What's the best items, gear, and equipment you should select when planning a mission in Hitman 3? Agent 47 may be a master assassin, but a workman is nothing without his tools, and the iconic skinhead relies on an inventory of murderous utensils in order to eliminate his targets. But what are the top items in the title, and which should be part of your loadout before you begin a level? As part of our Hitman 3 guide, we're going to round up Hitman 3's best items, gear, and equipment so you know exactly what to use.
Hitman 3: Best Items, Gear, and Equipment
Almost all of the items, gear, and equipment in Hitman 3 is useful, and your loadout is largely going to depend on your objectives, approach, and personal playstyle. However, here are some of our suggestions of the best items, gear, and equipment in the game. Keep in mind that this guide spans both Hitman 3 and all of its Legacy content.
Coin
Name | Type | How to Unlock |
---|---|---|
Coin | Distraction | Not Applicable: Available as a default tool when you start the game |
While it's one of the least extravagant items you'll find on this list, the humble Coin is unquestionably one of the most useful items in the Hitman series. Whether you need to get a person's attention to open a pathway when trespassing or simply need to switch your disguise, Coins are an effective method of attracting attention and getting NPCs into the position you want them to be so you can orchestrate your mission. It's worth noting, however, that if you know where to look you can often find Coins in every level, which means you don't always need to use a loadout slot on these if you're in need of other equipment.
ICA Briefcase
Name | Type | How to Unlock |
---|---|---|
ICA Briefcase | Container | Miami: Complete The Finish Line mission Dubai: Reach Mastery Level 7 overall |
The ICA Briefcase, or its various other permutations, effectively allows you to smuggle illegal items like sniper rifles into a location undetected. While you will need to carry it around with you, it also doubles as a non-lethal melee weapon that you can even throw at targets to pacify them. Once you're done using illegal items, such as the Sieger 300 Ghost, you can then pack it away in your briefcase completely undetected. It's extremely useful when you're attempting those all-important Sniper Assassin runs.
Kalmer 1 - Tranquilizer or Kalmer 2 - Tranquilizer
Name | Type | How to Unlock |
---|---|---|
Kalmer 1 - Tranquilizer or Kalmer 2 - Tranquilizer | Pistol | Whittleton Creek: Complete all three Mission Stories Mendoza: Reach Mastery Level 5 overall |
If you're looking for an easy way to quickly sedate targets so that you can quickly slip past them or maintain your Silent Assassin rating, then the Kalmer 1 - Tranquilizer or Kalmer 2 - Tranquilizer can be solid options. While you only get two shots and can only really use it in short-range scenarios, it's effective and saves you the hassle of having to sneak up close to pacify NPCs. It's completely non-lethal as well, although do keep in mind that you'll need to dump any bodies that you use the weapon on, as they will be discovered if you don't.
Krugermeier 2-2 or Krugermeier 2-2 Silver
Name | Type | How to Unlock |
---|---|---|
Krugermeier 2-2 or Krugermeier 2-2 Silver | Pistol | Bangkok: Reach Mastery Level 20 overall Mendoza: Reach Mastery Level 10 overall |
While some will prefer the ICA19 Silverballer for its high damage and iconic look, we recommend the Krugermeier 2-2 or Krugermeier 2-2 Silver as one of the best overall pistols. The reason for this is that it fires subsonic rounds that are practically silent, making it a great option for distractions. While most civilians and guards will hear the gunshots of most pistols, the Krugermeier 2-2 is so quiet that they'll generally only hear the impact, prompting them to investigate and giving you an opportunity to slip by. It's not particularly great at long distance and doesn't come with many shots, but if you're planning to play in stealth then this pistol will get the job done better than most others.
Lethal Poison Vial or Lethal Poison Pills
Name | Type | How to Unlock |
---|---|---|
Lethal Poison Vial or Lethal Poison Pills | Poison | Paris: Reach Mastery Level 15 overall Whittleton Creek: Reach Mastery Level 7 overall Berlin: Reach Mastery Level 10 overall |
The Lethal Poison Vial or Lethal Poison Pills have effectively the same use, and can be administered into food or drink for an easy Poison Elimination and Accidental Kill. Assuming you can slip either of these into your target's food or drink undiscovered, you'll retain your Silent Assassin rating, effectively making this a free hit that you can bring out into the field with you.
Lockpick
Name | Type | How to Unlock |
---|---|---|
Lockpick | Tool | ICA Facility: Complete all three Mission Stories Miami: Reach Mastery Level 7 overall Dartmoor: Reach Mastery Level 2 overall |
Much like the Coin, the Lockpick is likely to be a staple of your loadout, allowing you to easily infiltrate previously inaccessible areas. While you can get caught using these, the tool is silent and effective at getting you inside buildings as long as the coast is clear. You could also consider the ICA Titanium Crowbar, as this doubles as a non-lethal melee weapon.
Sieger 300 Ghost or Hackl Leviathan Sniper Rifle Convert
Name | Type | How to Unlock |
---|---|---|
Sieger 300 Ghost or Hackl Leviathan Sniper Rifle Convert | Sniper Rifle | Marrakesh: Complete all three levels in The Cheveyo Calibration Escalation contract Chongqing: Reach Mastery Level 20 overall |
Two of the best sniper rifles in the game, and effectively essential for Sniper Assassin challenges, the Sieger 300 Ghost or Hackl Leviathan Sniper Rifle Convert may lack a little in range and damage, but they're practically silent, allowing you to remain undercover even when firing from areas with nearby civilians and guards. It features four levels of zoom, reloads quickly, and even allows you to slow down time. You can bring it into the field with you by using a container like the ICA Briefcase, or you can choose to stash it somewhere in the level.
Sieker 1
Name | Type | How to Unlock |
---|---|---|
Sieker 1 | Pistol | Haven Island: Reach Mastery Level 10 overall |
While you can use items like the Emetic Rat Poison to poison the food or drink of your target, the Sieker 1 speeds up the process. It's a non-lethal dartgun that administers a dosage of emetic poison to anyone you desire. This will prompt the person you target to head to the nearest toilet in order to vomit, creating an easy opportunity for you to subdue them and steal their outfit or drown them if you so desire. You only get two shots so it's use is somewhat limited, but it's extremely effective at quickly isolating individual targets.
