How do you unlock Hard Mode in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth? How does Hard Mode work in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth? A lot like Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the RPG has a Hard Mode, but you have to unlock it and it's not available for your first playthrough. As such, you're probably wondering how you access it. As part of our Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth guide, we're going to reveal how to unlock Hard Mode and how it works.
How Do You Unlock Hard Mode in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?
The Hard Mode in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth unlocks after you beat the game for the first time. For your first playthrough, you'll be able to choose from the following difficulty settings: Easy, Normal, and Dynamic. The Normal difficulty would be the best option for your initial playthrough of the story, as it's what the game's combat is based around, and you have the choice of dropping down to Easy if you find a particular battle too hard. Dynamic, meanwhile, scales enemy levels to your party's own rank, meaning returning to earlier areas will always present a challenge.
How Does Hard Mode Work in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?
The Hard Mode in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is essentially the game's stand-in for a New Game+ option. Instead of starting the game over, a Chapter Select unlocks upon completion, and you're able to reload your finished save into any Main Chapter and replay it, carrying over your completed Side Quest progression (any Side Quests you're in the middle of will be reset back to the start). When you do so, the Hard Mode will be available for selection. By replaying every Main Chapter on Hard Mode is how you'll unlock the Of Hardy Stock Trophy.
When playing on Hard Mode, you'll need to contend with the following adjustments compared to Normal difficulty:
- All levels, stats, weapons, and Materia carries over into your Hard Mode playthrough
- Increased enemy difficulty
- You cannot use any items
- Rest Stops only refill your HP, not your MP

Anyone know if the mp trick works on hard mode like it did on remake? (Find an mp shard, save and load, repeat until mp is restored) loving the game so far. Only on chapter 4, doing as many side quests and such as I can before cracking on with the story.
