Topic: What Was the First PSone Game You Played?

KB Toys in the local mall had a PS1 set up right around the time console had launched, first game I played was Twisted Metal 1. I was 12 at the time and that game definitely had a much different edge to it than what I was used to from Sega and Nintendo consoles and I had a blast driving around causing mayhem, eventhough I sucked. That game was easily surpassed by TM 2, Black and Head-on, but I'll always have fond memories of it since it was the game that introduced me to the world of PlayStation.

The first game I played on PS was Tekken 2 at a local Blockbuster Video.  The had the system set up and my brother and I went there to rent some SNES games when we saw Tekken 2 playing on the screen.  At first we didn't know what it was we just saw a guy in a cat suit (King) beating up on Bruce Lee (Law) and saw it was similar to Street Fighter II, one of our favorite games at the time.

We started to play it and at first were thrown off by the controls since they weren't like SF II at all.  Also the graphics threw us for a loop they were so blocky compared to SFII and oh yeah the moon jumping  lol.  We played it every weekend when we would go rent a game.

Funny thing was I didn't know what the game was till a few months later when my friend bought a PS and a few games and Tekken 2 was one of them.  Once I got to sit down and actually learn the game and figure out some moves it quickly became one of my favorite fighting game franchises to this day.

I still enjoy Tekken 2 alot to this day and it has held up somewhat (I think Tekken 3 has held up better but that's another story for another day) and I still play it every so often on my PS2.  In fact I enjoy it alot more then the newer Tekkens like 5 or 6.

As for the PS itself it really didn't impress me much untill I played it over at my friends house and tried a few more games.  The game that really won me over was Suikoden though being a huge JRPG fan at the time I fell in love with that game and had to get a PS for that game alone.  Then I heard that Final Fantasy VII was coming to the PS and not the N64 and that sealed the deal.

I have enjoyed Sony consoles since only skipping the PS3 cause at the time the price was too high but I am sure that one of these days I will pick one up and go back for some games kinda like I am doing with the Dreamcast now lol.

Others may knock the PS4 but I think its a solid system with some great games on it honestly I think people are just expecting too much from them in their first year but hey whatever they want to think.  I am really glad that I came back to the PS brand this gen and doing so just reminded me why I fell in love with the brand so many years ago.

Crash Bandicoot! It wasn't until I went back and replayed it as a teenager that I really began to see many of the flaws this game had (made even more apparent because that was around the time I first played Crash 2 and Warped), but I can still enjoy it. This game was also the first 3D platformer I ever played.

Crash Bash. It's kinda funny how much I'll sing the praises of Crash Bandicoot, name Crash 2 as my favorite game, yet the game that made me love the good ol' Orange Baron himself was the Crash party game that Naughty Dog didn't make. To be fair, I was 5 at the time and I didn't even that Crash was a platforming series. I ended up playing the PS1 Crashes in backwards order.

However, I did love Crash Bash, and sadly, I wound up losing it in my youth, and in 2007 I wound up finding it under a couch cushion, with a portion of the disc broken off. The tantrum I had that fateful day was astronomical.

My first PlayStation experience was in early 1996 at a local mall in a Circuit City Express all the way in the back of the small store was a display unit running Road & Track Presents The Need for Speed. This was months before I had enough money to bring one home I was 19 at the time.

Christmas 97, a red letter day for me as a gamer. A PS One waiting under the tree with 6 games which I remember to this day. Davis Cup Tennis (terrible) V-Rally (pretty good) Fifa 98: Road to world cup (Lost so much time to that) Onside a football game with mangerment mode (pretty redundant cos of Fifa, still I got to play as my darling Boro) Disney's Hercules (First PS One I finished, I was 11 then and I loved the film...shut up) but my first game was Fade To Black (the sequel to Flashback) was pretty awful, I remember it the game freezes for ten seconds to play the different game over screens. Hey maybe a day one patch was needed . A month or so later I got the first Crash and Tekken and the rest was history.

This is a hard question. It may have been Crash 1, which did not impress me at the time. Street Fighter Alpha 1 was another one that I played quite a lot before owning my PS1. I actually sold my N64 to get a PS1, then I worked at a videogame store so I was very familiar with PS and its games.

The game that I played the most (but not the first one) was Soul Edge. I had the Japanese version, not the US one as I was not a fan of the localization.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

Rayman was my first Sony PlayStation game. Maybe Demo one but I can`t remember!

I think it was Pac Man World. I'm not sure but I do know it was entertaining going on adventures on the game. The difficulty was insane to complete certain levels.

Mine was Final Fantasy VIII. Incidentally, it was the first Final Fantasy I played and completed and it was the one that hooked me in the series.
