Horizon Forbidden West: How to Get XP and Level Up Fast
There are many ways to get XP in Horizon Forbidden West. Nearly everything you do in the game will get you at least a small amount of experience points, and it all goes towards filling your player level bar in the top right-hand corner. You get some XP for killing machines and human enemies, but not very much. If you want to grind levels and get XP quickly, there are better ways to go about it. Here are the best ways to get XP.
Complete Quests
You get the most XP in Horizon Forbidden West from completing Main Quests, Side Quests, and Errands. These are the three major quest types, and they usually pack the biggest XP rewards. If you want to maximise Aloy's level and get XP fast, you'll want to play as many quests as possible. For more about the game's quests, see our guide: Horizon Forbidden West: All Quests.
Clear Rebel Camps
Rebel Camps are large enemy encampments you can infiltrate and take down. They may have unique objectives to complete, but the main thing is to find and kill the camp's leader. Rebel Camps award you with decent XP boosts.
Complete Relic Ruins, Tallnecks, and Cauldrons
These are other side objectives you'll find scattered all across the map in Horizon Forbidden West. Relic Ruins are environmental puzzles that each have a collectable Ornament at the end, and they offer good XP rewards as well. Tallnecks are a type of giraffe-like machine; they roam particular spots on the map, and clambering onto their heads will clear the fog from the map. They all give large XP bonuses. Cauldrons are dungeon-like areas you should get through if you want the ability to override all the machines in the game. They offer very large XP rewards.
