It's been a long wait to see more of Sorcery, but Sony finally lifted the game's invisibility cape this week to reveal more of what The Workshop has in store for 2012.
Revealing differences since the game's well-received E3 2010 showing, design director Brian Upton says:
What we showed at E3 was largely organized around a dungeon crawl, and we realized we didn’t want that. We wanted a full-blown fantasy world, not a series of tunnels. A lot of our re-tooling involved moving the action gameplay into a more free-flowing space. The E3 version also had a much younger hero, and the enemies were a lot more cartoonish. We though, “you know, we have a game here that would appeal to a hardcore PlayStation gamer…and it looks a little bit like Spyro!” [laughs] We didn’t want people to get the wrong impression, so we wanted to bring the visuals in-line with the gameplay.
We certainly think it looks as good as ever, with the game due in spring 2012. Have your say in the comments below.

Yes yes, sorcery IS real and it IS awesome.
Looks pretty cool. I wonder how deep this game is. I sort of get the feeling you can finish it in about 3 hours. Don't ask me why I think that. General Sony Move pessimism, I guess.
This looks like it's going to be worth the long wait.
Wow! I was so-so with the E3 footage, but they've really made some great improvements, especially moving away from the kiddy look. Not that Spyro is a bad game (actually really fun), but we need something to hit the more mature audience. Very nice.
This looks Amazing!
