How Do You Go Faster in Let It Slide in Astro Bot?

Let It Slide is a speedrun time trial level, in which your aim is to complete the stage as quickly as you can. With online leaderboards comparing your time to your friends and other players, you might be wondering how you can improve your time.

Fortunately, there are a couple of handy tips and tricks you can employ that should whittle down your time in Let It Slide. You'll need to practice, but you should be able to achieve a very competitive time with these techniques.

Big Skips with Elephant Power-Up

In Let It Slide, you have access to the elephant power-up, which allows you to spawn three platforms wherever you want (you can spawn more when you top up the elephant with liquid). At any point in mid-air, press R2 to generate an icy platform.

This is the key to getting through the level faster. You can skip past a lot of the main path by utilising this power-up. Here are some key points you can use platforms (in conjunction with extended jumps) to reach the goal in record time.

After going down the ice slide, instead of breaking the glass over the trampoline, head off to the right. Use Astro's hover and punch to extend his jump, then spawn a platform. Repeat this sequence again, and that should be just enough to get you across to the fragile ice platforms across the water.

From the icy ramp, again veer off to the right and you can use Astro's jump, punch, hover followed by one more mid-air platform to cut the corner, leading you to the last couple of platforms before the goal.

This will take a few attempts to get right, but as far as we know it's the fastest way to do it.

Astro's Extended Jump

Above, we've alluded to an extended jump you can perform with Astro. What we mean is prolonging Astro's air time by using more than just his regular jump.

As you'll know, Astro has a sort-of double jump when you hold down Cross/X after a jump. This activates his hover boots, boosting Astro's height and keeping him in the air much longer.

In addition, you can punch in mid-air, which also extends Astro's horizontal movement in the air. Performing all three manoeuvres can give you the maximum amount of reach, which is key to this level's optimal run.

The Seal

After collecting the liquid for your elephant power-up near the start of the level, you'll be able to see a seal in the water, with a shell on its head. This seal can help you skip past the first major obstacle, but it's super tricky.

Once you have the liquid, jump off the edge towards the seal, using Astro's extended jump but ending with the hover. The trick here is to land on top of the seal just as it reacts to being hit by Astro's lasers. If you get it just right, the seal will jerk its head upward. If you time it just right, you can use this movement as a sort of launcher by jumping just as it happens. This lets you reach the circular platform ahead without having to use one of your elephant's platforms.

This is super hard to get right, but with practice it's a faster way forward than traversing the regular level path.

In speedrun levels, you must reach the end goal before the red and blue birds do. If the birds reach the end of the stage, they will set off rockets with the Special Bots attached, meaning you can't collect them. Race the birds to the goal and beat them both to secure the Special Bots.

Bot #1: Helldiver 2

• This Bot is strapped to the red rocket at the end of the stage. Beat the red bird to unlock this Special Bot.

Bot #2: Eve

• This Bot is strapped to the blue rocket at the end of the stage. Beat the blue bird to unlock this Special Bot.
