Far too many to count. It seems like every time I try to beat a game, I don't. Steins;Gate Elite is the latest victim. Funny thing is the same thing happened to me for the original a few years ago. Sometimes I wish I was younger and had more free time on my hands.

@Arugula From what I’ve read, Immortals is a bit different from the usual Ubisoft/Assassin’s Creed output. I actually am excited to play it. I only played Breath of the Wild a couple times on a friend’s Switch, and so I don’t have enough experience to say one way or the other whether I like the set up.
Is it just the openness with lack of concrete objectives that’s a turn off for you? Or was it the more cartoonish art style, or the unique traversal and climbing skill progression, or the overall mood and tone, or poor story, or something else entirely? I’m curious because I was excited about the game and it’s kind of fallen off the map pretty quickly. And did you play on PS4 or PS5? Just wondering if performance was also an issue.

@Arugula Thanks, that’s really helpful. Yeah, the game’s price has dropped quickly and I’ll give it a try eventually since it’s not a huge investment. Depending on my PS5 situation I thought it might be a good one to try there when the time comes since there are only a handful of games with free PS5 upgrades that I’m interested in. But yeah, I’ve not heard of performance issues on PS4 yet.
I am ready for the whole open world / disjointed story aspect of it, as I figured this was going to be a problem. Also having watched the gameplay videos I knew that climbing mechanic might be a stickler. So it’s the samey repetition of the puzzles that worries me now the most. That doesn’t sound enticing.

I gave up on The Pathless because it drops you into the game without as much as a cookie and expects you to know what to do. After looking up what to do however, I've really gotten into the game.
On a good news front - I went back to my last entry in May 2020 and I had Hollow Knight as a game I abandoned, and now it is one of my favourite games ever and have completed it twice.
Latest game I abandoned was Super Hot: Mind Control Delete. I have put in a good few hours into this to finish the campaign and it is great but the difficulty ramped up and it got a bit repetetive. In single sessions I enjoy it but seems to have fallen by the wayside.
Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot
I have metal gear solid 5 day 1 edition, and buy it by pre-purchase, so i havent already finish it. I abandoned Horizon zero dawn, the gameplay is awesome but i think the game is a bit repetitive and the story and characters are really bad ( execept for aloy, she is great)
I've mentioned them before but Persona 5 and Divinty: Original Sin 2 always stick in my mind. I'm think that when I get to the point where my reactions fail me (might not be too far off actually as I'm feeling old as frikk) I might then get into turn-based action.
I abandoned Doom Eternal near the end only because Final Fantasy 7 Remake came out before I could finish it and I had to play that straight away Then came The Last Of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima and by the time I had time to go back to Doom again, I was pretty sure I was going to struggle, because the game is hard.
At this point I'll probably wait for the PS5 upgrade and start over then
I played the first level of Ace Combat 7 and all you seem to be doing is chasing distance squares in a circle and the firing a missle when you get close. Which I found so very, very dull. I've never really enjoyed these types of games before. Gets a fast, hard delete from me.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
Doom Eternal - I feel like I'm nearing the end, last time I played I got the crucible. I been playing on Nitemare so it's a little tough to get back in and finish on that difficulty.
NieR Automata - Couldn't find the next NPC I had to talk to
@JohnnyShoulder You’ve pretty much described my feelings towards Ace Combat. Although one of the ones on PS2 was good because you got a surprisingly decent story along with it done in a kinda hand-drawn style.
I believe you're talking about Ace Combat 4: Distant Thunder @nessisonett (Shattered Skies for our US friends). It's the only Ace Combat I've played & I really quite liked the story it told during the those hand drawn cutscenes of a kid caught in the middle of the war.
