Ashlee Simpson is underrated. I'll put that out there.

@TripleGK: Any reason for picking US? I suppose if you were to choose an Asian country it would be cheaper for you.

There must be some metal/rock fans here right? If so Giraffe Tongue Orchestra mixes Alice In Chains, Mastodon, Mars Volta and Dillinger Escape Plan and one of its singles is awesome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtJbgV3pGkI

Hey all, bringing you the idea I posted on a separate thread https://goo.gl/WDj60j, I have read about your passion for music and I know that lots of people like to curate their own playlists, and some are themed, some are not, but all of them have something very personal, stories, phases, whatever it may be - music tells stories that sometimes words and pictures can't.

I would like to propose we exchange those, and the story surrounding them. Curious to see what you guys are listening to.

Also, the Spotify playlist subreddit got that amazing summarize tool that looks up your playlist suggests bands within the same genre and defines which are the most common genres within the playlist. Pretty neat, did not know that!

Anyone else heard the new Korn album? This thread needs some attention one way or another...

If I could recommend one artist I've always liked, it'd be Proem. Maybe give some of his stuff a listen if you have time. It's not exclusively what I'm into by any means but it's up there with Boards of Canada as my favorite electronic music.

Few tracks:

And a cool mix if you like:

Would kill to see this guy live.

I used to dj a lot when I was a bit younger so my taste is quite eclectic. I started out spinning Reggae, Dub and Jungle/D'n'B with the occasional funk and hip-hop crossovers.
In time I became more involved in electronics and the Belgian underground clubbing scene (think Acid/ Techno / Tech-house / Rave / Breaks / Psychedelic Trance). I still have my vinyl collection and it's one of my most valuable possessions.

Today I'm into all kinds of music and when I really like something I try to get it on wax. I'll throw in two tracks I deeply love.

Bonobo - Kong

Flying Lotus - Zodiac ****

@kyleforrester87 Boards Of Canada forever! I like what I hear from Proem so I will check some other releases.

@JJ-Firl like any Jon Hopkins? Off to see him later this year. Pretty excited, used to listen to him tons earlier this decade and all his albums are good.

I just got the trial for Apple Music. I like it so far. I’vr downalowd some pretty good albums. Ive listened to 1 1/2 of Logic’s albums. I really liked the (edited V.) of Under Pressure.
I also listened the Babymetal’s second album: Metal Resistance. I didn’t like it as much as the first one. It lacked the quirkyness the first one had and sounded more like normal metal. It wasn’t playful like the first, so less just plain cute moments, which is part of the reason I liked the first one so much. Less unique. It was still good, but harder than the first to enjoy without understanding the lyrics.

@kyleforrester87 I do! Always felt he has a fresh (and crispy, if that makes sense) sound. I’m sure his live sets are ace.

@Kidfried Amon Tobin live must have been amazing. I have never seen him play but a few years ago I saw SquarePusher, which was on my list for quite a while too and it was top notch.

@JJ-Firl yeah it's pretty easy and uncomplicated listening. Good entry point into electronic music I'd say. He's been a producer for some pretty commercial bands like Coldplay so it's not too surprising I guess. But still he's got something special going on.

@JJ-Firl Speaking of Square Pusher I saw him amongst others in 2009 in an underground car park, it was the best night out of my life. I actually stopped going out very much from that point onwards as everything was boring in comparison haha. Then I got a bit older.

I'd say Allan Holdsworth and the first and third Aristocrats albums are worth checking out, they are examples of the rockier side of jazz fusion. Metal Fatigue is probably a good place to start regarding Holdsworth, the guitar solo in Devil Take The Hindmost is just unbelievable.

@Kidfried Sorry just got to this. Glad you like him! I've not heard any of this Kaitlyn, at least not intentionally. Just cued some up on Spotify for tomorrow though so will have a listen and let you know!

I can (and have earlier) recommended Proem, I always end up going back to him. A lot of these experimental artists can be a bit hard to get into (Autechre, Clark, Square Pusher etc), you have to almost clear your schedule and listen for 45 minutes to get your head in the right gear, but Proems tunes always have such awesome melodies, it's easy to drop into.

Trentmoller is pretty good too. Just for kicks.
