Wondering where to sell items in Baldur's Gate 3? Like any good RPG, you're sure to be laden down with valuable loot before you know it, and at least during the game's opening hours, seemingly nowhere to offload it. On this page, as part of our Baldur's Gate 3 guide, we'll point you in the direction of the first available settlement in the game.
Baldur's Gate 3: Where to Sell Items
After the Prologue, players begin Chapter 1 in the wilds of the Sword Coast, dazed and alone. While you're encouraged to explore this massive region at your leisure, there's a particular location we'd recommend you make a beeline towards in order to avail yourself of some creature comforts: Emerald Grove.
While each character can carry a surprising amount of gear, it won't be long before they'll be weighed down by all the spoils of war and the rewards from questing. Selling this gear is the time-honoured driving force behind most economies in RPGs, and so the same is true with BG3. In Emerald Grove, you'll gain access to a wide variety of merchants that will serve as the perfect base for further exploration.
It's not far from where you start Chapter 1, but it's very easy to get sidetracked along the way (like Elden Ring, there are no on-screen map markers to follow in Baldur's Gate 3). In the image below, at the very bottom centre, the star indicates where the player begins the game (click to enlarge). Essentially, you just want to keep heading north until you reach Emerald Grove. You'll know it when you find it; besieged by a goblin warband, you'll need to dispatch them all before you can enter. Once inside, you'll find a variety of vendors and your new home for the opening hours of the game.
