Hp up on all characters, give cloud his famous buster sword, that block materia (or deadly dodge!) Coupled with the hp return materia. Give aerith cure, coupled with the 'all' materia, so you can toggle healing on full party. Equip elements to your melee fighters/ barret with elemental materia to do extra damage or have extra resistance (varies between bosses and area), use aeriths ward ability for double spell casting, equip prayer to cloud so you can heal for no mp, and that is how you beat the game 😉

I like that. It doesn't really take more than a paragraph to beat this game.
@LordSteev beat it twice and once on hard. Never had to change my strategy, haha
