In the Library of Hogwarts Castle, you can find a portrait upset about being kidnapped. Please note you need to upgrade Alohomora to Level 2 to complete this Side Quest. Refer to The Man Behind the Moons for more information. Once you have talked to Ferdinand the portrait, go to the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade and speak to Astoria to learn where his frame has gone.

To find his other frame, go to the Marunweem Ruins in the southern section of the world map. You'll meet Ferdinand there, in the underground ruins — this is where you need Alohomara at Level 2, to unlock the gate leading inside. Speak to Ferdinand in the portrait, then return to either the Three Broomsticks or take him to the Hog's Head Inn — it's your choice.

Portrait in a Pickle: Objectives

  • Speak to the portrait in the back of the library
  • Talk to Astoria Crickett at the Three Broomsticks
  • Find the ruins where Ferdinand's other frame is being held
  • Find and speak with Ferdinand in the ruins
  • Take Ferdinand's frame to the Three Broomsticks or the Hog's Head Inn
