Atomfall Guide: Essential Tips
To give you a better grasp of the type of game Atomfall is and how to have the best time in your opening hours, we have got a few hints and tips to share.
There's No Need to Preserve Ammo, Health, and Resources
While Rebellion has promoted Atomfall as an "action-survival" game, it doesn't really subscribe to the "survival" portion very much. You don't need to worry about any hunger, thirst, or sleep meters, and the resources you find are plentiful. You should never feel like you have to save any ammo, healing items, or resources for crafting because you'll always find a lot more elsewhere. Use them all as you please.
Look Out for Pneumatic Dispatch Tubes
One of the few survival-like restraints placed on you is a limited inventory. Besides simply discarding items you no longer need, one of the few other ways you can manage your inventory is Pneumatic Dispatch Tubes. These essentially function as a storage system, allowing you to place important things in them for safekeeping. Whatever you place in them will be available at all other Pneumatic Dispatch Tubes.
Make a Plan Before Combat Encounters
Before you start a fight with one of the factions in the game, make sure your weapons and items are correctly assigned to your D-Pad. This is because if you enter the inventory menu, the game isn't actually paused. The action will carry on around you while you're crafting items or selecting a different gun, meaning you could die. Therefore, make sure you're properly prepared before alerting enemies.
Training Stimulants Are How You Get Upgrades
Atomfall has a whole menu dedicated to character upgrades, but you won't be visiting it and unlocking enhancements anywhere near as often as a normal game. This is because you need to work for your upgrades, and even unlock the ability to purchase them in the first place.
Training Manuals unlock the ability to acquire an upgrade, and then you spend Training Stimulants to actually unlock them fully. Both are rare, so make sure you're on the lookout for them — especially in bunkers.
You'll Need Protection Against Radiation
We won't expand on this point too much due to story spoilers, but if you ever encounter a way of fashioning radiation resistance through the Leads system, we strongly recommend you follow it through and acquire the item or upgrade. It'll be beneficial later on.
That brings our Atomfall guide to a close; we hope our articles and guidance have been of some help to you. If you have any tips or information of your own to share, feel free to post them in the comments below.
