some of KH’s worse aspects creeping through in the FF7 remake, as an ex-superfan I only just kicked it out my system and recognise the many faults of Nomura and his direction.
I'm at the Wall Market, the journey to get there has been my least favourite of the game so far. I was so glad to reach it. Also, whenever I hear an NPC say Wall Market, I hear Wal-Mart every single time. But it is definitely my favourite area of the game so far.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
