Nearly his entire move set is based around his spear, with upward, downward, and forward stab attacks forming the majority of your offensive techniques. Because of that, he's particularly good in close quarters, but his spear means he has a little bit of range too.

Generally speaking, you just want to be aggressive here, as the character doesn't have much going for him apart from his melee skills.
