You don't need to have a PS4 Pro in order to enjoy Spyro: Reignited Trilogy. It'll play perfectly well on the standard PS4 as well. However, if you want to see Spyro at his absolute best, the game does feature PS4 Pro support.

Just gonna download at some point if I do ever get it. Seems pointless to get the physical copy. Though (and I know this is often looked down upon here...) I'm probably gonna wait and see if a Switch version happens so I don't repeat what I did with Crash, getting the game on PS4 when it comes out and then getting the Switch port later on.
@Quintumply I know GameStop in the US you get a Spyro keychain if you preoder the game there as a bonus.
Good to hear about Pro support and HDR.
But I'm still 'wait and see' because of the rest of it.
"if you want to see Spyro at his absolute best, the game does support 4K and HDR on Sony's souped up system." source?
Guys this is really boring. I hope you went on crusades when every PS3 game was described as being "HD" despite barely any of them being 1080p.
You know exactly what Stephen is saying in the article: playing on PS4 Pro will provide a higher resolution. Exactly what that will be, we'll need to wait for Digital Foundry to zoom in and count the pixels.
Does it actually have HDR support? Because I have not seen any confirmation of this anywhere else.
Are these games any good, never played any of the Spyro games before? Loved the likes of Jak & Daxter and Rachet & Clank. Or is this game designed for kids? Thanks.
I have a question @Quintumply! I’ve read a rumour that later pressings of the physical disc may include all three games in full! I know nothing would be announced officially as this would affect initial sales, but is this something that could happen? What’s the likelihood of that happening? And what are your thoughts on it?
Personally, I’m going to most likely skip this release, as I’m solely a physical buyer! It sucks because I was super excited when it was first announced!
@SwanPrincess83 I've also seen rumours that there would be multiple discs in the box, but to be honest I don't think that's very likely, nor do I think the single disc will have everything on it. Activision has made it clear you need to download a day one update to play Spyro 2 and 3 in full, and anything else is probably just wishful thinking.
To be honest I think the issue has been blown out of proportion — most of the people who get this game won't bat an eyelid about a day one patch, as it's become more or less routine with new releases. I do understand that the disc should contain the whole package, but at the end of the day, it'll affect almost no one.
@Quintumply Its not a day one patch its most of the game from 2 and 3. So i will go for the game at a lower price secondhand.
Preorder
@Flaming_Kaiser Well, I mean, it is a patch, and it is available on day one, so...?
@manu0 Not sure why you got some downvotes. I've been looking for a source about this info too and can't find anything. Hopefully it's true!
I have the trilogy pre-ordered and don't care at all that I'll have to download a patch/update to play all of 2 & 3.
Sigh... update required for 2*3? Pass. When
Is it ok to put out 1/3 of a game....
@get2sammyb actually even that we don't know. on the xbox store it's NOT listed as one x enhanced so i'm wondering if it will have any pro enhancements at all.
I can imagine Activision's ad:
"Buy the remake of Spyro 1 for £30/$40, and for a limited time, download the rest of the trilogy for free!"
Wait, this article initially stated that the game had Pro support and HDR support...
What's going on now? More Activision laziness?
I have two complaints so far:
1. There's something about the framerate or motion blur that makes panning the camera feel really awful to me. It feels like the game is running in slow motion sometimes (could be an unstable framerate)
2. You can't remap controls. It's minor, but unless you use retro controls and move the camera with L1 and R1, jumping puzzles are a pain because you can't move the camera and jump at the same time. Normally, I'd map jump to L1 in games with a floating camera (or first person)
Game looks great otherwise. They did a fantastic job with the art work and animations. I'm very happy with this one.
@RoyalGuard Buy it
