Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Stuck in a Rut Walkthrough

Stuck in a Rut is a Side Quest in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth that can be started in Chapter 4. As part of our Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth guide, we're going to provide a Stuck in a Rut Walkthrough that covers all the stages of the Side Quest. It takes place in the Junon Region.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Stuck in a Rut Walkthrough

Upon reaching Under Junon and given the chance to explore the town, you can approach the Community Noticeboard and pick this Side Quest up.

The Ranch Owner's Request

To start the Side Quest properly, you need to leave Under Junon and head east to Gabe's Ranch.

Capture Belle

Gabe will tell you he needs resources you can only find at the top of a mountain, and a certain type of Chocobo is needed to climb it. You must now capture Belle in the same way you did Piko in the Grasslands. When you get to the destination, you'll need to use the lever to activate the cart so you can get past the first Chocobo unnoticed.

Pull the next lever and wait for the cart to reach the other end of the track near you. Now, crouch next to the cart and throw a rock at the lever to activate it and sneak alongside it. When it reaches the end of the track, move into the grass on your left and look ahead to spot another lever you can throw a rock at. This activates the next cart, which will be heading right. Follow it along until it reaches the corner at the far end of the area.

At this point, you need to quickly get on the other side so the Chocobo doesn't see you. Then, you can roll into the grass. Get back onto the other side of the cart and follow it behind Belle, and then you can tame her.

Head to the Wainwright's Hut

Now you have a Chocobo for the Junon Region, head east back to the path you took to enter this area. To the left of a yellow construction vehicle, you should notice a part of the cliff face with graffiti on it, depicting a Chocobo and arrows pointing upwards. Approach it and you'll be able to scale the side. Take a right when you can and follow the gravel path to a hut, where you'll find the Wainwright sleeping. When you're asked what to do, select "Wake him with magic".

Gather Materials for the Wainwright

You'll be given a map to help you locate the parts the Wainwright needs, with three crosses placed around the Junon Region. Looking at the red crosses from left to right, the places you need to search are the following:

Now you have all the materials needed, fast travel back to Wainwright's Hut and wake the man up again to hand over the parts.

Deliver the Carriage Parts

Head back to Gabe's Ranch and talk to him to deliver the parts to complete the Side Quest. Doing so unlocks fast travel via Chocobo Carriage, which allows you to return to previous regions — like the Grasslands — much faster.
