I have never, ever managed to 100% Final Fantasy X-2. I've played it like seven times. Maybe even more. Back in the day on PS2 I did it but I always messed it up somewhere along the line. Then I got it on PS3 and after I got the platinum in X I thought I'd do X-2 and exactly the same thing happened. Kept messing it up and eventually just gave up.
Oh boy... I didn't realise they were FF IX moogles @kyleforrester87
The normal/typical Moogle design just seems rather alien to me and what games I've seen them in, with the afforementioned design, I don't feel they cohesively fit whatever world they're plonked in compared to say a Chocobo.
I admitedly haven't played VI (for long) or IX where they seem to be more prominent but in III for example you have Dwarves and Gnomes alongside Humans, and of course monsters, and then you also have Moogles? Talking little podgy little cat bear things with bat wings?
I think they appear in IV as well and I can't recall that game having anything other humans and monstersl
Whereas in XII you have the Bangaas, the Seeqs, the Viera and a bunch of other different and rather varied races.
PLUS there's the whole redesign aspect and the moogles look like an actual living breathing creature that could actually exist in Ivalice and not a weird looking plush toy brought to life.
I dunno... Maybe I'm just dumb and talking out my arse as I'm not a designer or anything 😅

I'm liking the job system and the flexibility that comes with it. I started Vaan of as a Red Battlemage, wasn't feeling it so switched to Shikari. Makes me less nervous about picking the wrong one and more willing to experiment a bit.

So I'm about 40 hours in FFXII and about to head off to Archades. Some minor grumbles - the combat can be quite dull against easier foes, so thank god for the option to speed up the gameplay at the push of a button.
Most of the side quests seem to be of the standard fetch kind, which I don't have a massive problem with but they are not marked on the map, so I usually end up wandering round the wrong area then resorting to a guide to point me in the right direction.
The hunts are really good, but some of them can a bit random. Going to the Giza plains in the rainy season and chopping down to trees so you can reach a hidden areas is all well and good, but when the monster you are hunting doesn't spawn even when you have met the conditions, its bloody infuriating. I must have gone back that area a dozen times and still now show. Grrrrr. One to try a bit later me thinks.

@nessisonett It finally spawned after another half dozen or times of entering and exiting the area. Defeated it first time too! Just chucked a load of negative status effects at it, like Blind, Silence, Immobilise, etc and piled into it. For some reason I had a Regen Gambit setup casting on it, which made it a lot tougher than it needed to be! 🤣

I'm at the end game of Ffxii! The last dungeon at Pharos was a bit of a drag I have to admit. Most of others I've been OK with as they were just the right length but that one went on too long for my liking.
Still got quite a few hunts to do though, which I aim to try an do em all. I've only struggled with one early on as I was comically under powered, but I see that some of the later ones can be super difficult.

I found Final Fantasy XII too grindy and in the end I had to take a break. Haven't gone back to it but instead I found myself playing World of Final Fantasy. I loved the idea of capturing monsters to use as allies in Battle, Carbuncle is my favourite one not to mention he's so damn cute.
I've been in a week long gaming rut since finishing Oddworld: New 'N' Tasty (And was in a week long rut whilst I was away before gaining the desire to truly finish Cyberpunk and had started Abe afterwards for some actual enjoyment)
I ended up playing some of FFXIV: A Realm Reborn yesterday with the free trial it has... Never played an MMO before in my life so it was a bit of a strange and very new experience. The controller layout for all the different functions really took some getting used to.
I made a... Uhh... The orc looking race and chose the marauder class for now? I think I can switch classes whenever I like but I might just make a different character of a different race to try another class and see which gels with me the most.
I enjoyed my time with it so far... I haven't really done much in it besides get a bit overwhelmed and lost in the main city though
I beat Chaos, one of the summon Espers last night. Definitely one of the most challenging fights in the game so, especially as you can't attack using weapons, only using magic, techniks and the like. Found the techniks Shades of Black and Telekinesis very handy here. Took me about 45 mins and my whole party was almost gone with low MP.... and then the game crashed! So yeah that is all that progress gone plus I beat Deathstalker just before too. 😭
So I beat Deasthstalker again, and made a point of going down a level in the dungeon so the game auto saves, as there is no save crystal in this dungeon. Just off to battle Chaos AGAIN lol. Shouldn't take as long this time as I know what to expect and what to do this time.

Oh you're at the end of FFXII now huh @JohnnyShoulder? I think I remember that fight against Chaos... Real shame about the game crashing on you just after that fight and having to do it all again. You seem to be enjoying it a fair bit though huh?
I think the furthest I got into the Espers (back when I played the PS2 version game) was against the Esper Ultima(?) in the Giant Crystal that was an awful pain to fight with the conditions changing every 30 seconds if I remember correctly!
@Voltan
Is that one supposed to be one of those MMO FF games? If so count me out. I wish they wouldn't have had main series games be MMO's. That kinda style would have been better as a spin off. I Never cared for games that require you be online all the time.
Yeah I'm at the endgame now @Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy. I beat Chaos in about 15 mins this time round! 🤣 Once I got rid of those annoying elemental buffing him, it was a piece of pish. Especially as I had a Dispell gambit on the first time round, so my MP got used up really quickly.
Still got a fair ways to go yet as as I've obtained 8 Espers so far and got about that many hunts to go. Once I've done that, I will do the last mission. I've not had a great times with most JRPGs I've played this gen so far, but yeah I have really enjoyed it.
Hope you enjoy your time with XIV. There was a really nice pull out guide with a recent issue of OPM, so will definitely give it go myself at some point. Although not for awhile as I've been over 100 hours on XII, so will need a break from the series.

I think the final hunt in FF XII involves THE superboss which has like 30 million hp and multiple health bars (I actually bought the guide for FFXII because of how much hidden stuff there was (and still have it somewhere)) so hats off to you if ya get that far. I tried Omega Weapon back in the day and swiftly gave up... Never got the final esper either 😅
Thanks! Hopefully I get into FFXIV... I've enjoyed my limited time with it so far though. Should be even nicer for yourself on a PS5!
I've heard things get slightly ridiculous late late in the game @Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy! That Giant Crystal maze was tricky the first time, and having glanced at the full map online, I am a wee bit less enthusiastic about going back.
