Just proves my point that someone was high at Nintendo to even suggest making console paraphernalias out of recycled McDonalds Happy Meal boxes.

I think it's a cool idea and I can definitely see it proving popular among families. Much like Kyle, though, I'm far too joyless to bother with something like this.
Nintendo starting to pump out the dlc (dodgy licensed cardboard).
Ive watched the trailer twice. First of all I was like great idea, cheap and can be used in a myriad of ways - accelerator peddles instantly grabbed my attention.
Then I watched it a second time and realised these things are gonna break easily. Accidental rips off the mother cardboard will happen all of the time (I have experience with cardboard games you extract from kids annuals and the backs of advent calenders etc), pressing too hard or yanking at something will pull the systems apart, cardboard can be durable but not in the capacity for that backpack or little dog. Then I watched the accelerator peddle and my foot would stamp on that in seconds.
But if they are cheap enough, they could sell loads. Its actually adorable the direction switch is going but Im also left wondering why Nintendo have decided against plastic versions of these accessories?

@themcnoisy The plastic accessories will come in time. Their first plan is to reuse all the Wii U boxes, their second plan is to recycle all the unsold Wii U units themselves.
The Switch almost went a year, without Nintendo being Nintendo again.
In all honesty though, whilst on paper (or cardboard?) this does seem like a fun idea, the market has moved on.
The kids that used to spent hours with their Legos can now be found pumping energy drinks & playing GTA, Fortnite, CoD... .
Imo it actually cheapens The Switch a little bit. You have this pristine handheld & now you want to put cardboard around it?
Anyways not for me.

@kyleforrester87 You could laser cut the designs out of wood if you wanted to. I mean, wood lasts a lot longer than cardboard. Or could could just straight up 3D print them in plastic. Those options are not available for everyone, but I'm sure people will start selling them online if this is even remotely successful.
@kyleforrester87 Depends on how it is constructed I guess. I sometimes make cardboard models before I do woodworking, and it can be pretty sturdy. The issue with cardboard is that as soon as it bends somewhere you don't want it to bend, it loses most of its strength.
Either way, it's a neat novelty, and I'm sure people will love it. But it's a bit like VR too me. A bit too pricey, and most of the games look more like tech demos than actual games. I'm sure I'll love it for a couple of hours, just to try it out, but I cannot see myself playing with it on a daily basis.
@johncalmc Not necessarily true and Ill explain why.
@Fight_Teza_Fight Ye they did almost go a year with the Switch being what it is.
It still is that device though. Bayometta 3 still exists. Metroid Prime 4. Dark Souls. Other games are still coming. There are going to be plenty of core gamer ads and games just as always.
The system hasnt suddenly changed because of a peripheral aimed at "not the core gamer". Take PlayLink, is that aimed at the core gamer? Does it dilute what PS4 is? What about VR? Does that dilute what the PS4s core message, audience and games are, or does it supplement it with something new, for a different market.
This is why they anmounced it as "For kids". Its for a market outside of the core gamer.
But it isnt all the system is. First and foremost it is what we saw in the Mini Direct, but for none gamers it has a side appeal as this kind of device.
A device that lets you build these things, see how they work, it even shows some basic programming.
So no, this isnt negatively impacting the Switch. This impacts it in the same way 1-2 Switch did, or PlayLink on PS4. Its just something else the system can do for a market outside the core demographic.
And remember, just because it isnt for you, because as they said it wont be for most of us, they made that abundantly clear beforehand, doesnt mwan its not a good idea for the intended crowd.

@YummyHappyPills "Bayometta 3 still exists. Metroid Prime 4. Dark Souls"
None of those exist on Switch.
"The system hasnt suddenly changed because of a peripheral"
It has. Switch is dead to me now. Silly kids toy ; )
Just joking. Hoping to see you kick off again! The concept looks interesting and agree it takes nothing away from what the Switch currently is. That being said, I cant see Labo being successful at that price.
