Today I was spending time at a friend's house playing some Street Fighter when out of the blue (but not too much, I know him to be a Dead or Alive enthusiast) he asked me if I could assist him with some trophies in DOA XTREME 3: FORTUNE, helping him out with the Japanese in the mission descriptions...I agreed cause I like him well enough, though honestly I wasn't feeling that keen on seeing a bunch of girls running around almost naked, sensually eating strawberries and God knows what else.

One hour later I was hooked.
For some reason, I seem to enjoy dressing up these evidently mentally injured ladies in pretty costumes, wrapping gifts with the right kind of paper/ribbon combination for each of them, watching them bond over hilariously stupid"sports" (butt-fighting is my favourite) finding out their favourite drinks and lovely items of choice: these probably aren't the selling point of the game, I get it, but they scratch an itch so well! It's similar to the satisfaction I get from playing stuff like Everybody's golf where I care more about the mini games than the golfing, and it's just refreshing and relaxing.

I am now seriously considering buying the damn game from the Japanese PSStore...and I feel pretty embarrassed because I should know better and women objectification and stuff. Not to mention the game is actually BAD. The controls, the graphics, the music. But all those rainbow ice-creams, frilly watermelon-themed bikinis and stuffed animals have made their way into my mind.

Please, please share your gross gaming guilty pleasures with me so I can laugh it off and feel a little bit better.

Fallout 3/NV - if water is clean, with no radiation I always drink out of the toilet. Perfectly good sink right next to it, but I am compelled to slurp the bog. Don't know why.
They changed it in fallout 4. I also don't really know why I'm not as much of a fan of 4. I really hope these two things aren't linked....

After I got over my Smash addiction I gave my Wii to my sister. She loves the Just Dance games. Months & months will go by with it gathering dust, but every year, without fail, we'll buy & play the latest edition at Christmas with friends & family...

and no one gets more into it then me. Don't know what it is. May be it's my competitiveness, may be it's the cheesy songs, may be I like making a fool out of myself in front of an audience- I love it.

The only good thing that came from buying a Wii.

Hmm tough one. I mean, I'm not sure anyone should feel too ashamed of playing games, although fair dues on the DOA game... I can see the point there.

For me, I would say the Far Cry series is a bit of a guilty pleasure in a way. Not that anyone should feel ashamed, this is a blockbuster franchise. However, 3 and 4 are practically the exact same game. After Far Cry 4 for example, I was very vocal about being bored of the series and the whole formula and skipped primal but I am already looking at FC5 and going, hmmmm that does look quite good. Not sure why I like them so much really.

Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot

I guess my 'Guilty Pleasure' would probably be the Lego games. I particularly enjoy the movie based Lego games of the films I have watched - not just 'any' Lego games although the Batman and Marvel Heroes games are included even if they are not directly parodying a movie (or few).

At my age, I probably should know better but I do like the sense of humour, the parody and charm they have put into these games. I am more excited by Lego Marvel 2 coming out at the end of this year than a number of the big AAA games releasing but like I said, at my age, its very much a guilty pleasure...

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...

Harry Potter, more specifically Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets AND Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (I even enjoyed The Deathly Hallows part 2)

don't judge me to harshly

Hahaha I can see this happening and yes...as a gamer I'd feel guilty but I am not judging of course!

@KratosMD Knack was the butt of so many jokes that I didn't give it a try, I suspect I might like it...definitely up my alley.

@Rudy_Manchego I can sometime be slightly annoyed/ashamed of myself when I like something very mainstream. "Oh, I like Assassin's Creed now, perfect. In two months I'll be playing FIFA and just basically become a dude"

@Feena Ha ha - I know what you mean, I can literally feel my hard fought indie cred just draining for me as I headshot my way through another outpost in Far Cry.

Not necessarily "terribad," but...

Peggle. I LOVE this series to death. I'll play it on any available device. And... I'll be honest, when I was choosing whether to get a PS3 or a PS4 to play Persona 5, Peggle 2 was one of the games that pushed me over to the PS4 side. I prefer it on portable platforms, though. Peggle 3 for Nintendo Switch would be my dream game (yes, I'd rather have that than Metroid Prime 4 or Pokemon Switch).

Currently Playing: Fields of Mistria (PC); Cookie Clicker (PC); Metaphor: ReFantazio (PC); Overboard! (PC)

Ugh. Men.

@Ralizah oh wow, yes I can see that being definitely in guilty pleasure territory, at least for a "core gamer". I can totally see a Switch version doing extremely well, your gaming dream is not that far-fetched.

Dead Island. It's far from a great game but I found it stupid fun.

@Feena ' though honestly I wasn't feeling that keen on seeing a bunch of girls running around almost naked, sensually eating strawberries and God knows what else.'

Wimbledon! Lol.

My guilty pleasure isn't game related, it's watching Saturday night singing competitions. Pitch battle on BBC 1 is my latest guilty pleasure.

@FullbringIchigo Man, the Chamber of Secrets GBC game? That game was great and I don't even like HP.

For me? It's Idea Factory RPGs. IF are the most shoestring budget RPG makers around with awful combat, but the characters are fun and the music is great.

FullbringIchigo

@Cassetticons yeah it was good but i was on about the PS2/Gamecube/XBOX version, it's quite a fun little action adventure game

@Cassetticons I think I played a couple JRPGS by Compile Heart but never played an Idea Factory one.

I don't think they're bad games (or even terribad, for that matter), but I do enjoy a bit of Sword Art Online. The games can be really rough around the edges and I don't even like the franchise that much, but there's something nice and homey about playing them. I sit there thinking "wow I could be playing a better game than this", but at the same time, I enjoy them.

Closest thing I could think of for this topic anyway. I don't really play anything that isn't of a certain level of quality because I'm an absolute snob.

I'm too cool to like bad games. All the games I like are good games.

But @ZurapiiYohane reminded me that not everyone can appreciate Other M. I liked it.

Cassetticons

@Feena They've actually worked together on a number of franchises like Neptunia. Probably best to check wiki to get a full list but it's things like Trillion, Omega Quintet, shlockly RPGs like that.

@KratosMD I liked her lifeless monotone voice in Other M though

I'm going to replay Metroid Prime very soon, cause it's been a while, so I'm not sure what my top five list of Metroid games would look like, but Other M is probably up there. I liked it overall, and I was shocked to see the reaction on the internet. I'm we're now allowed to talk about the game without being ripped to shreds, and I've noticed I'm not the only person who liked Other M. Is it perfect? No, but it's still one of my favourite Wii games. And it's one of the best looking Wii games too.

And I too liked the combination of side scrolling and 3D. Brought back some Super Metroid memories. And now I'm left to wonder what a big budget third person Metroid would look like. I'm a bit bummed we're getting another Prime game (assuming it's first person), but it's better than nothing at least.
