Topic: Opinions on the (probable) leaked Nintendo NX controller image?

Positives, it looks comfortable, and it's much smaller then the Wii U's gamepad.......Negatives, lack of tactile buttons (well, for most of them at least). I think Nintendo may be heading a bit far in left field again, but I don't want to judge too harshly. Image looks credible, no signs of altering and it matches up perfectly with that leaked Nintendo patent from a couple of months back.

IF that ends up being the controller it's strike 1 against the NX for me. Stuff like this is why I've drifted away from Nintendo. I appreciate that the company has its own unique style and games like Mario platformers, Zelda and Smash are still among the best out there. But sometimes, in regards to hardware designs, less is more.

Yes, the Nintendo forums are ablaze right now with denial and hate on the design. We will see if it's real or not, but yeah, unfortunately it may be a bit too radical for its own good.

If only Sony could design the hardware and Nintendo the software.

Yeah if it could happen without Sony and Nintendo monopolizing the market and leading to $850 consoles I'd be all for that. inFamous, GTA, Mortal Kombat, The Witcher, whatever Naughty Dog makes, Gran Turismo, MLB The Show, Gravity Rush, Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Smash, Kart, Donkey Kong, Deus Ex, Tomb Raider and God of War on the same console? That is one dream I'd love to see become reailty but it simply isn't feasible.

A lot of people are probably thinking that way. The final product might be close to that design but even if the console is a late-2016 release there's time for Nintendo to hopefully make some subtle changes to make the controller different but still appealing.

Pretty sure this is fake. Just like most of the other rumours. Nintendo has always had questionable hardware, but this controller is just ridiculous.

I hope it is a fake.... it must be, this is the gamepad squared in term of gimmicky.... no real front buttons? Are you serious?
I cannot stand mobile games because of the lack of physical buttons, so if this is true, WiiU will be my last Nintendo console.

It could be a fake, but this is Nintendo we are talking about! The guys behind the Wii fit board, the vitality sensor, Wiimotes, and the largest controller to be package with a console, the gamepad. I'm just saying.....

The Wii U Pro Controller is a fine piece of kit though, despite needing some small tweaks,.....I would reckon you would have to recharge the Dual Shock 4 about five times before you even had to think about the same with the pro controller.

It looks terrible. Who knows what they will do with the controller they never stick to the industry type standard. They went from small with the Wii fits in your hand perfectly. Then the Wii U which was massive. Give anyone a few days or weeks and they can create anything. If you search PS4 on google images you still come up with a massive array of different design for the PS4. is the NX coming out this year?

At this point it seems highly likely that the NX, or at least it's console iteration, will come out during the fall of this year. The signs of the Wii U downturn are very obvious.......but I could see the 3DS soldier on for another year or year and a half.

@sub12: Do you think so? I still think it could make this year. Xbox One wasn't announced until May and came out in November, for example. It's still possible.

I think it's pretty probable that the console iteration of the NX comes out this year (if they happen to be separated)....Wii U sales are absolutely dismal, not only in west, but also in Japan as well. The 3DS family is still selling decent and new intiatives like the SNES / DS virtual console titles coming to the New 3DS makes me believe it still has a bit of time.

Fake or not, I hope that Nintendo see the feedback on this design. Regardless if it's real or not, the comments here and elsewhere should be Nintendo's guiding light. I don't understand their mindset. Would of thought it would be easy.
1. Most powerful console
2. Traditional controller
3. Media apps like youtube, Netflix, facebook integration etc...
4. Trophies/Acheivements....
Wait a mo....just make a more powerful playstation 4!
