God of War Ragnarok: How to Beat Hrist & Mist

Hrist & Mist make for a troublesome duo, combining attack patterns and swapping places throughout the battle.

Fortunately, one of the Valkyries will almost always be focusing on Atreus, so you won't have to worry about fighting both of these warriors at the same time, all the time. Even more fortunate, Hrist & Mist share a health bar — although they do get a new one at the start of each phase in this fight.

One-on-one, Hrist & Mist aren't that hard to deal with. They have fairly standard attacks — their wing slashes can be blocked, and their projectiles can be dodged quite easily — but it's when the two start interchanging that the going can get tough. You'll have to try and keep both Valkyries in your field of vision whenever you can, as the duo can and will attempt to blindside you from time to time.

Parrying is one of the best ways to open them up to your own combos. They both have a leaping attack that can be deflected, along with a tag-team divebomb attack. The latter leaves them completely vulnerable if you manage to time the parry correctly.

Once you've taken care of the first health bar, the sisters will become a bit more dangerous. In this second phase, Atreus can be grabbed, and you'll need to rescue him. As such, it might be a good idea to try and stay close to your opponents.

That's easier said than done when your foes can fly, however. In this phase, Hrist & Mist can unleash far-reaching area of effect attacks by diving off the sides of the arena. Pay close attention to where these attacks will hit (indicated by the highlights on the ground) and dodge as best you can. If you get clipped here, you'll take some hefty damage.

In the final phase of the fight, Hrist & Mist will become a touch more aggressive, but in terms of attack patterns, nothing much changes. That said, you do have to be mindful of their defensive techniques. After they've used certain attacks, or even while you're using a combo, the Valkyries can assume a defensive pose by closing their wings. Keep recklessly attacking and they'll retaliate with a heavy strike. So, whenever you see the wings shut tight, use a shield smash to maintain your onslaught.
